Vesper POV I should’ve killed him. I had every reason to. He ran his mouth like he didn’t know who he was talking to, like I wouldn’t drop him where he stood if I felt like it. My hand was already curling, my pulse steady, and I was one breath away from ending him. The only reason I didn’t is because my sister, in all her bleeding-heart softness, actually likes the bastard. I was supposed to make a call. I should’ve done it twenty minutes ago. But Ghost and his attitude slowed me down. He always does. There’s something about the way he talks that pulls the worst out of me, like he wants to be punched. Maybe he does. I pull out my phone and dial the number with no hesitation and no pause. “Vesper,” the voice answers immediately. “I’ve got the details,” I say. “Midnight. It’ll be done.”
