I Promise

Kazimir’s POV

“We’re here, Sir.”, Oliver says interrupting my train of thoughts. I did not even see that we arrived because I have been distracted ever since I got out of the house today.

“Thank you, Oliver.”, I say to him getting out of the car and taking my laptop bag with me. “I will be leaving early today, be here a little earlier than usual.”

“Understood, Sir. Have a nice a day.”, I just give him a nod and turn away from him before walking to the building. Oliver has been my driver for two years now even though he is young. He is raising money for college because he declined my help saying he wanted to be independent and I admire that about him. He is 22 years old and at that age I was having my first successful company.

I enter the lobby and look around; people are busy lounging and gossiping like they have nothing to do. They see me enter and they immediately scurry away to their working places. Those cowards. I think to myself while listening to the sound of my black shiny shoes hitting the floor. I thank the Lord as I see the front desk empty, I do not have the patience today. I am trying to not let my frustration out but if someone makes me lose my patience, I will not be responsible for my actions.

“Mr Del Russo, Sir!”, I stop in my tracks as I hear the high-pitched and annoying voice scream. I have no luck today, at all. First, I find a ring on the finger of the only girl I like since Emily and now the person I thought has not arrived is already here.

“Good morning, Sir. I can see you need coffee so I’ll just make it for you and bring it to your office.”, she says trying to look sexy but she fails, I am not attracted to her at all. I mean she is beautiful and all but who wants someone that only wants you for your money?

“Good morning, Miss Bells. I have an assistant that helps me with that, you should do the job they hired you for or you might be looking for another job soon.”, I say matter-of-factly with a fake smile before turning away from her and walking to the elevator. I swipe my key card opening the elevator and get in.

The elevator closes and moves after pressing the floor to my office. I wonder what they are doing now. No! No! I will not think about her. She is a married woman who is not interested in me, she just needed my help nothing more. I will forget her and focus on my life. The elevator opens and I see my assistant walking up to me as I walk out of the elevator.

“Good morning, Sir. I postponed your 8 o’clock meeting to tomorrow morning. You have a meeting with William Co-op at 10 o’clock and Mr Pillay said you have a lunch date together. He even made an appointment just in case you say you are too busy, those were his words.”, my assistant informed me and I raise an eyebrow at his last sentence.

“Thank you, Mr Kathan. I hope you already have my coffee on my desk.”, I say needing energy for my next meeting. He laughs nervously and I stop in my tracks and turn to him.

“A-about that, Sir. I had your coffee already, bright and early but there was a little-”, I quickly cut off his nervous ramble because he is really annoying me.

“Out with already, Kathan!”, I say impatiently and I see him flinch a little at my tone.

“I tried to stop him but he forced himself in. He is in your office right now and he drank the coffee I made for you and-”, I cut him off again.

“Who is it?”, I ask calmly this time after seeing his reaction the first. I do not want to be the leader everyone fears but a leader everyone looks up to and respects.

“Mr Crawford.”, he says with a weird expression on his face. I take a deep breath before turning and walking to my office. I open the big white door and I see him on my chair but he is facing away looking at the great view of RustenBay.

“I can see you made yourself comfortable.”, I say calmly and see him jump a little but he tries to hide it. He gets up from chair and walks up to me slowly.

“You have the best view so why not?”, he says and I clench my jaw at his response.

“Why are you here, Crawford?”, I ask as I put my laptop bag on my desk and sit down.

“You know why I’m here, Del Russo. You just voted me out and fired me from my position!”, he says anger evident on his face, his face is red and he is clenching his hands into fists.

“What did you think would happen? You thought we wouldn’t find out, huh? If you know what is good for you will leave my office and never come back here or else I won’t be responsible for my actions.”, I say with an ice cold and dangerous tone looking at him in the eye with a challenging look.

“This is not over, Del Russo!”, he says turning away from me and walking away. He slams the door hard and I smirk knowing I got under his skin. He should be grateful I did not blacklist him or report him to the police. My assistant enters with files in his hands.

“Your 10 o’clock is here, Sir.”, f**k! I cannot even get a minute to myself without having people interrupt me. I get up from my chair and fix my tie and jacket before following him to the boardroom. I enter and see that my team is already here, they know I hate people who do not care about time. I also see that the representatives of William Co-op are here. I take a sit on my chair and wait for this meeting to end already. We already work with this company but they want more. Greedy bastards. I think to myself while looking at the man that is going to do the presentation.

“Good morning to you all. I am Connor Silas William, the CEO of William Co-op.”, he says with an arrogant smirk plastered on his face and I already dislike him. The meeting drags on and I do not even wait, I leave as soon as they finish. I know that was rude of me but I could not help it. I enter my office and see my best friend already waiting for me with takeaway bags on the desk.

“I want all the details. I know something happened, you don’t call us unless you want something so spill.”, he says without even greeting me.

“You’re annoying, you know that?”, I ask him as I take a sit on my chair and taking out Aunt Candy’s delicious sandwich. I take a bite and almost at the taste. I must go see her or else she will disown me.

