The next week is not very great. There are no available positions and I feel myself going crazy with the job hunt. Alice advises I contact a job agency to help me with the job hunting as they have the connections and Resources I don’t and I do. It’s been a week already since and I haven’t heard anything. I have to find something fast before the end of the month or I’m going to end up homeless and have to move back home with my mother. I don’t know what’s worse and I’m not looking forward to it.
Two weeks or one week to the end of the month and Alice says I’m going depressed. I have to cheer up and do something fun out of the house since I haven’t been
out of the house much lately. I don’t feel like it but Alice is kind of bossy. She has this party that their office is throwing and she asked me to come as her guest and mingle.
“There will be important people there maybe you can even find connections for your job besides you get to have free drinks and a lot of fun” she hugs me and invades my wardrobe to choose a dress for me
“I love this blue dress. It goes well with your eyes and hugs your curves perfectly” she puts it on the bed and picks up matching shoes then a clutch. Alice is a stylish designer so I know she knows what she is doing. I just watch her work my wardrobe to her full content.
“Why are you still sitting there? “She asks touching her waist
“I like watching you work it” I tease
“Take that shower, you’re going to make me late. I have a reputation to keep you know”
“I know. A reputation with the boss” she acts shocked and I hurry to take a shower
I get dressed up. Apply some makeup and off we go. Because Alice’s office is in the fashion industry there are celebrities and everyone is dressed to perfection, with those fake smiles and laughs as if everyone here is having the best time of their life. Wish I could say the same. I grab a drink and soon Alice has left to mingle with the guests as their company is hosting the event. There isn’t anyone to talk to really so I just walk around watching the scene from afar and exchanging those glasses.
I think the glasses of champagne I lost count of have started working their magic because when I decide to change my location and take a seat on the corner I bump into a suit
“Oh! I’m so sorry!” I didn’t even see him there he just appeared out of nowhere. I stumble a bit and he catches me so I look at him and he is watching me. There isn’t enough light on this corner and I don’t get much but that smile, those eyes and that face are Gorgeous.
I lose my grip on the glass and it shatters on the floor. It’s shattering and has him letting me go. He watches the ground as I watch his moves. He suddenly scoops me up and lands me on the other side
“Don’t want you falling or cutting yourself?” he says and I’m so surprised by that his action I think my eyes were about to pop off
“You are very beautiful” the way those words come out of that mouth I just stare at him some more
“What?”
“I’ll get someone to clean this up. Hate to be the cause of an incident” he kisses my hand and disappears into the crowd. After a few seconds, someone comes to clean up the pieces of glass.
I decided I have had enough fun for one night and left the party. It's cold outside and the stylist Alice didn’t demand we carry coats. I look around the street there are no cabs and I soon find myself hungry. Across the street is a bar and grill and I decide to have a hamburger and then go home. The place looks decent and it isn’t crowded. I sit at the counter and order a burger and fries. As I wait for my order I decide to continue having a drink. The bar isn’t crowded and there are three people at the counter. The bartender engages me in a small talk conversation before this blonde fellow takes sit beside me at the counter
He is good-looking and offers to buy me a drink. I decide I could flirt with him for a while before I go back to being alone in my apartment. He is funny and easy to talk to and I find myself having fun. The food comes and I dig in continuing throwing down those drinks as the conversation continues. I go to the bathroom and taking the distance lets me know I have had my limit of alcohol and it’s time to leave.
When I return to the counter I called the bartender to hand me my bill so I can pay and leave. He gives me the bill but I can’t find my purse and start looking around. Did I leave it in the bathroom? The blond offers to go look for it but he comes back without my purse. Now, this is embarrassing. I feel even drunker than I did a few minutes ago and I lost my purse with my phone in it.
The blond offers to pay the bills and takes me off the stool. I’m drunk but I haven’t completely lost it and I don’t like the way he’s handling me or the way he tries to eagerly get me out of the bar.
“Stop it what are you doing?” I shout as I try to get away from him but he is too strong for me. I don’t want to leave the bar with him
“I think the lady would appreciate letting her go” the voice stops both our struggles near the bar and we both turn to the voice. It’s the guy from the party. But he has lost his tie and jacket and I can’t help roaming the way his shirt hugs his muscles and that strong muscled chest and arms. mmh!
“Who the hell are you?”
“ I’m a man who won’t allow a lady to be mistreated”
“Are you a jealous ex or something? Because you never said she had a boyfriend”
“I think you should give the lady back her purse and let her go”
“come on man….. I….”
“Now!”
