Chapter 9

[Serena] When the doorbell rang, I opened the door expecting to see Alex standing there, but instead I saw my old friends from Enfield. Lily, Max, Daniel and Molly. “Surprise!” they screamed and I laughed in shock. We had a massive group hug. They all came in and we just talked and talked. “b***h, you haven’t called me in all this time” Molly said with a playful glare.  “I know, I’m sorry” I said to all of them. “It’s fine. You know we love you. I mean we have been planning this with your dad for two weeks” Max revealed and I smiled. “You shouldn’t have” I said looking down.  “Of course we should. We all miss you so much, S” Daniel replied and then continued “ and we want to see who you have replaced us with.” “I could never replace you guys” I said honestly.  “And the best part is, is that we are staying all weekend!” Lily squealed. We carried on chatting until the doorbell rang again. By this point, they knew a bit about Alex , obviously not his secret. I opened the door and there Axel was, leaning against the door frame with a pair of jeans and a hoodie on.  [Alex] “Hello kitten” I muttered pulling her close to me. I stopped still when I heard people in her house. “Who is here?” I asked.  “My best friends from when I was living in Enfield surprised me. They are staying here with me and leaving Monday morning” she replied. I smiled at her. Finally, I could find out about her old life that she never wanted to talk about. She had told me briefly about her mum, but I never pushed it. We walked in and I saw 2 boys and 2 girls. “Hi, I’m Alex” I introduced myself and I heard one of the girls mutter “oh we know.” Everyone introduced themselves and we were soon all talking. I kept my hand on Serena the whole time, trying to show the males that she was mine. “Let’s go out tonight. To a bar or something” Daniel said. Everyone agreed and so we decided to go to Marco’s, a private bar that my father rents out. They don’t know what we are, or who we are, only our names and that is enough to get us all in and have free drinks.  Lily, Molly and Serena had dressed up, but me and the boys weren’t bothered. When Serena came out of her bedroom wearing a neon pink body-con dress, I couldn’t take my eyes off of her. She approached me and asked “do I look ok?”  “You look a lot better thank ok” I replied. My wolf was so close to surfacing and as a result I could hear my voice was lower than usual. I pulled her into me and the urge to mark her was so intense. “I really want to mark you right now” I growled out and she moved her head away ever so slightly so she could see my face. I saw her confused look and muttered a quick “ I’ll explain later” before Lily and Molly came out of the bathroom. The boys were waiting in their car. Lily and Molly decided to ride with the boys leaving me and Serena in my car alone. “Mark ?” she asked me. “When werewolves find their mate they bite them on the neck to show that their mate belongs to them” I explained. She looked at me in shock and then said “so why didn’t you then?”  “Because I want to do it myself. Not when I know my wolf will take control. Also you didn’t know about it and I want to take it slow for you” I replied while placing my hand on her thigh in what I hoped was a comforting manner. The rest of the car ride we sat in silence. I could tell she was just processing all the information she had just heard. But as soon as we parked she left the car with a smile and was laughing with her friends. I felt a bit out of place so I stood near the car watching her walk towards Marlo’s with her friends. About halfway across the car park she stopped and looked for me. When she saw where I was she ran back to me with a smile on her face. “What are you still standing here for, come on slow coach” she said while wrapping her arms around me. I could see her friends were watching with smiled on his face. “I thought you might want some privacy with your friends” I told her. She rolled her eyes and tried to pull me forward, but unfortunately I didn’t realise what she was trying to do until she fell backwards and I had to grab her before she fell. “Curse your stupid werewolf genes” she whispered and I laughed while pulling her up. Her friends were howling with laughter to which she just scowled. She pulled my arm again and this time I was ready and moved with her. “Next time warn me when you try to move me around” I laughed.  “At least you caught me. I would have been mad if I hit the floor.” We went inside and it looked so good. It was quite dark here apart from the lights that were integrated into the bottom of the tables and the bar. I told them my name and we were escorted to a table near the bar. We decided to all have a shot of tequila which I knew would have no effect on me due to my stupidly quick metabolism.
