Coupled with the irresistible intrusion of basic, old-fashioned greed into any potentially profitable industry, the likelihood increased exponentially that somebody would eventually take an unnecessary chance or overlook an obvious danger that the pioneers would never do. With each passing year, the argument circling the definition of "safe" and "foolhardy" would rage ever hotter, and eventually the reckless profiteers would "win" with catastrophic results. The marketers of "Pac-Man" defined the experiment as a "no lose" situation. At worst, one component would neutralize the other.
