# THE FACELESS SOUL ## Book 2 - Chapter 1: The Counselor ## Chapter 12: Geneva and the Ghost Files **7 Years Later. Geneva, Switzerland. UN Headquarters. 9 AM.** Amina Malik, 28, walked into Room 4B and 40 people stood up. She hated that. "Ms. Malik," the UN Secretary General said. "Thank you for coming." Amina nodded. Black suit. No jewelry. Hair in a tight bun. On her lapel: a tiny blue pin. The Alina Foundation logo. "Let’s not waste time," she said. "You called me because 12 girls went missing from 3 UN shelters in 2 weeks. And the local police have nothing." The room was silent. "So I’m here to tell you what you already know," Amina continued. "It’s them again." A man from Interpol cleared his throat. "The Ghost Network was dismantled 7 years ago." Amina smiled. Not nice. "Ghosts don’t die. They rebrand." She clicked a remote. On the screen: a new symbol. A white ghost, with a red line through the eyes. "We’re calling them 'Specter,'" Amina said. "Same families. New name. New tech. Crypto payments. Dark web auctions. And they’re targeting UN facilities because they think you can’t touch them." A woman from the US delegation spoke. "Ms. Malik, with respect, what can you do that we can’t?" Amina looked at her. "I’m not afraid of them." --- **That Night. Geneva Hotel. 2 AM.** Video call. Lahore. "Baba?" Amina said. Ayaan, 64 now, grey beard, was in his study. "Beta. Kesi ho?" "Tired. Angry." Amina rubbed her eyes. "They took 3 more girls last night. From a shelter in Berlin." Ayaan was quiet. "You sound like me. 20 years ago." "I am you." Amina smiled weakly. "That’s the problem." Ayaan leaned forward. "Amina. Suno. You don’t have to do this alone." "I’m not alone. I have the Foundation. I have Interpol." "You have me." Ayaan’s voice was firm. "And your mother. And Noor." At the mention of Noor, Amina softened. "How is she?" "12 saal ki ho gayi hai. Aaj poocha 'Khala, aap Ghosts ko pakarogi?' Maine kaha 'Haan.'" Amina laughed and cried at the same time. "Give her a hug for me." "I will." Ayaan paused. "Beta, careful rehna." "Always, Baba." The call ended. Amina sat in the dark. On her laptop: 3000 pages of "Specter" files. She opened the first one. Name: "Project Lazarus" Goal: "Rebuild what Faceless destroyed." Her hands shook. Not from fear. From rage. --- **3 Weeks Later. Berlin. Underground.** Amina didn’t go with police. She went alone. Hoodie. Jeans. Burner phone. She posed as a buyer on the dark web. $50,000. "3 girls. Ages 10-14." The reply came in 1 hour: *Warehouse 9. Port. Midnight. Come alone.* Amina smiled. "Got you." She told no one. Not Interpol. Not her dad. At 11:55 PM, she walked into Warehouse 9. It was empty. Except for one man. Late 30s. Suit. And a white mask with a red X over the eyes. "Ms. Malik," he said. "We’ve been waiting." Amina didn’t flinch. "Specter." "Correct." He clapped. "You’re even prettier than in the photos. Your father’s daughter." "Where are the girls?" Amina asked. "Safe. For now." He tilted his head. "Unless you do something stupid." Amina took a step forward. "I’m not here to fight. I’m here to talk." "About what?" "About the fact that you’re going to prison for 400 years." Amina pulled out her phone. "And that the police are outside right now." The man laughed. "Are they?" The doors burst open. German police. But the man was already gone. Through a trapdoor. And on the floor: 3 girls. Tied. Gagged. Alive. Amina ran to them. Cut the ropes. "It’s okay. It’s okay. I’m Amina. I’m here to help." One girl, maybe 11, grabbed her hand. "Are you Faceless?" Amina froze. "No, jaan. I’m Amina. But my dad was." The girl nodded. "Good. Then we’re safe." --- **48 Hours Later. UN Emergency Session.** Amina stood at the podium. The 3 girls were behind her, with social workers. "This is what Specter does," Amina said. "They don’t care about borders. Or laws. Or children." She played a video. The man in the mask. His voice. "We will rebuild. We will make Malik pay." The room erupted. Amina raised her hand. Silence. "I propose 3 things. One: Global task force. Under my command. Two: Freeze all crypto wallets linked to Specter. Three: New law. 'Amina’s Law.' Minimum 40 years for trafficking a minor." A delegate stood. "That’s extreme." Amina looked at the girls. "They were 11." The vote passed. Unanimously. --- **1 Month Later. Lahore. Home.** Amina was home for 3 days. Noor, 12, was glued to her. "Khala, story sunao. Specter wali." Amina looked at her dad. Ayaan nodded. So Amina told her. Not the blood. The strategy. The law. The girls she saved. When she finished, Noor was quiet. Then: "Khala, main bhi lawyer banungi. Aap jesi." Amina hugged her. "You’ll be better." That night, Ayaan and Amina were on the roof. "Baba, I’m scared," Amina said. "Of what?" "Of becoming you. Of the rage. Of wanting to hurt them back." Ayaan put his arm around her. "The difference between you and me, jaan?" "What?" "I did it in the dark. You’re doing it in the light." He kissed her head. "And that makes you stronger." Amina leaned on him. "Thank you. For showing me how." --- **3 Months Later. Dubai. Specter’s Bank.** Biggest raid in history. $400 million frozen. 20 arrests. Including the man from the warehouse. Name: Elias. Specter’s #2. In interrogation, Elias smiled at Amina. "You think this ends it?" Amina leaned in. "No. But it ends you." --- **6 Months Later. The Hague.** Trial. Televised. Elias and 19 others. Amina was lead prosecutor. She didn’t yell. She didn’t cry. She just told the truth. For 6 hours. When the verdict came: Guilty. Life. All of them. Outside, reporters swarmed. "Ms. Malik! How does it feel?" Amina looked at the camera. "It feels like justice. But justice isn’t a feeling. It’s a job. And I’m not done." --- **Epilogue: 1 Year Later. Alina Foundation Gala. Lahore.** Amina, 29, in a white dress. Receiving the "Global Human Rights Award." Her speech was 2 minutes. "I used to think my name was a curse. Malik. Daughter of Faceless. Tonight I know it’s a promise. A promise that no child will be forgotten. That no ghost will go unanswered. That love is stronger than fear." She looked at her family in the front row. Ayaan. Crying. Aayat. Proud. Noor. Holding a sign: *My Khala is my hero.* After, Noor ran up. "Khala! Can I wear the blue mask?" Amina laughed. "Not yet. When you’re 18." "Deal." Noor hugged her. "Love you." "I love you too." Later, Ayaan found Amina alone, looking at the city. "Proud?" he asked. "Exhausted," Amina said. "But proud." Ayaan handed her chai. "You did good, Counselor Malik." Amina took it. "We did good, Baba." Below them, Lahore was bright. No ghosts tonight. Just a woman who chose law over rage. And a man who taught her how. --- **Teaser for Chapter 13:** Encrypted email to Amina: *Subject: We have Noor.* *Attachment: Photo of Noor at school. Circle around her head.* Amina’s phone drops. --- ### END OF CHAPTER 12
