Chapter 11

[Serena]

“Hello kitten” he drawled with a much lower voice than Alex.

“Hi Ryder. Can I ask you to do me a massive favour?” I replied hopelessly.

“Anything mate”

“ I need you to pretend to be Alex while we are with my friends” I said while Ryder used one clawed finger to trace my face.

“Ok” he said imitating Alex’s voice. I smiled and pushed his claws into his hoodie pocket and pulled his hood up.

“If you keep your head angled down then no one should notice the black eyes, hands in your pockets and no one will notice the claws and you just did a really good imitation of Alex’s voice. We should be alright” I rambled.

“Don’t panic mate. Stupid human getting drunk when you said no” Ryder growled and took his hand out of his pocket to hold mine. I put both of our hands into his pocket out of sight and then we started walking back to the group. Would this work?

Stupid human, getting drunk even though our mate said not to. I am so happy she decided to ask for me, even though I have to pretend to be Alex. I could tell she was flustered and really anxious, but I know how to pretend to be Alex. *Tell her I’m sorry* Alex murmured in my head, but i just ignored him. If he upset my mate then he angered me. Her scent was intoxicating and I couldn’t seem to keep my hands off of her, even though I was very careful not to hurt my little kitten. She held my hand and pushed both of our hands in my pocket and then we started to walk towards her friends.

[Serena]

My heart was beating so fast as we approached my friends. “I thought you were s**t- faced” Molly said to Ryder. I chuckled and replied with “he is quite the actor, but he is a bit tipsy” before Ryder could say anything. I could feel his eyes on me the whole time. He sat down first and kept his head angled down so his face was in the dark and no one would notice his eyes. I went to sit next to him, but in a blink of an eye I was sitting on his lap. “ While I am out I am going to enjoy every second of it, mate” he whispered in my ear in his low, husky voice. His hands now sat in my pockets so that his arms were wrapped around me and he had his head placed on the back of my neck. I shuddered as I felt his breath tickle my neck and he quietly chuckled. Meanwhile, all my friends were talking and laughing. “Your such an i***t, Molly” I chimed in after she confessed that she didn’t know her left from her right.

“What do you expect at this point?” Max slurred.

“Exactly. I am not even surprised anymore” Daniel chuckled while Molly held her middle finger up to each of us. I chuckled and shifted a bit on his lap due to my anxiety that I was too heavy as I am not a small girl. “Stop moving if you don’t want me to take you right here” Ryder growled and I immediately sat still while feeling something poking me. I immediately blushed and turned my face away from Ryder. “Comfortable Serena?” Lily said with a smirk on my face and I felt my face redden even more. Sensing my discomfort Ryder said “ let’s dance, guys” to take the attention off me. Jumping off his lap as fast as I could I led the way to the dance floor and made eye contact with the stranger from before who had a girl grinding on him. He had a light smirk on his face as he stared at me, but before I could even react I was spun around by Ryder. We all danced the rest of the night and it was so fun. I even got to get to know Ryder a lot better which was really nice. A part of me felt bad because I knew that Alex would be watching in the back of his head, but he shouldn’t have gotten drunk and Ryder was really good company and could pull off such a good Alex impersonation.
