Chapter Three

A MONTH LATER

Jennifer is thinking as she lies in bed pretending to be asleep;

It's been a month, since I met Jack at Club 24. Since then I haven't seen him again, and the people at The Hunter's Academy have tried to track them down but with no luck at all. Every hunter in Orial City has been alerted to be cautious in their works.

Because apparently when it comes to Jack and Peter, these two guys are very dangerous and they well known at the academy as the impossibles. No one who has gone up against them has lived to tell the story, so I have been told.

When the news broke out that the impossibles have been spotted in Orial City, I didn't think it will cause such panic among the Hunters, for God sake we are trained to fear no one but yet these guys are putting the whole entire Organization on its toes. If two of them could bring this much fear how about if the all three where here.

Danny and I are the only ones who seem to be determined to put these guys down. And if I am being honest, seeing the Hunter's Academy in such a panic has got me on the edge too. But I don't care the impossibles killed my father, so I will make sure I avenge him no matter what.

But there is one thing I have got to get off my mind. Since I met him that day, I can't seem to stop thinking about him. And not in the sense of enmity but that of care, as if I am supposed to nurse his wounds back to healthy which is very disturbing.

Lisa comes into her room and opens the bedroom window causing the morning sunlight rays to beam through the room and direct on Jennifer's face. And Jennifer groans as she is irritated by the light and covers herself with her bracket.

"Come on wake up." Lisa said as she grabbed Jennifer's bracket and uncovered her.

"What is it Lisa? It Saturday today won't you let me sleep" she groaned as she slowly wakes up and sits upright "and what are you doing here early in the morning?"

"Because you promised me that you will escort me to meet my parents today."

"That's today?" she says this as she groans, grabbing her pillow and cover her face while lies back on her bed.

"Yes, so please wake up and let's go" She said as she grabs the pillow from Jennifer.

"Alright am up gees" she gets up and out of bed and heads to the bathroom to wash up. "You owe me for this!" she says as she enters the bathroom.

"Yeah, yeah, just be fast"

A few minutes later they were driving to Lisa's family in 11th street. On the way to Lisa's parents, Jennifer gets her phone and starts going through the messages Danny left for her last night. But all the messages were about the mission and the two impossibles.

And this exactly why I didn't like working with a partner, constantly reminding me of what I need to do, Jennifer thought as she goes through the message. It is soo frustrating.

And moreover, there was something about this plan that didn't seems right with me at all. The only thing we were doing is to find out why they are here, follow up with their every move before we take them down.

But from what I saw last time it seems like they are not up to anything but their own business. I don't know why we can't just kill them right there at the bar. Because that's all I wanted to do starting from the moment Danny showed them to me. But 'no!' we have to stick to the plan. Stupid plan!

They reach Lisa's family house in 11th street which is next to Mercy's house. Lisa parks her Hatchback on the road side, kills the engine and turns to look to Jennifer.

"Are you ready?"

"If I say no can I go back home?"

"No!"

"Then am ready"

"Good let's go" she goes out of the car followed by Jennifer. "I promise you will have a good time" she said looking so happy as they headed to the front door.

They reach at the front door and Lisa rings the doorbell. A few moments later her father opens the door...

"Cupcake!" he said as he saw Lisa and Jennifer at the door. he opens his arms for a hug and Lisa jumps right in...

"Daddy!" she said as she gives him a big hug. He gives her a kiss on her forehead and then breaks the hug off and he turns looking at Jennifer.

"Come, bring it in" he says as he gives her a gesture of a hug and Jennifer walks in for a hug.

"Hey Mr. C" Jennifer said as she hugged him. Lisa's parents have always been like her parents to Jennifer and Jacqueline, ever since they mother died and they father was busy with work. Her sister and her were always found at Lisa's house and that's how they become best friends.

"Where is mum?" Lisa asked as she peeped inside the house while her father stood at the door.

"She is in the Kitchen." He answered "Come inside, let me go and tell her that you are here." he opens the door wide for them to get inside.

