I wake early. As I open the door, I see Mabelle waiting. We exchange good mornings and head to the diner, where I plan to cook something simple yet unique to this world. In the kitchen with Mabelle, I decide to make a burger.
What will be their reaction to this odd recipe? I wonder.
In the kitchen, I ask Mabelle to choose some meat she likes. She picks beef from a 'Taurose,' a type of bull with pinkish meat. The flesh is so juicy that it squirts out like sprinklers—perfect for my recipe.
I instruct the mansion's chef to slice the beef into 1/4-inch pieces at a 45-degree angle. Without a meat grinder in this world, I'll rely on the chef's skill. He quickly cuts the thin slices into tiny bits, turning the beef into chunks of meat.
Next, I ask Mabelle for whole milk from a 'Cloud Cow,' which produces pure, clean milk. I mix two teaspoons of lemon juice into one cup of whole milk and ask the chef to whisk it vigorously. The chef, like a human mixing machine, effortlessly turns the milk into a solid.
"Milord, how could this be...?" the chef asks in shock.
"May I know your name, human?" I ask softly.
"I'm Reverie, the head chef of this mansion. It is my pleasure to serve such a great lord," he replies respectfully.
"Reverie, I want you to be my personal chef for this new recipe I'm creating. Will you accept?" I offer.
"I am gratefully honored to accept your offer, milord," he says happily.
I pat Reverie on the back and explain that the solidified milk is called butter. He looks amazed. "Milord, this new ingredient is splendid, but how will you use it?" he asks.
I smile and place the butter in a pan. It melts perfectly, and Reverie watches in awe. When the pan is hot enough, I spread the ground beef flat and flip it to cook both sides, making a perfect patty.
Setting aside the patty, I cook more while teaching Reverie how butter is made and how it enhances food flavor. Once we finish cooking the patties, I slice brioche into circles, forming buns, and prepare enough for everyone in the mansion.
I instruct Reverie to finely chop onions and garlic while I heat the pan. When he's done, I melt butter in the pan and ask him to chop the remaining meat chunks to extract their juices. As he chops, I sauté the onions and garlic. Once Reverie finishes, I strain the meat juices and pour them into the pan, mixing in some wheat starch to create a thick sauce that amazes Reverie.
With the preparation complete, I teach Reverie and Mabelle how to assemble the burger, starting with a bun base, then adding the thick sauce. I ask Reverie to fetch the contents of a 'Sheepouch' (a ruminant sheep) stomach. He strains the stomach's contents, separating the curds (milk solids) from the whey (thick liquid).
"Butter? Milord," he asks.
I explain that the curd is part of the butter-making process, and the whey is also useful. I preheat the whey and continue assembling the burger, adding the patty, the heated whey as cheese, special 'Red Orb Onion' (spicy and sweet), 'Blood Tomato' (pure red and perfect), and lettuce.
"Terminé!" I exclaim, kissing my fingers and making a smooch sound.
I tell them the burger is ready and has more flavors to explore. "Reverie, Mabelle, you are the first to taste this magnificent food—a burger!"
They take big bites and exclaim, "Hmmmmm... Delicious! Milord, this is splendid and divine." their faces filled with happiness and shock.
We continue building the burgers. After almost two hours, as the sun rises, Mabelle serves the burgers at the dining table where Lutar, Randal, Wishitar, and Money are sitting. Reverie serves Frederick and the other staff.
"Hmmm!... Delicious!..." they shout in unison.
Afterward, we all work together to make more burgers, serving them to everyone. I watch as they eat joyfully, thinking about how much happiness I can bring to this world by sharing my knowledge and creativity from my world and applying it in this magical one.
