They chatted for a few minutes while the tourists made their selections. Celina started to say something, then stopped, and looked unsure. “Is something wrong?” Naomi asked her. “No. Well. I don’t know if I should say anything,” the other woman said. “Hang on,” Rose said. “It’s our turn to order, you can tell us while we’re waiting for drinks.” Naomi decided on a muffin instead of a croissant, to go with her coffee, and started nibbling on it as she and Rose moved to the side to wait for Celina and their drinks. When Celina returned to them, she looked miserable. “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t have said anything.” Rose gestured to a small table a couple of feet away. “Why don’t we sit down while we’re waiting.