"Well, it's been long since I came here" Lisa said as they walked into the house. Her father heads to the kitchen while they went to the living-room and sat on the couch together.

After a few moments the door to the kitchen burst wide open and the delicious aroma of bored fish immediately filled the living-room. Mrs. C comes in the living-room with a big smile while Mr. C follows her behind...

"Where are my two beautiful girls?" she said as she burst in the room and immediately going hug them as she saw and they stood up.

"You two look thin." she says as they finishes hugging them.

"Mum!" Lisa said pretending to be upset for she doesn't like being told that she is thin.

"What? And if it's you, you look as if you haven't eaten in a month." She teased her as she checked her body out and Lisa feels imbarassesd.

"Actually she was even complaining on the way here that she is 'starving to death'." Jennifer said as if it's to gang up on Lisa.

"Jennifer!" she says as she looks at her with a pretentious evil eye, but Jennifer just shrugs her shoulders.

"Well it's a good thing you came, because am cooking your favorite food."

"Bored fish, I can smell it." She said as she sniffed like characters in a cartoon do when they smell something good and everyone laughs at her idiosychresy.

"Come on stop it." Her mother said as she gently gave her a slap on her chest while she blushed and smiled.

"Am serious I love your cooking mum."

"Then in that case, would you want to help me finish preparing it?"

"Would I?" she said with much excitement knowing that she get to pretest everything before it is even done being cooked.

"Come on let's go in the kitchen." She says as she grabs her pulls her gently towards the kitchen.

"Don't finish all the food Lisa!" Jennifer told her knowing what she plans on doing.

"No promises." She said as they entered the kitchen and Jennifer remained with Mr. C in the living-room smiling.

Mr. C heads to his sit that faces the TV "have a sit dear." He told her as he sat down and grabbed the remote in his hand turning on the TV.

"Thank you." Jennifer said as she took sit on chair which was right against the window facing Mercy's house showing clearly her front yield.

Mr. C turns on the News and the Reporter is giving an account of some known Murderer.

"Orial City is no safe with all this killing going around" Mr. C said with so much disappointment in his eyes.

"Tell me about it." Jennifer responded knowing what exactly is going on that obviously Mr. C has no idea about.

As they are watching the News Jennifer looks outside through the window and sees Peter and Jack coming out of Mercy's house. She hesitates thinking she maybe seeing things, but She gets up and goes to the window to get a clear look but they around entered they car and drove off.

"who are those gentlemen coming out from your neighbor's house?" she asked Mr. C as if she does know them.

"Oh you mean Peter and Jack?" Mr. C answered and this brought a cold feeling to her "they are friends' of Mercy, they have been coming to visit her for like a Month now." Mr. C added

"Have you ever met them?"

"No" Mr. C responded "they are not usually around unless at night."

"At night?"

"Yes, why are you asking? You like one of them?" Mr. C teased he smiled.

"No it's not like that?" she said as she blushed and went and sat back on her sit. "Isn't there any sports game today?" She asked as she sat down

"And that's why I like you." Mr. C said as they both smiled, he changed the channel from the news to a sports channel. And they started watching a game match of Man U vs. Man City.

Minutes later Mrs. C comes in the living-room with plates in her hands "Dinner is ready!" she says as she heads to the dining table followed by Lisa who is carrying the rest plates of food...

Mr. C and Jennifer stood up and heads to the dining table. They reach at the table as Mrs. C and Lisa finish preparing the table.

Mr. C sits followed by Mrs. C while Jennifer and Lisa sits side by side.

"let us say grace." Mrs. C says as they hold holds. Mrs. C gives grace and at the moment she finishes giving Grace they all say Amen. Mrs. C uncovers the food and start serving everyone.

"honey you won't believe whom Jennifer just showed interest in." Mr. C said as his food is served.

"oooo...tell me." Mrs. C replied as she served him his food.

