"He's my Mate", I quickly explained, feeling the need to make my dad and Alpha Mike understand why I needed to go. "It wouldn't make sense for me not to go. Mates aren't supposed to be apart." Silence filled the room, my dad heavy breathing was the only thing we could hear. I watched my dad for his reaction. I knew deep down he would never keep me from being with my Mate. I was eighteen about to be nineteen, anyway so he really didn't have any control.
I felt sorrow for my dad. My sweet loving dad. After my mom passed, he didn't shut down like other would do after losing a Mate. In fact, he did everything he possibly could to make sure I was happy. I do't know how he did, considering my mom was one of, if not the most important thing to him. Although he didn't show much grief around others, but I remember hugging my teddy at night as I listened to my dad crying over his Mate dad and many times he pleaded for her to come back. That night, I prayed that would never happen to me.
I really hope it didn't.
"Fine."
I stared at my dad as he gave me a defeated look. "You're right. Who am I to keep you from your Mate?" I blew out a sigh of relief and walked more like hobbled over to my dad. As soon as I reached my dad, I wrapped my arms around him, very aware of my Mate eyes on my back.
"Thank you daddy bear", I whispered in his ear, using an old nick name that I gave him when I was little. I felt him give me a tight squeeze and pulled back. I gave my dad a small smiles, before looking around the room.
Alpha Mike was over the window, staring out into the forest, a hard look on his face. I was sad as I stared at Alpha Mike. I wanted him to be happy for me because he is my Alpha, he is like a second dad to me and not only to me but to the whole pack.
Ignoring the heavy feeling in the pit of my chest, I cheered up as I realized that I will be going with Tristan back to his pack. I wonder what awaits me there? When I turned my head to look at my Mate, I was surprised to find him already looking at me. His eyes regarded me carefully, the intense look only intensifying as I blushed.
I looked down at my feet, unable to look into my Mate eyes any longer. Every time my blue eyes met his dark brown ones, I felt myself getting attached to him more each time. I frowned as I wondered if Tristan felt the same way as I do when we make eye contact. I wondered if he felt the same way about me as I did about him.
Tucking a piece of hair behind my ear, I walked past Noah and Aria, who observe me quietly. Paying no attention to them, I walked to the foot of the steps, right where my Mate was standing. His eyes narrowed slightly as I was actually going to go up the stairs. His body stiffened as my arm brushed him to stand on the first step.
I rolled my bottom lip in my mouth, staring nervously at my incredibly attractive Mate. How in the world did I get such a unbelievably appealing Mate? He was honestly the most handsome male that I have ever come across.
"Uhh.." I shuttered like an i***t as my eyes connected with his. "I guess I should go.. umm pack", I made a hand motion with my thumb, pointing in behind me in the direction of my room. I turned around and with difficulty began to ascend the stairs. I hadn't even put my foot on the fourth step when a gruff voice cut me off.
"No."
