# THE FACELESS SOUL
## Chapter 11: Noor
**2 Years Later. Lahore. Alina Villa. 4:17 AM.**
"BABA!"
Ayaan was awake before the word finished.
He was downstairs in 10 seconds. Bare feet. Grey hair. Heart in his throat.
Amina stood in the kitchen, holding a newborn wrapped in a pink blanket. Crying. Not her. The baby.
"Mama kahan hai?" Ayaan asked, already moving.
"Delivery room. Emergency C-section. She’s okay. Baby’s okay." Amina’s voice shook. "Baba, meet your daughter. Noor."
Ayaan took her. 6 pounds. Black hair. Aayat’s nose.
He looked at this tiny face and the last 22 years hit him all at once.
The mask. The blood. The fear.
And this. This was why.
"Hi Noor," he whispered. "I’m your Nana."
Noor opened her eyes. Dark. Just like her Khala.
Behind him, Amina sagged into a chair. "I thought we were gonna lose her."
Ayaan looked up. "Who?"
"Mama. There were complications." Amina wiped her face. "But she’s stable now."
Ayaan walked over and hugged his daughter. With the baby between them. "You did good, jaan."
---
**3 Days Later. Home.**
The house was chaos. Beautiful chaos.
Aayat in bed, pale but smiling.
Amina running legal + baby duty.
Ayaan doing everything else. Cooking. Laundry. Night feeds.
At 3 AM, Ayaan was rocking Noor when his phone buzzed.
Unknown number. Text.
*Congratulations on the new baby. She’s beautiful. Shame if something happened to her. - G*
Ayaan froze.
G.
Ghost.
But they were all in prison.
He looked at Noor. Then at the security cameras. Then at Amina’s door.
He didn’t wake anyone.
Not yet.
---
**One Week Later. Alina Foundation.**
Amina was in a meeting when her assistant burst in. "Ms. Malik, there’s a man here. Says he’s from Child Services. Wants to see baby Noor’s records."
Amina stood up. "We don’t give out records. Who is he?"
"Didn’t leave a name. But he’s... he has a tattoo. On his neck. A ghost."
Amina’s blood went cold. "Baba."
Ayaan was already in the room. "I saw the cameras. Get Noor. Now."
They moved. Fast.
By the time security reached the front desk, the man was gone.
But he left something.
A white mask. On the reception table.
And a note: *Family is a weakness. - G*
---
**That Night. Family Meeting.**
Ayaan. Aayat. Amina. Hamza.
"He’s not in prison," Hamza said. "Rayan’s cousin. Danish’s younger brother. Name: Zain. 24. We missed him."
"Because he was 14 when Victor died," Amina said. "He grew up hating us."
Aayat held Noor tight. "He wants revenge."
Ayaan nodded. "And he’s using the same playbook. Threats. Fear. Masks."
Amina looked at her dad. "So what do we do?"
Ayaan was quiet. Then: "We end it. For good."
---
**2 Weeks. Surveillance. Dead ends.**
Zain was a ghost. No address. No bank. Nothing.
He’d send a text. Then disappear for days.
A photo of Noor at the park.
A photo of Aayat at the hospital.
A photo of Amina leaving court.
The message was clear: *I can get to you anytime.*
Amina stopped sleeping.
Ayaan stopped sleeping.
Aayat stopped sleeping.
Until one night, Amina broke.
"Baba, we can’t live like this," she said. "With Noor. We have to do something."
Ayaan looked at his granddaughter sleeping in the crib. "I know."
"What?"
Ayaan walked to the safe. Opened it.
Inside: not a mask.
A hard drive.
"The original USB," Ayaan said. "From 19 years ago. It has everything. Every name. Every account. Every shell company Victor and his family used."
Amina stared. "I thought we destroyed that."
"I kept a copy." Ayaan met her eyes. "In case."
"In case of what?"
"In case someone like Zain came back."
Amina understood. "You want to leak it."
"I want to burn them. All of them. Legally." Ayaan handed it to her. "You’re the lawyer now."
---
**48 Hours Later.**
Amina didn’t sleep. She worked.
With the USB, with Interpol, with the FBI, with 6 countries.
She built a case.
Money laundering. Trafficking. 200+ victims.
And she leaked the first 10% to the press.
Headlines: "THE GHOST NETWORK EXPOSED"
Bank accounts frozen.
Arrests in 4 countries.
Zain’s name was on page 1.
That night, another text:
*You think this stops me? You killed my family. - G*
Amina replied: *You’re next.*
---
**The Trap.**
They knew he’d come.
For revenge. For the USB. For Noor.
So they set a trap.
Legal.
Foundation office. After hours.
Amina alone. "Working late."
Cameras everywhere. Police 2 blocks away.
At 1 AM, he came.
Zain. Young. Angry. White mask.
"You," he said, pointing at Amina. "You ruined everything."
Amina didn’t move. "Zain. Let’s talk."
"I don’t talk to Malik’s."
"Then talk to the law." Amina slid a folder across the table. "200 years. That’s what you’re looking at."
Zain laughed. Pulled a gun. "Or I kill you and take the drive."
The lights came on.
Police.
Hamza.
And Ayaan in the doorway.
"Drop it, son," Ayaan said.
Zain turned the gun on him. "You! You took everything!"
"I took nothing," Ayaan said. "You did this to yourself."
Zain hesitated.
That was enough.
Police tackled him. Gun skittered away.
It was over.
---
**Court. 3 Months Later.**
Zain got 40 years.
No parole.
In his victim statement, Amina said: "My family was built from pain. But we chose to build something else. Hope."
The judge cried.
---
**1 Year Later. Alina Villa. Noor’s First Birthday.**
Balloons. Cake. Family.
Noor was crawling, grabbing everything.
Amina was filming.
Aayat was cutting cake.
Ayaan was just... watching.
Later, after everyone left, Ayaan took Noor to the roof.
Same roof. 22 years later.
"Hey little one," he said. "This is where it started. With your Nana and your Khala."
Noor gurgled and grabbed his finger.
Ayaan smiled. "You know what? I used to think I was cursed. That everyone I loved would get hurt."
He looked at the stars.
"But then I realized... love isn’t a curse. It’s the reason to fight."
He kissed Noor’s forehead. "And you? You’re my reason now."
From downstairs, Amina called: "Baba! Cake!"
Ayaan stood up. "Coming."
He carried Noor down.
No mask.
No ghosts.
Just a grandfather.
---
**Epilogue: 5 Years Later.**
Alina Foundation: 60 shelters.
Amina: 27. Running the legal arm globally.
Ayaan: 57. Teaching "Ethics in Business" at LUMS.
Aayat: Healthy. Running the Foundation.
Noor: 5. A tornado. Already asking "What’s Faceless?"
One night, Noor found an old photo.
Ayaan in a black coat.
"Nana, who’s this?" she asked.
Ayaan looked at it. Then at Amina. Then at Aayat.
"That," he said, "was a man who was lost. And found his way back."
"How?"
"Because of love," Aayat said, pulling Noor into her lap. "Because of family."
Noor thought about it. "I want to be like you when I grow up."
Ayaan laughed. "Be better."
---
**Final Scene.**
Years later, a news article:
"AMINA MALIK NOMINATED FOR NOBEL PEACE PRIZE FOR WORK IN ANTI-TRAFFICKING LAW"
The photo: Amina, Ayaan, Aayat, and little Noor, all at the Foundation.
The caption: *The family that chose light.*
And somewhere, in a box in the basement, was a blue mask.
For the kids.
To remind them: Someone is watching. Someone cares.
The man with no face was gone.
But his name lived on.
Malik.
