CALEB
BANG!!! The door to the Alpha office in Moonstone pack ripped off the frame. I was in a state of near madness as I entered the room. Everyone inside stared in shock at my wild entrance before cowering when they felt my furious aura. My wolf clawed in my brain determine to continue the hunt for our mate. I on the other hand was determine to find out all about this girl.
Eyes locked onto my target, the newly appointed Alpha Nathaniel and within a second I had crossed the room. Catching his throat in a vice grip I shoved him hard against the wall leaving a huge dent.
I didn't like this man. He was fit but not bulky like warriors and nothing like his Alpha brother. Nathaniel seemed more of a negotiator rather than a fighter. Someone who would save his own skin at the cost of everyone else. No doubt he held the title of Beta purely from his brother's support and family lineage. It was these men with silver tongues that can build or destroy packs with their politics and manipulations.
Taking down Moonstone pack was evidence of how far he would go to secure the power and wealth Obsidian Blood pack can provide. I did not trust him as far as I could throw him. The fact that he would betray his own brother was enough for me to despise him.
"Leave us" I snarled to the others in the room. Once we were alone I hissed quietly so others couldn't eavesdrop.
"Tell me about the girl."
"Why?" He choked out. "She is nothing but an irritating child. Now get your hands off me."
Control, I had been trained to control my emotions. It was a sign of weakness to let others see what you were thinking or feeling. I had to get a f*****g grip.
My father taught me never to show your hand before the game is won. But right now I was unhinged and wanting answers.
A sinister chuckle came out of my mouth. Never piss off a rabid wolf especially one more powerful. Lowering my voice further, my eyes drilling into his, claws drawing blood.
"Let's not forget who the true Alpha here is."
It didn't take long before Nathaniel averted his gaze in submission.
I needed to be careful with my next words. No one could know why I need this girl. Needed her now more than ever. Reigning in my temper with a deep breath. I released him from my choke hold. Claiming the Alpha chair in an obvious power play just to enforce who the Alpha really is.
"Speak"
"Forgive me, Prince Caleb." He said rubbing the wounds on his neck that were slowly starting to heal.
"It is just that in all our preparations you never asked about the girl."
"I never expected the moon goddess's Blessed wolf to be a girl."
"Blessed wolf? You must be mistaken Caleb....ah Alpha. The child is nothing and rather unremarkable. To think she would have been the next Alpha is laughable."
Nathaniel believed this child to be unremarkable but from what I observed she is quite the opposite. I almost growl at the way he spoke about the girl.
She is also definitely not a child. She is almost a woman, one with a sexy round ass that begs to be spanked. f**k.
I continued stare at him, people tend to crack under silent stares, their nerve starts to waver and to fill the awkward void of silence they let slip valuable information. Reputation and fear is an incredible power.
"Alpha, I came to you because Cairo told me months ago that his child would become the next Alpha. Nikita is just that, a child and acts like it too, never taking her training seriously. The pack has to much respect for Cairo to dare question his rule but I was not going to let a little brat be future Alpha over me!" he stated, clearly his ego was just as bruised now as it was when he first sought my allegiance.
My brain had stopped listening after he said her name, Nikita.
This time my silence was unintentional as I replayed the name in my head, each time my wolf clawing at my humanity desperate to shift and catch our prey.
"May, I ask Alpha...why do you suspect her to be a Blessed wolf?"
"Did you not feel her aura when she witnessed her parent's pain?"
"Yes sir, but she comes from a strong Alpha bloodline. She has never experienced such emotion before perhaps she was tapping into her Alpha power. She has never shown any advanced skills or strength or intelligence her entire life. I understand she has escaped but there is no reason to pursue her she will be of no threat to Obsidian Blood pack and our alliance."
"In all our preparations you never thought to tell me the future Alpha was a girl."
"I...I didn't think it mattered. The child is irrelevant to the plan. You were only supposed to imprison Alpha Cairo and Luna Ellenor to secure my position and pack. I told you the child was not going to be a problem that I would handle it myself."
"Clearly already an inept Alpha you are. She is still the future Alpha by birth right and may very well come to claim that position. Would you not want her dead to ensure the pack doesn't choose to follow her? She is a loose end that needs to be found." Found and made mine, my little lamb.
"Her wolf is strong as it has Alpha blood but Nikita is not. There is nothing special about her. Nikita is just an insecure teenage girl, unworthy to be future Alpha. She has already rejected the position and I guarantee she won't be back to claim it." His words were full of venom, he seemed to truly despised the girl. My wolf growled in my head at the way he belittled such a small, beautiful girl. Why am I being so protective of her? She is the enemy! I reprimanded myself.
"She is still my niece Alpha, I do not wish her killed." I almost scoffed out loud, now this man decides to grow a conscience, he had no issue talking s**t about Nikita before nor disposing of his brother and sister-in-law.
"Who said anything about killing her?" The man looked a little confused. "Whether she is a Blessed wolf or not, the daughter of Alpha Cairo would make a nice prize."
His eyes bugged out of his head and his mouth opened and closed like a fish out of water.
"You are dismissed."
As much as I enjoyed the stupid look on his face, I learnt sweet f**k all about the girl. I still think Nathaniel was hiding the truth but I was getting no where, he only wanted to argue.
"Hendrix" I mind linked my beta rubbing my hands down my face.
Entering the office with a mouthful of spaghetti I raised an eyebrow at my beta and best mate.
"What? I was hungry." He said flopping down on the chair Nathaniel had just vacated. "What's up?"
"I need you to find out everything you can about the Alpha's Daughter and that boy with her."
"I'm surprise she got away from you. Chick is f*****g crazy jumping over a cliff like that. And did you feel her aura she has to be the one you've been searching for right?" He said with a mouth full.
"Yes, I believe so." I replied "I didn't expect the Alpha's child and the blessed wolf would be the same person. Luna Ellenor gave it away when I mentioned it. The new Alpha said she wasn't anything special but after what I saw I don't believe him. I want to know everything about her and get Valentina to bring me information about Moonstones territory and allies."
"Yes Alpha, what are you going to do." he replied, but I was already heading out the door. My wolf wouldn't let me sit still any longer I need to start my own search for her scent.
Passing the stairs I caught the sweetest citrus and vanilla with a hint of something feminine. It was faint but felt like it had become part of the house. Without hesitation I followed it up the stairs until I reached a door on the right. This girl felt like a mystery to be solved. I didn't know what I was expecting maybe a little girls room full of pink plushies instead inside was simple. A grey queen bed stood in the middle, the emerald green cover thrown back into a mess at the end of the bed. Clothes were heaped in the laundry hamper. Her desk stacked with books for school. Everything was the way she must have left them, never expecting that today she would be force to leave her home with nothing. The thing that stood out the most were the pictures placed around the room. Most were of family and some with friends, the girl looked vibrant, happy and absolutely beautiful. But in most of them someone else was there. That f*****g boy from the forest.
The fucker looked much too intimate with my mate than I liked. Not realizing I had grabbed a picture off the shelf until it smash in my hands. My rage spilled out like molten lava, hot and ready for destruction. This damn child, I wanted her now and I wanted that boy dead.
