Adam was by her side in seconds. She gritted her teeth as tears sprung in her eyes. She willed herself not to cry, but the throbbing pain tore her brain to pieces. Adam's eyes were frantic, roving around her legs as his forehead creased in worry. "Sit up for me please." His voice was smooth against the horrendous misery her ankle was putting her through. He placed a palm on her back, pushing her upright so that her back rested on his shoulder. She could feel his ragged breaths on her shoulders and even as the pain tormented her, the hairs on her neck stood erect. He moved around her and did a quick sweep of the area, grabbing a stick he found. He broke it in half and took off his backpack as well.
