Casper (POV)
As Mabelle and I stood at a distance, observing Lutar's confrontation with a mysterious figure cloaked in black, tension hung heavy in the air.
Lutar advanced with a calm demeanor, his every step exuding confidence. The assailant struck swiftly, aiming a dagger at Lutar's exposed neck. Yet, to our surprise, the blade failed to leave a scratch on Lutar. With a forceful stomp, Lutar retaliated, unleashing a powerful blast of wind that sent the assailant reeling.
"Filthy creature! You dare to threaten milord?" Lutar's voice thundered with righteous anger, echoing through the surroundings.
Undeterred by Lutar's display of power, the assailant, undeterred, threw their cloak into the air, disappearing in a swirl of shadows before reappearing behind Lutar. Chanting an incantation "pierce my enemy, steel arrow!!!". Steel arrows materialized, aimed at Lutar's heart, yet they dissolved into nothingness under his intense glare, fueled by the scorching heat of Lutar's mana.
Defeated but defiant, the assailant lay on the ground, a look of contempt in their eyes. "You're weak, like a mere pest,"he spat with arrogance "Be grateful, for you shall become food for my dragon."
Intervening swiftly, I commanded, "Stop! We will interrogate this person. Bring him to the palace."
With Lutar's expertise in magic, he bounds the culprit by chanting "rope of wrath" and mounts Lutar's dragon for the journey back to the palace. As we journeyed back to the palace, riding atop Lutar's majestic dragon, I couldn't help but be mesmerized by the breathtaking view below us. "Is this your first time riding a dragon, milord?" Lutar inquired, his voice filled with warmth and tenderness.
A smile graced my lips as I felt Mabelle's embrace, her arms wrapped tightly around me. Returning her affection, I gently held her hand, our eyes meeting in silent understanding. "Hold tight, milady," I whispered softly, a surge of warmth flooding my heart.
Upon our arrival at the palace, Lutar gracefully landed the dragon, ensuring our safety with each careful movement. With chivalry befitting a noble knight, he assisted Mabelle and me as we disembarked from the dragon's back. As Lutar escorted me to my chambers, his presence was both reassuring and comforting.
At the palace, as I expressed my desire to participate in the interrogation, Lutar nodded in agreement. With Mabelle tending to the room, I accompanied Lutar to the interrogation chamber.
Lutar roughly threw the culprit into the room, ready to deliver justice.
"I'll take it from here," I said, offering a gentle smile.
Lutar stepped back, standing behind me as I addressed the man with a calm voice. "What's your name, human?" I inquired, my tone soft yet firm.
"Not of your concern! I won't give you any of my words!" the man spat defiantly.
"But you speak, obviously," I countered, my voice unwavering.
"Stop making a fool of me, you stupid being!" he exclaimed, his defiance escalating as Lutar raised his sword menacingly.
"Lutar!" I called out sharply, halting his actions.
With a calming presence, I continued to speak with the man, offering him a choice. He could either join me, receiving wealth and protection, or he could depart, pledging not to harm innocent lives. His response was a mix of silence and contemplation, his eyes reflecting a tumultuous inner turmoil. Sensing his hesitation, I reassured him, emphasizing that everyone deserves a second chance.
Suddenly, he burst into tears, his emotions overwhelming him as he revealed his tragic past. His family had been torn apart by the very guardians who claimed to protect the people. Every village or town that resisted their rule faced annihilation, leaving behind a trail of devastation and sorrow. He explained how he had sought to prevent a newly born guardian from rising to power, out of fear and desperation to protect what remained of his world. Moved by his confession, I smiled warmly, understanding the weight of his burden.
Turning to Lutar, I instructed him to release the man from his bindings. As the ropes fell away, the man knelt before me, his resolve unwavering despite his tears. "Milord, take me as your servant," he uttered, his voice trembling with emotion.
"What is your name?" I asked gently, extending a hand of acceptance.
"I am Randal Machenchok, milord," he replied, his gaze steady and determined.
With a reassuring nod, I welcomed Randal into my service, recognizing the strength and loyalty hidden beneath his pain. He would become an important strong pillar for my journey.
Approaching the emperor, I presented my case for a territory of my own, envisioning a stronghold to serve the capital and its people. Negotiations ensued, and a settlement was secured, where I would establish my stronghold and assemble my army.
Returning to my chambers, I rested, preparing for the journey ahead. Mabelle brought nourishment, urging me to replenish my strength. though I can't feel hunger, I savor each bite, grateful for the taste.
As dawn broke, excitement coursed through me. Today marked the beginning of my journey to forge my own destiny. With Lutar, Mabelle and newly recruited Randal by my side, I embarked on this new chapter, ready to shape the future of my newfound territory.