“I know, so stop stalling.”, he says eating is blueberry muffin like a starved pig. What a gentleman.

I tell him all about what happened today and yesterday but leaving the part where I threw a tantrum. He will make it his thing and tell Larisa. That will not be good for me. He even teased me about saving her because he knows I do not trust women except for Larisa. He concluded that I like her and he is not wrong but I will not admit that to him.

“I will be leaving now if you don’t need me.”, my assistant says and I gesture him to leave and he does without a word. Harry went back to his work after lunch and I got back to work too. I am thinking of going home early today, I need to rest a little. My phone rings as I finish the online meeting and I take my phone from under the scattered papers on my desk. It is an unknown number but I answer it.

“Hello? Who is this?”, I ask the caller and I hear is someone crying, my eyes widen at that.

'Kazimir, I need you.', the caller says and I already who it is even though her voice is hoarse. I quickly get up from the chair that it topples over. What happened to her? Why is she crying? I panic and let it out.

“Letitia? Where are you? Are you okay? No, don’t answer that just send me your location and I will be there.”, I ramble and I hang up before running to the parking lot. The elevator ride felt like forever but I made it. I feel my phone ping as I enter the car.

“Oliver, drive to this location we are taking a detour. Faster, please”, I say to him and he quickly puts it in the GPS before starting the car and drives fast to our destination. We arrive faster than I anticipated and I can see a slumped figure next to the road, my heart breaks at the sight. I take her hand in mine and pull her to my chest so that she can be warm but she pulls away from me.

“Oh God, you’re wet.”, I say and I can see her eyes widen, I smirk at her while she blushes and looks away from me. I request Oliver to take her bags as I help her to the car. I tell my driver to go home as soon as he asks where to next. I can see that she is trembling from the cold and sleepy so I take off my jacket. I gesture her to sleep on my lap but her eyes widen and I explain it to her. She puts her head on my lap and I place the jacket on top of her and play with her hair.

I feel her breathing even out and I know she is sleeping. “I will always be here, my love. Always.”, I say placing a kiss on her on her cheek meaning every word I just whispered to her. What happened to her? Who hurt her?

“We’ve arrived, Sir.”, my questioning was disturbed by Oliver as he opens the door. I get out of the car and she stirs in her sleep but quickly goes back to sleep. She must be very tired then.

“Thank you”, I say to him while holding Letitia bridal style and taking her inside. He follows me inside and puts her bags in my room as I put her on the bed.

“Thank you for everything today, Oliver. I will take care of her now.”, I say to him showing my gratitude to him.

“It was not a problem at all. Just take care of her, I’ll be going now.”, he says with a sad smile and leaves me standing in the middle of the room. I need someone to change her because I am sure she would not appreciate it if I was the one. I take my phone and dial the only person who can help me.

‘Hey, bro’, she answers after the second ring.

“I need you here, now.”, I say in a whisper.

‘No! No way! You can’t do that, you know? What is it this time, huh? You only call me when you want something and that is so-’, I quickly cut off her ramble.

“It’s Letitia”, the line becomes quiet and I thought she hung up on me.

‘W-what? I will be there in 10.’, she says and hangs up. Wow! She really likes her then. I’m happy that she is making friends other than hanging out with me or Harrison. I take a blanket and put it on top of her and watch her face that is now peaceful with no frown. She is beautiful. I think to myself but quickly scold myself for checking out a married woman.

“Where is she?”, Larisa shouts as she enters the door of my bedroom and I glare at her but she just pushes me to the side.

“What happened to her?”, she asks with a trembling voice.

“Just change her clothes and come to the kitchen, I will tell you all I know.”, I say to her before turning away and walking to the kitchen. I enter the kitchen and take all the ingredients I need to make my mother’s special chicken soup. She taught me everything I know about the kitchen area and she would say she wants me to take care of my wife by cooking for her. I finish cooking the chicken soup and dish it up for when she wakes up.

“Tell me what happened, Kazimir.”, she demands sternly with a serious expression on her cute face.

“I don’t know what happened to her. She just called me crying and wanted me to help her so I went there to help her. She had her bags with her but what broke my heart was how defeated she looked. I want to know what happened to her but I had a suspicion that she has an abusive fiancé or husband after seeing the bruise on her cheek and her running in the middle of the night.”, I say in a whisper and gentle tone thinking of what happened today and yesterday.

“Thank you for saving her. I will try to find out what happened but she does not want to open up then I can’t force her.”, she says with a shrug before stepping close to me and putting her head on my chest.

“I know.”, I say playing with her soft hair while hugging her close.

“Please, help her. I like her so much. I’ve always wanted a sister but now she is here that void is no more.”, she says crying silently on my chest and my heart breaks at the sight. I cannot stand seeing tears in her eyes and I will do anything in my power to make her happy.

“Do not worry, Sunshine. I will help her with all I can and I will destroy everyone who hurt her.”, I say in the most dangerous voice and I hug her tightly to my chest.

“I promise.”, I seal the promise by kissing her forehead gently and holding her close to my chest.
