Chapter 5

He chuckled. He actually let out a half-hearted laugh. It was one of the strangest things I have ever heard but still coming second place to Jason’s singing.

“So, you wished not to be punished?” He asked.

I nodded.

“Well, it looks like we’ve come to an agreement then; you will not be punished since this is your first offence. I will attend to Mr Smith’s ‘’extra activities’’ during school hours. You may go Miss Woods.”

I nodded my head and grabbed my bag from my feet, muttered a quick goodbye and left his office. I sighed and went to my next lesson, which was History, I groaned loudly that I had missed lunch, I was starving!

Shane‘s POV

"What are we going to do? We can’t let her have the party while we aren’t not here." Jason said.

Katie was upstairs taking a shower to get ready for the party. Apparently she expects us to tidy up for the party and get everything ready.

"We have to cancel the party." Jason added like it was the only solution, but as quickly as he said it, Nate replied furiously, “No, Katie will hate us if we ever thought about cancelling her birthday party.”

"Damn," Jason said.

I remained silent thinking out a plan so this would work out. We had all forgotten about the visiting pack that is arriving tonight and we were expected to set up a meeting to welcome them. We usually would go over to the clearing across from the forest but we couldn’t leave Katie alone in the house with a bunch of drunken teenagers. It would scare her to feel so out of control in her own home. It was one of the many reasons we had never had one ourselves, plus teenage male humans under the influence was not a good thing to have around while she was here. She was a catch for any guy and they would love the chance to take advantage of her. There was no way in hell that was happening, not while my brothers and I were alive and breathing.

"We could have it here?" I suggested, thinking aloud.

"Yeah, we could. In the garden, we'd just have to kick everyone out for a while." Nate said and grinned proudly at me, while Jason looked around the house for valuables that could get ruined by tonight’s festivities.

"So, have we heard anything about these new wolves?" Nate asked.

For some reason Jason and Nate always looked at me for guidance and always respected my decisions, they always thought I knew everything, and this one time, I actually I did.

"Yeah, there are around twenty-three wolves ranging from fourteen to twenty-one including the Alpha. The Alpha Is called 'Z' its short for Zedon; he is nineteen years old and unmated. There were rumours that his parents were also killed by wolves and his sister died quite young but as of how she died was unknown. But from his past he has done quite well in the way he has handled his pack.” Jason looked back at us and said in a slightly worried tone,

"Katie, will have to come to the meeting with us, in her party gear, and she’s not mated.”

I understood what he meant in a few moments, and growls formed in the back of mine and Nate’s throats.

"We are to keep any male member of that pack away from her that looks like he wants to take advantage of her if you see one flirt or even looking at her with lust in their eyes-” Nate wasn’t allowed to finished because Jason added, "Nate, we can’t harm any member of that pack there here to make an alliance, let’s just go with it. If something happens we will be there to stop it in a moment’s notice, okay?” Nate and I nodded in agreement.

"I just hope that she doesn’t find her mate, tonight." I added shamefully.

“Why not he would make her happy?” Nate asked curiously.

“‘Cause, then she’ll leave with that pack. And I don’t think we could lose Katie.” No one replied.

Katie’s POV

I looked into the mirror and saw a different girl looking back at me. She was beautiful, her long silky brown hair was slightly curled, and was half covering her smoky black eyes that were surrounded the Aquatic-blue eye shadow in the centre, tonight this girl was me. I could hear the party had already started downstairs and I was praying that it was going well. Shane had told me earlier about the visiting pack coming tonight and we had to have a short meeting in the garden.

Smoothing down the shockingly short, red thigh length dress I added a matching pair of black ankle boots. I had a look in mom’s old clothes for something to wear tonight as the new me couldn’t find anything suitable in mine. Taking one last look in the mirror I made my way down the stairs noticing how many people were filled into such a small place. People were laughing, drinking, and dancing everywhere and it was hard to get through everyone to get to the large garden out back where the meeting was being held. Using my extra sense of smell, I smelled them before I saw the crowd of people, looking at my brothers and two other men who were of similar height. I rushed over to my brothers, when all eyes turned to me. Nate spoke up to introduce me to the Alpha and beta of the visiting pack

“This is our younger sister, also the Beta of the pack, Katharine." I shot a look at Nate for using my full name, I hated it!
