Casper POV Leaving the capital of Red Dragon City, surrounded by my loyal subordinates and fellow travelers, we embarked on our journey towards the destination where I intended to establish my own settlement. Lost in contemplation within the confines of my carriage, I observed the passing scenery, my mind occupied with thoughts of the future. Abruptly, Randal's voice broke through my reverie. "Milord, as I scouted the area, I discovered evidence of surveillance," Randal informed me, his tone tinged with concern. "It's alright, Randal. Let them observe. We must demonstrate that we pose no threat," I reassured him, my voice calm and steady. "Milord, forgive my insistence, but I suspect they may be bandits. We should proceed with caution," Randal urged, his worry evident. " I appreciate your concern about our safety," I acknowledged with a reassuring smile, hoping to alleviate his concerns. "Yes, Milord, my service to you is absolute. I will protect you and every citizen under your care," he exclaimed fervently, his words filled with unwavering dedication, before disappearing from my side with the swiftness of a shadow. Turning my attention to Lutar, I reached out using telepathic connection. "Lutar, join me." Lutar appeared before me, his imposing figure a testament to his formidable skills as a warrior. "What do you need me to do, Milord?" he inquired, keen eyes gleaming with readiness for action. "I require your assistance in ensuring our peaceful intentions are made clear to our observers. Stand vigilant and safeguard every citizen traveling with us," I instructed, confident in Lutar's ability to carry out his duty with utmost diligence. With a respectful nod, Lutar acknowledged my command and set about his task. Mabelle stood by my side, her expression marked by concern. Sensing her worry, I reached out and gently clasped her hand, prompting her to meet my gaze. "What's on your mind, Lady Mabelle?" I asked, hoping to ease her fears, even if only slightly. "You're a noble man, Milord. You always prioritize our well-being and consider us as your own family. It brings me comfort," she replied softly, a smile gracing her lips once more. As our conversation continued, a sudden commotion erupted as figures emerged from the shadows, surrounding us. Panic swept through our group as cries of "Bandits!" echoed around us. Instantly, Lutar and our warriors sprang into action, forming a protective barrier around us as they followed my earlier orders. Amidst the chaos, one of the bandits stepped forward, demanding to speak with the guardian of our group - me. I made a move to confront him, but Mabelle grasped my hand firmly, shaking her head in silent protest. Despite my smile, she insisted on accompanying me, her determination evident in her grip. I stepped out of my carriage with Mabelle by my side, her hand clasped in mine. We approached the bandit who had summoned me, with no subordinates accompanying us except for Mabelle. Despite the apparent lack of backup, I felt reassured knowing Randal was discreetly guarding us from a distance. The bandit, who introduced himself as Wishitar the Wise, proceeded to use his craft to fashion a table and chair from a broken piece of carriage. Seated across from me, he extended his hand in greeting. "I am Wishitar the Wise, leader of these people," he introduced himself with confidence, shaking my hand. "I am Casper Lazarus Ripperton, the Guardian of Knowledge. You should consider yourself fortunate to know my full name," I responded, exuding confidence and a hint of superiority. Wishitar wasted no time in issuing his challenge. "Great spirit, I propose a challenge. If I emerge victorious, you and your followers will follow my lead. Should you prevail, I will become your loyal servant." "Very well. Let us begin," I declared with a smirk, eager to demonstrate my prowess. "Alright, let's get this started! Here's your riddle: there are two ducks in front of another duck, and there are also two ducks behind it. How many ducks are there in total?" Wishitar posed the question, a playful grin on his face. I smile, this is just a small game for me, it's like cheating in this world "the wisest, huh? I appreciate your talent, Wishitar, but you can't face me as your opponent in the name of knowledge. Absolutely the answer is three. Two ducks are in front of the last duck; the first duck has two ducks behind; one duck is between the other two." I answer "I'm not finished yet! Here's the second question: A farmer needs to cross a river with a wolf, a goat, and a cabbage. But here's the catch: his boat can only fit himself and one of the animals or the cabbage at a time. If he leaves the wolf and the goat alone together, the wolf will eat the goat. Similarly, if he leaves the goat and the cabbage alone together, the goat will eat the cabbage. How can the farmer bring all three across the river without any harm coming to them?" Wishitar presented the puzzle, a mischievous glint in his eye. As the solution dawned on me, I couldn't help but feel a pang of disappointment at the simplicity of the question. "Well, this one's a piece of cake. The farmer just needs to make a few strategic trips. First, he takes the goat across. Then, he returns alone and ferries the wolf across. However, he can't leave the wolf and the goat together, so he takes the goat back with him. Next, he leaves the goat on the original side and takes the cabbage across. After dropping off the cabbage, he goes back for the goat. Voila! All three make it across safely," I explained confidently, a smile spreading across my face as I realized the solution. "You're not bad, Wishitar, but it's clear who the true master of puzzles is here," I added, patting him on the head with a playful grin. "Wishitar never ceases to amaze me," I thought, observing the genuine smile on his face. "Here's the final question: what can run but never walks, has a mouth but never talks, has a head but never weeps, has a bed but never sleeps?" he posed, his expression one of genuine curiosity. Recognizing the answer immediately, I couldn't help but smile. "Ah, the answer is simple: a river," I replied confidently. Returning my smile, Wishitar eagerly awaited my own challenge. "Your turn, great spirit. Give me your hardest question, and I'll surely answer it," he urged. Returning his enthusiasm, I posed my question with a grin. "Alright then, here's one for you: what is weightless but takes two people to hold it?" I asked, curious to see his response. In response, Wishitar burst into hearty laughter, his amusement echoing through the air. "Milord, the great spirit of knowledge, I will gladly be your loyal servant and friend," he declared confidently, kneeling before me with unwavering loyalty. "Rise, Wishitar. I offer you the position as my personal right hand. Are you willing to accept?" I extended the invitation. "Milord, of course. It's an excellent opportunity for me. You're truly impressive, possessing the discerning eye of an observatory god," Wishitar responded confidently, his words filled with praise. Observing Wishitar's exceptional talents, I couldn't help but smile. As he promptly instructed his men to assist the citizens, we resumed our journey. Arriving at our destination, I beheld small houses, bustling market stands, and a grand mansion. Welcoming me was a distinguished man in his thirties, clad in a formal tuxedo, who greeted me with a refined accent. Likely the caretaker or butler, he led me through the mansion's well-appointed interiors, adorned with silver-tiled floors and elegantly embellished walls. Upon reaching the dining area, we indulged in a sumptuous feast. The dishes were extraordinary, each bursting with unique flavors and textures. "Who prepared this magnificent feast?" I exclaimed in delight. "The chef in this house is truly exceptional, milord. Thank you for appreciating their talents," the butler replied. Smiling, I turned to him. "And what is your name, good sir?" "I am Frederick, milord. I have served as the caretaker of this mansion for over fifteen years. It is my pleasure to serve you," he introduced himself, bowing respectfully. As I retired to my bed, I relaxed and awaited the dawn of a new day, filled with anticipation for the adventures that lay ahead.
