The Alpha's Claim

Angelika’s POV Okay... I get it now. The alphas were acting like someone had announced a competition and forgot to tell me. Every single one of them had that look. That confident. Annoyingly calm. “I already know how this ends” look. And honestly? It was getting entertaining. Because each of them seemed completely convinced that I belonged to them. Not a little convinced. No. Completely. Like they had already planned everything. The house. The future. Probably even what color curtains we would have. And I wasn’t even joking. These men had the confidence of people who had never heard the word no before. And unfortunately for them... They met me. The person who says no just because someone expects me to say yes. I mean... I understood why they were interested. I’m amazing. Obviously. But the way they acted like they could simply walk up and decide my life for me? Absolutely adorable. Almost. Almost. Until they started acting like I was some kind of prize to be won. Excuse me? I am a person. A very awesome person. But still. A person. --- Author’s POV Here we go again. Angelika has entered her “I am the main character and everyone should know it” phase. Which, unfortunately... Is every phase. --- Angelika’s POV First of all... I heard that. Second... You’re not wrong. Moving on. The room was filled with tension. Not normal tension either. The kind where everyone was silently challenging everyone else. The kind where one wrong sentence could turn into a disaster. And knowing my luck? Someone was definitely going to say that wrong sentence. --- Kieran’s POV Kieran stared at Angelika. She was standing there like she wasn’t surrounded by some of the strongest alphas in existence. And somehow... That was exactly what made her different. Most people would lower their heads. Show respect. Maybe even fear. Angelika? No. She looked like she was judging them. And honestly... She probably was. “She’s our mate,” Kieran said firmly. The words filled the room. --- Angelika’s POV There it was. The word. Mate. Again. I swear if I got a coin every time someone said that word around me, I would be rich. Actually... I’m already amazing. So I would be richer. “You all do realize I’m standing right here, right?” They looked at me. “Because everyone keeps talking about me like I’m not part of the conversation.” I pointed at myself. “Hello?” “Angelika?” “Person with feelings?” “Still here.” --- Author’s POV A shocking discovery. Angelika has reminded people she is a human being. Someone give her an award. --- Angelika’s POV Thank you. I accept. I would like to thank my attitude, my patience... Actually no. I have no patience. Let’s not lie. --- Jaheem’s POV Jaheem stepped forward. His expression was serious. “You don’t understand.” “The bond isn’t something we can ignore.” --- Angelika’s POV I raised an eyebrow. “And I’m supposed to just accept that because?” Silence. Exactly. That’s what I thought. “I’m not saying the bond means nothing.” I looked at all of them. “But it doesn’t mean you get to control me.” --- Dorian’s POV Dorian watched her carefully. Unlike the others, he understood. Angelika wasn’t rejecting them because she felt nothing. She was fighting because she refused to lose herself. And somehow... That made him respect her even more. “She’s right,” Dorian said. “She chooses.” --- Angelika’s POV Finally. A reasonable person. Everyone say congratulations. We found one. --- Author’s POV Dorian just earned points. --- Angelika’s POV Points? Are we ranking them now? ... Actually. Interesting idea. --- Author’s POV No. Absolutely not. --- Angelika’s POV Fine. Spoilsport. --- Keilan’s POV Keilan stayed quiet, watching the others. Unlike them, he didn’t rush. He knew Angelika wasn’t someone who could be forced. She would fight harder if they tried. “When you’re ready,” he said calmly, “you’ll make your choice.” --- Angelika’s POV I looked at him. Okay. That was actually... Reasonable. Suspiciously reasonable. I don’t trust reasonable people. They’re usually planning something. --- Author’s POV Angelika. That makes no sense. --- Angelika’s POV Exactly. That’s why it works. --- The room fell silent again. Five powerful alphas. Five different personalities. And somehow... All of them connected to me. That thought should have scared me. Maybe it did. A little. Because something about this wasn’t normal. The bond. The timing. The way they all appeared in my life at once. It felt like fate was moving pieces on a chessboard. And I hated not knowing the next move. --- Author’s POV And there it is. A rare moment. Angelika is actually thinking seriously. --- Angelika’s POV Don’t ruin it. --- I looked at the five alphas. They wanted answers. They wanted me. But they didn’t know something important. I wasn’t something to claim. I wasn’t something to own. If they wanted to stand beside me... They would have to prove they deserved that place. Because I wasn’t looking for someone to control my life. I was looking for someone who could handle it. And trust me... That was going to be the hardest challenge of all.
