HAILEY's point of view
I was in surprise. I did not know he could be so rude to me. I thought he was different from other people here. Maybe I was wrong and dreamed about him too much.
I did not follow him. I did not even try to get his wrist again. I just watched him walk away from me. Why did I even expect him to approach me? He just saved me yesterday and that's it. I should be thankful for that only. No more interaction.
"Arrogant," I whispered. I started walking and just minded my own business.
I was wrong. Wrong. That man is a jerk. How could he treat me like that? I thought he was different from other guys in this school. It turns out, he's like one of them now.
"What's with your face again, Hailey?" Kourt suddenly appeared.
"I saw him."
"Who?"
"The one who saved me from bullies yesterday. I was wrong. He's not that kind at all. He's a jerk."
"Oh... For real?"
"Yes, we just had a conversation. Did you not see him?"
"No."
Turns out I'm the only one who can see him now. I'm not crazy, I'm also not delusional. He's a real person and I know what I saw, I even spoke with him.
"I'm taking back my words. I don't have a crush on him anymore. From now on, he's forgotten."
"That was so quick."
"YES! As it should be. He's like the other person who bullied me. I don't have time with those kind of people."
"Tell me what happened. Maybe he just got out of the fight again. Or not in the mood?"
"No. Impossible. We had a conversation. He can be nice a little to me if he's getting a bad day but he didn't. It turns out he's a real jerk."
AFTER one subject, I almost ran out of energy. That subject was very exhausting. I never knew science could be that draining. I hate science! But I don't have a choice but to study to get a higher grade since my dad is expecting a high grade from me.
"Hailey."
I looked at the person who blocked my way. I saw the man whose kind turned to jerk. I raised one of my eyebrows to him.
"You're blocking my way, man," I said to him, coolly.
"I know. Um, I just want to say sorry for what I did to you earlier. I didn't mean to do that. I was so mad about my uncle. I lost my dog just this morning."
"Oh, no, I'm sorry to hear that. Sorry for your loss, I didn't know."
"Of course, you wouldn't, I didn't tell you."
I noticed a lot of eyes were on us. Why? Because this gorgeous man in front of me is talking to me and saying sorry for being a jerk earlier this morning?
"I'm sorry If I was a little brat earlier, to keep on teasing you. I didn't know you were in that kind of emotion, I was a bit selfish." I apologized.
"No. It's not your fault. I want to say sorry and saying that is not enough so I would like to invite you for dinner later if it's fine with you?"
"Yeah, sure."
I saw his smile when he heard my response. "Great. So I will expect you later, which place? Yours or mine?"
"Mine's a little messy. I'm still not cleaning my room." I shyly told him. It's true. I haven't cleaned my room yet.
I looked into his eyes. I was waiting to see if he would be disappointed with what he heard from me. I didn't see any other expression from him. Maybe he wasn't disappointed in me.
"If you want, we can just eat outside. I know many places. You will like it there. There is a restaurant with delicious food near here on campus. I know how to get there without the guards catching us. What do you think?"
"I think, that will be great."
"Really?"
"But isn't it forbidden to leave the campus?"
"Yes, that is strictly forbidden, so we will run away. no one will know. I'll take care of you. nothing bad will happen. promise I'll take care of you."
"Alright. As long as no one else knows. And you promise you won't let me. Will you take care of me?"
"Of course."
"I agree, let's go outside the campus to have dinner later."
"Oh good, good. Um... May I know your name?" He asked.
Oh, shoot. We don't even know each other's names yet. Fortunately, he asked my name so I would have a chance to know his name as well
"I'm Hailey. Hailey Lois Clark. Just call me Hailey, what about you?"
"Asher. Howard. It is nice to meet you, Hailey. You look so beautiful by the way."
My cheeks turned red. I blushed at his words.
He told me I'm beautiful. Because of it, I wasn't able to concentrate on my studies. Throughout this day I feel like I'm in clouds, swaying and humming. My heart would like to scream.
"Hailey, you look very happy," Kourt noticed it. My smile never fades away for a second. It's because of Asher. Now I know his name and he got a nice name. Howard, seems like it suits my first name.
"You're blushing girl, tell me, what is it?"
I looked at her. "Nothing. I'm just happy."
"Because?" she's waiting for the next words I'll say.
"It is nothing serious, Kourt."
"Come on. Spill it. What happened? Who is making you happy? Earlier, you were mad because of your savior who turned into a jerk and then now you are smiling like a freak."
"Did I mention to you earlier about the man who saved me?"
She nodded continuously. "Yes. You mentioned to me that you do not like him anymore."
"Really? Did I say that to you?"
She frowned at me. "Yes. You even told me that you will forget about him starting today. Now what with that smile and how is it related to him?" she asked gruffly.
"You know what, Kourt? I would like to take back my words again. I feel like he's not that jerk. He is still the man who saved me. I still like him and he is still my crush."
