Eighty-Four-2

616 Words

Ghost doesn’t even try to fight her off. He lifts his hands, expression somewhere between shocked and impressed. “All right,” he says slowly. “Message received.” She lets him go and walks out without another word. I stare after her, then look at Ghost. “You gonna follow her?” “Oh, I am,” he mutters and jogs out after her. I glance toward Echo, who’s still leaning against the far wall like none of this surprises him. He doesn’t say anything, just watches the door Charlotte walked out of with the kind of look that makes me feel like we’re all in over our heads. I sit down and try to catch my breath, but my mind won’t stop spinning. I hate hospitals. I hate the waiting. I hate how out of control I feel. All I want is to see Red. To know she’s going to be okay. Everything else is noise.
