Glancing around the room, I noticed nothing was out of place and nothing looked like it has been used. If it wasn't for the faint smell of my mate and the bag of clothes next to the bedside cabinet, I would never have thought someone had been here.
I left the room and retreated back to my bedroom. When I walked past one of the windows, a slight breeze blew past me. I stopped, lifting my head to the air and sniffed. A slight smile appeared on my lip as my Mate scent tickled my nose.
He must be outside.
I knew I really shouldn't be doing this and that I needed to rest, but the need to be with my Mate was slowly building and becoming very uncomfortable.
"It's now natural to be like this with your Mate," my wolf spoke, her voice very soft. "He should already marked us by now."
"I know," was all I said. She was completely right. I needed Tristan to open up to me. Tristan opening up, and confiding in someone? I chuckled quietly. That seemed almost impossible.
Quietly, I made my way down the stairs and through the house before opening the front door and stepping out into the night. A warm breeze hit my face, making me close my eyes and listen to the quiet night. Opening them, I walked down the steps like an old lady due to my sore body and gazed into the forest.
I'm not sure what it was, maybe an instinct perhaps, but something was telling me my Mate was in that forest. Ans that he wasn't too deep into them. Lifting my head to the clear night sky, I sniffed the air around me, hoping to catch my Mate scent.
Sure enough, the manly woody scent wrapped around me like a blanket. "Straight ahead," my wolf instructed, telling me the direction of our Mate. I eyed the edge of the forest cautiously, the memories of the other night bombarding me. I nervously ran a hand through my loose, recently washed hair.
Was I really going to do this?
Before I could turn around and run back to the safely of my house, I walked into the shelter o the thick tree. Come on, I encouraged myself as I timidly advanced in to familiar forest, following my Mate scent. I hugged myself as I glanced around my surrounding, noticing the way everything grew darker as I walk further into the thick body of the forest. I wasn't scared, but I was on high alert when a leaf crunched beside me.
Turning my head to my right, I bared my teeth threateningly at the direction of noise. I immediately burst out laughing as I watch a cute little chipmunk with a nut hanging out of it's mouth, scurry away tree. Harmless, I thought chucking under my breath. I continued to proceed a little bit more until I was a few meters from a river.
The smell of Tristan was very strong now as I nervously stepped out of the trees and walked to the river edge. The trickling of the water was the only sound that disrupted the peaceful night. My bare feet dug into the cold pebbled, making me shiver.
Maybe I should have brought a sweatshirt, I thought, rubbing my arms in attempt to warm myself up. After the creature attacked me that night, I found myself going from hot to cold. I suppose it was just the side affects of the Crocotta bite.
What an unusual name. I have never heard of it before. "Alpha Mike and your dad have though", my wolf reminded me. "Tristan too." I bit my lip in wonder. This whole situation was confusing the Hell out of me.
I walked up the river for a few more minutes until the smell of Tristan became so distinct, I stopped and covered myself behind a tree. Grabbing onto the tree branch infront of me, I gingerly peeked over it. My breath caught in my throat as my eyes landed on what has to have been the biggest wolf I have ever seen. Tristan beautiful black wolf sat at the edge of the river, his head bowed as he gazed into the river.
I couldn't believe how majestic and how glorious he looked, sitting under the moonlight. His black coat looked thick and glossy, appearing so inviting, I itched to run my hands through it. The sight infront of me left me astounded and was literally picture perfect.
My wolf purred in appreciation as we continued to see our physically perfect Mate. He was beyond gorgeous.
It was than that I realized how much of a creep I would looked if Tristan caught me looking at him over a tree branch at the early hours of the dark morning. I bit my bottom lip before looking down at my feet
I put a hand over my mouth to cover up the noise that desperately wanted to escape. Shaking my foot out, I flicked the dreadful thing off, sighing in relief as I watched it fly away. What an awful thing, I mused, shivering in repulsion.
Turning my head back around, I froze as I head a stick break behind me. My heart thudded in my chest as I glanced over to the place where Tristan was. My mouth dropped open in shock as I searched the dark empty space where my Mate was once just sitting. He wasn't there. I squeezed my eyes shut tightly and swallowed the lump in my throat.
Please please please, I chanted in my head. Please don't...Oh gosh.
I bit my lip and tensed as another noise came from behind me. This time it felt closer. Dangerously close. Taking a deep breath, I prepared myself to turn around.
Slowly, I turned around, my eyes instantly looking onto the figure a few feet away. There in all his glory stood my Mate.
Naked.
