Almost as one, the rigs pulled out of the stop to continue their race. The displaced drivers ran after the new ones waving their hands and shouting encouragement. When a military personnel chopper landed nearby, sending dozens of civilian commuters scurrying for cover, they suddenly knew otherwise. A tall, stern major general emerged from the chopper and ordered them in. The chopper headed north.