"it's the two boys who can to visit Mercy."

"oh really, that's nice." she said as she smiled but her smile doesn't seem to be genuine.

"that's not true." Jennifer says as she tries to defend herself "Mr. C is lying for me."

"wait, what kind of boys are we talking about?" Lisa asked

"Some hot guys who come to visit Mercy next door." She said as she ate her food

"when Mum says hot guys what does she mean?" she asked Jennifer as she stares at her while she eats her food.

Jennifer looks up and finds her staring at her "oh they are hot but just not my type of hot." Jennifer said as she ate her fish.

"oh really, hot guys." She says it while she rubs her hands as the guys were which was about to eat.

"Forget about it." Mrs. C told her as she started looking like someone having naughty thoughts.

"Why?"

"Because I really don't think they are good people."

"you have started again."

"Maybe she has a point." Jennifer said knowing the guys being talked about and they true nature.

"You too." Lisa said disappointedly, but not that much because Jennifer wasn't into boys that way...

"Yeah, I mean we expect that from my stubborn wife here but you" Mr. C said

"What? I just don't believe anyone can be that nice without having anything under they sleeves. " she said trying to defend her point.

"Really mum?"

"Are you really that shocked, remember last time she thought your teacher was planning to r**e you just because he offered to tutor after school." Mr. C said.

"Yeah, I remember that, you made me miss school for like month. Although that wasn't that bad" Lisa said, of course she will be happy to missing school seeing that she never even liked going there in the first place. And the only reason the teacher offered to help tutor is because she was doing bad in her school work that she risking ever graduating from there.

"you almost got expelled..." Jennifer said

"yeah, still that wouldn't have been a bad thing" Lisa cut in without letting her finish the sentence.

"And it turned out to be that he was just trying be nice that's all" Mr. C added

"Okay sue me, but I know am right about this." Mrs. C said has she stood up with her finished plate of food trying to pretend to be upset.

"Yeah, like you were sure with the teacher" Mr. C said and they all laughed at his joke apart from Mrs. C.

A few minutes later, they all finished having they food and Jennifer went to the back yield to have some fresh air. Lisa and Mrs. C were in the kitchen clean up the after cook mess while Mr. C was in the living-room watching TV.

Jennifer gets her phone from her pants'pocket and types a message to Danny...

Jennifer:

The impossibles are staying in 11th street house number 5.

After a few minutes after she sends the message Danny replies to her message...

Danny:

Are they still there?

Jennifer:

No, they have gone out but they will return this evening so I've been told.

Danny:

Great, then we have a stake-out today.

Jennifer:

Copy that.

"Whom are you texting?" Lisa said from behind...

"no one." she says as she immediately turns off the phone and puts it in pants'pocket. She turns around and finds her standing at the door entrance. "how long have you been standing there?"

"not long enough." she replied "just came here to tell you it's time to go."

"alright then, let's go."

"so you are not going to tell me whom you were texting?"

"I told you it's no one."

"Okay, don't tell me but just know I will find out who it is."

"okay do what you want , but you will still find nothing."

"okay let's hope so."

Jennifer starts to head inside the and she passes a suspicious Lisa on her way in as she was standing at the door, and she follows behind.

They reach the living-room were Mr. C and Mrs. C were waiting for them. As they reach the room, Lisa goes and gives her mother a hug followed by her father and Jennifer does the same thing.

"Am going to miss you my baby girls" Mrs. C said emotionally "drive safely." she said looking at Lisa

"what?" she said trying to pretend as if she is not reckless driver.

"Don't worry I will be driving on our way back home." Jennifer said joke-fully as they headed out of the house.

"That's a relief to all who will be driving to night. " Mr. C said as they reach at the door and Jennifer and Lisa goes out of the door.

"I will have you all know that I am an excellent driver." she said trying to defend herself.

"yeah, yeah, let's go." Jennifer said as Lisa hugged her parents one last time and they left while Mr. and Mrs. C watched them drive off.
