Danielle POV I don’t even think. I just reach for the nearest thing I can grab, and my hand closes around the heavy candle holder that’s always sat in the middle of the table. I hurl it with a sharp cry. It smashes straight through the window. The sound of glass shattering is so loud, so sudden, that it freezes me where I stand. I stare at the broken pane, lips parted, breath caught halfway in my chest. Somewhere below, I hear a sharp shout, and my stomach drops. I stumble toward the window and look down just as Knox steps back from the edge of the sidewalk, his head tilted up, confusion on his face. “s**t,” I mutter, sinking down to the floor beside the wall, my legs folding awkwardly beneath me.
