"With this kind of room? I don't think so. You need to get positive energy from your things. I don't see it in your stuff." Kourt is being frank with me.
"I am. I am a positive person and I have a good life with my stuff. I do not need to add or change anything with my stuff. I am very happy and contented with it." I smiled just to convince her that I am content with what I had.
"No wonder. You are so boring. You have to leave out of your comfort zone, Hailey. It's time to step up." She said disrespectfully. She didn't even think twice about telling me that after all, it was only the second time we met.
"Why should I?" I asked her. I didn't show that I was affected by what she was saying. I just acted like nothing happened and still talked to her properly.
"Why shouldn't you get out of your comfort zone?" she asked me back.
"I get your point but I don't see any valid reasons for me to do that. I am who I am and I will not change for anyone. I know that someone is there to love me for who I am."
Kourt did not say anything else. She decided not to argue with me anymore because first of all, she knew that she won't win against me. I'm not cool with her point of view for now.
Why would I change for people who I don't even know with? First of all, I am not here to make friends. I'm here to study. I don't care if they will like me or not.
Just because I am fat and boring does not mean they can bully me. It is just that I never had a chance to fight for myself yesterday. Well, thanks to that brave man who saved me from bullies. He's my Savior.
By the way, I still do not know his name. I never had a chance to ask him. I wish I could. Well, I had a chance but shame prevailed. I know it's my fault. There's no one else to blame but me.
She sat on my bed. "You know, changing yourself is not just for people around you. It's for you. To make you feel complete, to be genuinely proud of who you become after all of the struggles you experience in your life."
And for that, moments stopped and I starts to think about what she said. And she was right. But I'm losing a chance because I remembered I tried once to be fit but It didn't go as planned. I'm still fat and get bullied.
That is why for now, other opinions don't matter to me anymore.
"Thank you very much for telling me the truth. Thank you for coming to me just to advise me. Thank you for coming to my room. I appreciate that a lot. I am happy. But may I ask why you are here? What do you want from me? Do you need anything from me? What's that? What help do you need from me?"
"Very customer service huh," she says while laughing a bit. "Well, I am here because I want to meet you. Get to know you, and besides one thing is for sure, you will not do what I am doing right now." She said proudly. "You can not sneak into someone else's room." Her voice weakened at the end of what she said so I didn't understand it anymore
"Do what?"
"Sneaking. Obviously."
"I will never do that. I don't want to be spelled. Mom and Dad will be disappointed."
"You told me earlier that you don't care about what other people say? What happened? why do you seem to be thinking about what they will think about you?" She asks.
"They are not other people to me. They are my parents and whatever they say, that's important to me."
"Then you are contradicting your own words. Other opinions still matter to you."
Am I contradicting my own words? For me, I am not.
"Wait, are you alone in this room?" She asks, noticing there's no one else here in this room aside from me and her.
Her eyes moved around. Checking the things in my room. She would like to know if I have a roommate.
"Yes. Why? Do you have a roommate?" I asked her. She looked betrayed.
"Yes! And we are three in just one room! How is it possible that you got this room all alone? It's unfair. Very unfair." She emphasized the word unfair.
It's obvious that she would like to have her own room but sadly she wasn't given a chance to get it.
"Well, I don't know. Maybe my dad talked to the principal of this school." I guessed. "You know my dad knew a lot of powerful people. He uses his connection to get a better deal with anyone."
"Maybe it's because your father is the principal." She joked with me. But I think she was serious. She looked at me as if I were the principal's daughter.
"That's not a funny joke."
"I know." She laughs. "Anyway, you are so lucky to have a room all on your own. I wish I could have mine too."
Kourt is so lively. Very joyful. Her smile never fades away. And I want to have her positivity. It's good to have a friend like her.
"Why are you smiling like that?" She asks, clueless.
"I'm so happy that you chose me to be your friend."
"It's very hard to find someone like you in our school. It's good to have a friend like you as well."
"But I'm wondering why are you looking for a girl like me. Imagine there's a lot of girls here in our school that you can have as your friends."
"I need a change. even a little change."
"What do you mean?"
"I mean, I need to change my circle of friends and I want to have innocent people to be with. To lessen my sins." She answered.
"Why? Are you a sinful woman?" Because of the way he speaks, it seems as if she has done a lot of wrong.
"No. Not to the point of that. I would like to have a change. I feel like I'm done being a rebel. It's time to leave my comfort zone."
Well, that makes perfect sense. I am not blaming her for finding a good friend. As she said, It's time to leave out of your comfort zone.
