NIKITA
He didn't touch me.
Did I want him to? The sick answer deep down was yes. Everytime he had his hands on me my body vibrated. No-one has ever touched me like he does.
It feels different from Ryker.
It took our lives being in danger for Ryker to even kiss me. Then I basically had to throw myself at him which he still stopped from going further. Sure he promised to take my virginity before Pince Caleb does but so far Caleb hasn't done anything I imagined him to do.
Is there something wrong with me?
I awoke in the early hours of the morning to his soft snores. He was lying on his back one arm above his head and the other resting on his stomach. The hand on his stomach was covered in tattoos winding all the way up his arm to his neck, across his firm board chest and down the other arm. There was a single space on the other side of his neck untouched. The perfect spot for a mating mark. A mark there would complete the path of tattoos.
How long has he been waiting for a mate. How old was he?
Does he like submissive girls or bold?
If we stayed mated could we come to love or continue to hate and hurt each other. I knew in my heart it would be the latter.
There was also a small piece deep deep down that wanted it to work. He was beautiful.
He wanted me though. No, he wanted the blessed wolf, not me. Something in my gyt told me there was more to the stories of his ruthlessness and more to him than meets the eye. I plan to find out.
Caleb's face looked peaceful for once. Void of his signature smirk or hard clenched jaw. He was perfectly my type of man and I am irrevocably here for his type of sin.
I sighed.
Caleb started to stir before sitting on the side of the bed rubbing his hands over his face in an effort to wake himself up. Oh damn he looks good in that freshly woken state. Tousling his black bed hair, every back muscle rippled with movement from broard shoulders down to narrow hips. Observing the stunning artwork of tattoos littered across his shoulder blades, an urge to run my nails through his hair, scratching all the way from his head down his back.
I never knew how sexy a guy's back could be. Sensing his movement, I quickly flipped onto my back pretending to stare at ceiling like I hadn't just been checking him out.
Nikita stay still don't think, don't move, don't let him know he's weaseling his way into your fantasies.
Letting out a deep groan that tingled my nether region, he left.
All morning I prepared a speech and was rehearsed and ready. Today I was going to demand to be let out. There were voices outside the door followed by some shuffling of feet. When the door knob jiggled I was ready to deliver my spiel. Here goes nothing.
"Hello little Luna." A friendly jovial voice came from the man.
"Uh...Who are you?" I asked confused.
"I'm Hendrix." He looked at me for any trace of recognition as if his name was supposed to clarify who he is and what he's doing in the room. I stared blankly. Cool.
"Beta Hendrix," he said at my blank expression. "He seriously hasn't told you about me?? His best friend since kindergarten! That bastard." looking offended. "Well, as I said I'm the Beta and welcome to White Crescent pack Luna." He did a mock bow.
"It's nice to meet you Hendix but is Caleb around?"
"Nope the black Prince is busy, but your white knight is here." I internally giggled at his charismatic attitude.
"Ok Mr white knight what are you doing here then?"
"I brought you lunch, see!" He said with a giant goofy smile. Dropping another bag on the floor and headed toward to coffee table to place down the food.
He then strutted over to the bed jumping on his stomach in a belly flop kind of way, propping his head up on his hands looking at me. He had a mischievous sparkle in his eyes. I just knew he was defying his Alpha by coming here. I liked him immediately.
"What's in the bag?" I questioned.
"Take a look."
"Is it Caleb's head and you've actually taken over as Alpha and gonna free me instead"
"Fiesty, I'm glad you two are mates."
I rolled my eyes.
Tentatively peeking into the bag it was a uniform the maids wore. Thankfully not the sexy kind of maid outfits. This was a pair of black high waisted slacks, an olive green button up with collar, a thick black woman's hoodie and a pair of boots.
"What's this for?"
"Welcome to operation Luna on the loose."
"Really? that's the best name you could come up with?"
"If you don't like the name I won't help you escape."
"Ok, I'm sorry. Operation Luna on the loose." I may not be happy with the name, but if beta Hendrix was putting his neck on the line to help me have some fresh air I would do as he said.
"Good now go get changed."
"You're serious?"
"Yes, now hurry the hell up. I'm sweating balls here knowing Caleb could bust our little operation in a second. I don't know how much time we have to sneak out."
Getting changed in a flash, I was ready for a taste of freedom. Not sure why but I knew I could trust the Beta.
"Let's go." He grabbed my hand and linked it over his elbow.
"Where are we going?" I asked quietly.
"Showing you around of course."
White crescent pack at least that was a start I knew where I was and it wasn't Obsidian Blood Pack, thank the goddess.
We walked outside, the weather was cold but still pleasant. Hendrix happily chatted away showing me through the streets, a few of the main buildings and out to the main gardens.
