The bath was the best thing that had happened to me in five days.
I sank into the wooden tub and let the hot water do what it wanted. It reminded me that every muscle in my body had recently been abused. I didn’t care. It was hot and it was deep enough to cover my shoulders if I hunched, and for a few minutes I closed my eyes and let myself simply be warm.
The water embraced me, the liquid warmth penetrated my bones, much the same way that Jace’s body heat had engulfed me.
