The Boundary Line

Chapter 30

She took a shaky breath, shaking her head from side to side. "I don't know. I have never seen them before. There was two of them, I think one of them was the one that attacked you", she explained, her eyes watering. "I was out running last night and they captured me. They told me to cause problems between you and Alpha Tristan, they wanted you two to not trust each other." Crocotta, I instantly thought. So they were still lurking around here. The thought made me shiver. I was out in that forest last night.

The she-wolf infront of me sob brought me out of my thoughts. "They said that if I didn't do what they say, that they will hurt my family. That they will have fun torturing Bletch", she cried. "My little brother!" My mouth parted in shock, and guilt immediately washed over me. I had hit her and all she was trying to do was protect her family.

"We didn't know", my wolf assured me. I walked over to her and hesitantly wrapped an arm around her.She leaned into me and gripped my shirt, sobbing. "They were terrifying Luce",she whispered. I rubbed her back and looked over at Aria. She gave me a look of concern, then glanced over my shoulder. I followed her gaze and I wasn't surprised as I saw my dad, Alpha Mike, and Noah striding over to us.

I sighed and waited for them to reach us, while holding her as she calmed down. It was funny how one moment all I wanted to do was rip her throat out for kissing my mate, and now I was being all kin and gentle with her.

"What's going on here?" Alpha Mike booming voice asked, as he along with my dad stopped infront of us. I watched as Noah went over Aria, standing by her side. I sighed and let go of the she-wolf, she had  thankfully calmed down considerably. I ran a hand through my loose hair and turned to my dad, who was already looking at me in questions.

"How about we go back to the house. Everything will be explained there", I suggested, glancing over at Tristan who was looking out into the forest with a emotionless expression. My dad nodded in agreement.

Everyone set off towards my house, but I remained behind with Alpha Mike and my dad. I watched with longing as my mate disappeared into the mass of trees. I bit my bottom lip and put my hands in my pocket as I stared at my mate broad and muscular back until he was completely swallowed up by the forest. "What the hell is going on Luce? The whole pack could hear you guys." We began walking after Noah, Aria and Jennifer( the one who kiss my mate) walk towards my house.

I rubbed my head, trying to soothe the headache that was unfortunately making an appearance. I was still so confused over the whole situation. As we walked back through the village, I explained to Alpha Mike and my dad what had happened. By the time I reached the brown wooden steps leading up to my porch, I had finished explaining.

I opened the door and strode in. Sniffing the air, I knew Aria, Jennifer, and Noah were already here. I felt a bit disappointed as I realized that Tristan hadn't arrived yet. Shaking the feeling off, I tucked a my black hair behind my ear and walked into the living room with Alpha Mike and dad in behind. I sat down next to Aria on the couch, opposite the one Jennifer was sitting on.

Jennifer had her hands clasped together, resting on her folded legs. Her eyes looked red and puffy, and although she did kiss my mate, I felt like hugging and comforting her. She did after all, get threatened by those disgusting creatures. I shivered, while remember the memories of that night and encountering that dangerous creature. I cleared my throat, and was about to open my mouth to speak, when a rich woodsy scent blew past my nose. I folded my legs over each other and my heart sped up as I watched my mate came into the living room, immediately capturing everyone attention.

He looked around the room, his eyes instantly finding mine. I felt like collapsing back into the sofa at the intense look that my mate gave me, his eyes burning with an indescribable emotion. An emotion I couldn't figure out. I looked equally back at Tristan, catching a flicker of desire flashing in his eyes. To say I was surprised when he growled quietly in his throat, would be an understatement. My eyes widened and I felt a crease form between my brows. Why was he suddenly acting like this?

"His wolf wants us. They been fighting the bond", my wolf said quietly, but I could sense excitement behind her words. My heart jumped with joy at the part 'he wants us', but I frowned deepened at the 'they been fighting the bond'. "Only his wolf wants us?" I asked my wolf, not bothering to show my hurt. However, deep down I knew Tristan, well at least his wolf wanted us.

"No, of course not. Tristan wants us just much as his wolf does." I hid the smile that wanted to bloom on my face, upon hearing this. "Tristan is being careful with us. Being involved with him is more dangerous than we think." I sighed through my mouth and averted my attention back to the issue.
