Moments later Prince Royce arrived at Landis palace on his horse and went to his study room. His personal body guard Bron, joined him later in the prince’s study room.
“Your Highness, how was your visit," Bron asked.
“Well, not as pleasant as I expected," Prince Royce answered.
Flipping book pages and scanning through them.
“There is something about Princess Lilian that is strange and amusing in a way." Prince Royce added.
“In what way Your Highness, if I may ask." Bron asked tilting his head slightly.
“She is not like anyone I have met. She's funny." Prince Royce said with a smile on his face.
“It seems you find interest in her Your Highness," said Bron.
“Why do you say so," Prince Royce asked.
“Maybe I was wrong." Bron said trying to avoid the question.
“I seems she has lost her wits. I don't think someone like that is fit to be my wife." Said Prince Royce still focusing on the book pages.
Bron nodded his head in agreement.
“Tell the servants to prepare me a warm bath, I need to freshen up. It's been a long day.” Prince Royce said as he stood up.
“As you command Your Highness," Bron said and left the room.
Elena was still figuring out, or should I say plotting her next plan to escape her room.
“Okay, let me think. What's your name again," Elena asked Melissa.
“My name is Me –Melissa,”. She hesitated.
“Ok Melissa you have to help me get out of this room." Elena said holding Melissa's shoulders.
“But I'm scared Your Highness, what if the queen finds out." Melissa said with a shaky voice.
“She won't find out, okay. Come on girl we can do this."
Elena had to try her best to convince Melissa. If she wanted to check the palace she needed a distraction. She looked around and got an idea.
“Fire.” She whispered to herself.
“Get me a lit candle.” Elena told Melissa.
Melissa left the room and shut the room behind her. Elena grabbed scissors from the cupboard and tore her gown horizontally at the knee level.
She used part of the cloth to wrap her sprained foot.
“I'm so glad my dad thought me survival skills. I just wish this was all a crazy dream.” Elena uttered with the little fight she had left in her body.
As stubborn as she is, she's not backing down anytime soon.
Melissa entered the room with the candle on a candle holder. It was already lit. Elena collected it from her.
“You might wanna run,” Elena said as she threw the candle on the bed.
The bed instantly caught fire because of the sheets and flammable fabrics.
Melissa's eyes opened wide in shock.
“Fire,” she screamed in shock.
Elena waited patiently for everything to escalate. This is the kind of distraction she needed.
Guards immediately ran inside the room. They were trying to put out the fire but it kept spreading.
From the bed to the cottons and then wooden furnitures.
Elena saw her opportunity to sneak out of the room and quietly left. Smoke had already filled the room and the fire was growing.
She wanted to check the castle but it was too big.
“Where do I start from,” Elena said to herself.
The fire alerted everyone, the servants and workers were already screaming for help.
“We have to find Her Highness.” One of the guards said.
Elena spotted a dark room and quickly ducked inside looking around, her heart still racing. The room was filled with old paintings, furnitures and abandoned materials.
“I need to check the others,” Elena murmured. She ran out still hiding from the guards.
“Oh this is intense,” She entered another room. It was different this time and bigger but still with the same old and dusty furnitures. She then saw an old mirror. Her reflection starred back at her. Elena glanced back. Shock widen her eyes. She had blond hair, green eyes and petite but tall stature, her face slim and sharp.
“What is this, this is not me……what is happening,” drowned in confusion and despair Elena walked backwards slowly, her heart palpitating.
“So I am actually not Elena. Is that why they're calling me Princess Lilian, what is happening” Elena almost screaming. Her hand gripping her gown tight.
Elena shook her head
“No this isn't real, there must be an explanation.” She said to herself.
The chaos and commotion outside shifted Elena's attention after hearing a loud bang. A memory flashed through her mind. She looked at the mirror again.
Closely this time, there was something, something similar. The carvings on the side.
Elena gasps. “I have seen this mirror before.”
The same mirror Elena touched before seeing herself here was right in front of her.
“How is this possible,” stretching her hands towards the mirror and she touched it. A strange and uneasy feeling immediately filled her body, running down her spine. Her body collapsed to the ground in few seconds. The sound of shouting and destruction echoed in the palace. The fire was being put out with water and the damage was already bad.
“Oh goodness, what is happening. Guards!!”
Queen Miranda yelled.
“Mother, Princess Lilian room is on fire and she is no where to be found,” Prince Lohan said with heavy breath.
“This is catastrophic. Find her, she can't be far.”
“Yes Mother,” he said abruptly and left.
“Your Majesty, you called,” said one of the guards.
“Don't just stand there, put out the fire.”
“Yes Your Majesty.”
“Go,” Queen Miranda yelled looking devastated. “This cannot happen. The marriage date is fast approaching. And if she gets burnt, ah,” she gasps.
“He would not marry her if she suffers from burns.”
She furrowed her eye brows while panicking.
“The princess is here,” one of the guards yelled after finding her on the floor.
They immediately carried her to another room and called the Royal physician. The fire stopped spreading, only smoke and ash remained of the burnt fabrics and furnitures. Prince Lohan and some maids were present in the room with the physician.
“Princess Lilian will be fine. She must have been stressed out that is why she passed out. There is nothing to worry about,” said the Royal physician.
At that moment Elena slowly opened her eyes.
“Ahh,” the sound escaped from her mouth. “What happened,” Elena asked looking around then realized. Still in the palace and surrounded by strange people.
At this point she was fed up.
“Are you alright Your Highness,” the physician asked Elena.
Prince Lohan was worried and pacing around.
“I'm fine, I need to…..”
“You need to what? What is wrong with you. You set your room on fire, you could have died,” Prince Lohan said angrily. His voice loud and bold.
“I did what I had to do to leave this place,” Elena fired back.
“What does that even mean,” Prince Lohan furrowed his eye brow. An irritated expression showing on his face.
Elena stood up, before she could utter a word a loud bang from
the door sounded. Queen Miranda stormed into the room. Went to Elena and slapped her across the face. The sound echoed around the room.