The gardens were captivating full of old thick trees, rows and patterns of flowers and sculptures. A large pond with a fountain sat in the centre. There was also a green house tucked at the back covered in vines, housing all sorts of herbs and plants it was amazing.
"Hendrix, why are we at White Crescent not Obsidian?"
"Caleb didn't tell you."
"We don't really talk."
He thought for a minute.
"Prince Caleb of Obsidian Blood Pack heir to the throne is actually the Alpha of White Crescent. This was the first pack he took over at 18 only with a small group of warriors that his father allowed him to take. It's in a good territory and allowed King Marcus to expand his rule, so we stayed. Our operations are based here and we rarely go back to the royal pack unless it's for the Alliance summit meeting." Leaving the green house I shivered as a fresh blast of cold wind whipped my face.
"We should head back. I'll show you around the Pack house."
"I'm fine it's not too cold can we please stay outside a few more minutes. Please."
"Ok but only of you say that I'm better looking than Caleb."
"Oh Caleb doesn't even come close to your good looks, and charm Hendrix."
"Yes, I knew I'd be your favourite. Of course we can stay out another 5 minutes." I giggled and sat on a small wooden garden seat. Hendrix sat beside me in comfortable silence.
"Why does King Marcus want to take over all the packs and supernaturals." I finally asked curiously.
"Greed, revenge. It dates back to Caleb's great great grandfather. When his pack arrived here from europe the territory was unclaimed. They struck a mountain full of gold and the pack was able to mine it. Their wealth and size helped smaller struggling packs to merge, but it also brought attention from rogues and human outsiders whom also wanted a piece of the money.
Obviously the more wolves that came the more sighting, the hunting began. The human's hunted werewolves for their thicker, larger pelt. They didn't know the difference between pack member or rogue. Eventually when they found out the truth about what we were they didn't care and worse it became a sport to them.
Caleb's great great grandfather was Alpha and called themselves Obsidian Blood. Obsidian the stone of protection, a stone that was once of the gods. The warriors were the packs protectors, defending against the hunters.
There was blood shed on both sides. The Hunter/Shifter rivalry continued for decades and generations. Hatred boiled in our blood. Caleb's great grandfather's eldest son as well as the hunters eldest son, killed each other. But it wasn't just the men who died, both of their wives and children were slaughtered. Their horrendous deaths caused a cease fire. Victor, Caleb's Grandfather was the second son and became Alpha. He started to recruit an alliance in case the human's went back on their word. Marcus was 13 at the time and was shipped off to Moonstone for 4 years for fear he would be targeted next time."
"King Marcus lived at Moonstone?"
"Yeah. A year after his return his mother was violently r***d and murdered by a group of hunters in front of him sparking his revenge. To make matters worse, a few months later Caleb's mother, Marcus's mate was taken and held hostage. She had just turned 18 and was gone for a few months. Apparently she was never the same as before. Victor who had already spent the four years Marcus was at Moonstone building alliances with supernaturals passed the reigns to Marcus, to seek vengeance on the broken peace treaty and for what they did to his mother and mate. It took a few years to plan their attack only to have it twarted by Moonstone in the Battle of Prodotis."
"Is that why Marcus hated us so much. Because we stopped his revenge?" I asked softly. I didn't so much about Obsidian Blood Pack's history nor anything about Moonstone's involvement.
"Moonstone had sworn alliance with Obsidian. King Marcus's had lived at there for years. From what I heard he and your father were as close as brothers. I don't know what changed or what broke it apart but lots of other supernaturals from the alliance sided with Moonstone. Even when Marcus won that battle the casualties and loyalties were hesitant to restart a war with the human's.
Those that remained loyal named him King of the wolves. I guess with his wealth, influence and support from the fanatics he was powerful enough to be named King.
For years he has been trying to gain more power by over throwing the other Alpha's. If they weren't going to join forces willingly they will be forced. He wants to declare our existance, and have an army if human's retaliate"
"There hasn't been any violence from the human's in years. Why is Prince Caleb the one taking over the pack's and not the King?"
"Have you seen the guy's wolf? He's stronger and smarter than his father. Well unless it comes to girls. With girls he has no clue." I knew he was trying to lighten the mood.
I never knew the full story of the past. No wonder my parents always kept us hidden and out of reach. They had betrayed their word to their friend, their brother instead going into hiding behind the Mirage.
"Come on we need to go back."
"Ok can you show me around the pack house?"
"We don't have time. Caleb has been banging on the mindlink in my head for the past 30 minutes looking for us."
"Oh" right back to my solitude. At least it was nice to get outside for a little fresh air.
As we approached the back entrance to the pack house. Hendrix was ripped away and body slammed into the wall with Prince Caleb's forearm pressed firmly against his throat.
