Third Person The boardroom doors opened wider as two security guards stepped inside. The room went still. Shareholders glanced nervously at one another, unsure whether this was still a corporate meeting—or something far more dangerous. Richard Kane stood calmly at the head of the table. “Escort Miss Carter out of the building,” he said smoothly. The guards moved toward Lila. Alexander stepped forward instantly. “Don’t touch her.” His voice was low but sharp enough to stop them. Richard sighed slightly. “Alexander, this spectacle is beneath you.” Alexander didn’t move. “She’s not leaving.” The tension in the room thickened.
