CHAPTER 6

Daisy

The driver opened the back door of the car for me and closed it after I’ve sat down.

The event was taking place in one of Mr. Alexander’s hotels.

We got there after like 30 minutes, there wasn’t any traffic jam, thank God.

Again the driver opened the car door for me, “Thank you,’ I said.

The paparazzi weren’t here yet, thank God, only a few staffs had arrived.

“Ohh myyy, look at you, guys take a look at Daisy,” Jane exclaimed.

And everyone’s eyes turned towards me.

“Wowww, you look so pretty,” Annie said.

Everyone complimented me.

“Thank you”.

Jane, Annie and a few others there, were all my friends.

“Jane, I hope you’re prepared?” I asked , Jane was the host for the event.

“Honestly, a little nervous”.

“You’ll be fine, you’re with the Order of proceedings right?” I asked.

“Yeah “.

The grand ballroom was abuzz with excitement as guests began to arrive for the takeover celebration of TechNova.

The lights were dimmed, and the stage was set with a sleek, modern backdrop.

Backstage, I was busy coordinating the final details. I checked my watch for what felt like the hundredth time, ensuring everything was on schedule.

“Mr. Alexander, it’s time,” I said, gently tapping on the door of Mr. CEO ‘s dressing room.

Mr. Alexander Grayson emerged from the room, adjusting his cufflinks, looking as handsome as ever.

“Thank you, Daisy. Let’s make this a night to remember.”

“And you look very.... Pretty by the way,” he said smiling at me.

“Smart enough?” I asked.

“Definitely,” he said.

I smiled and handed him a glass of water. “You’ll do great, sir.

I’ve confirmed the order of proceedings with Jane, everything is in place.”

As we made our way to the stage, I took a final glance at my notes, ensuring I hadn’t missed anything.

Jane, with a bright smile stepped up to the microphone.

“Good evening, ladies and gentlemen!” she exclaimed, her voice echoing through the room.

“Welcome to the takeover celebration of TECHNOVA!”

The audience applauded, and the celebration began.

I took my place at the back of the room, keeping a watchful eye on the proceedings.

As the night wore on, I ensured the transition between speakers was seamless, coordinated the video presentations, and even handled a last-minute request from the catering team.

The takeover celebration was a resounding success, with Mr. Alexander Grayson delivering a powerful speech and the audience showing their appreciation with a standing ovation.

As the evening drew to a close, I breathed a sigh of relief. It had been a long day, but everything had gone according to plan.

“Thank you, Daisy,” Mr. Alexander said, as he shook my hand. “You’ve done an outstanding job. I couldn’t have asked for a better assistant.”

I smiled, feeling a sense of pride and accomplishment. “It was my pleasure, sir Congratulations on a successful takeover celebration.”

I was surprised and happy at the same time, this was the first time he had ever praised my work, seems like he’s in a good mood.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it’s time to dance, pick your partner and dance to the music,” Jane said cheerfully, and the music began, it was a slow music.

Sarah came up to him, “let’s dance,” She said and held his hand.

She looked so elegant and beautiful in her black dress that suited her alabaster skin.

I decided to look for Ethan, I hadn’t seen him today since I was busy, I finally found him.

“Good evening Ethan,” I greeted.

“Woww, you look so pretty,” he praised.

“You look handsome too,” I said smiling.

“May I have a dance with you my lady,” he said bowing down.

“Sure,” I laughed at how dramatic he was.

He put his hand on my waist while my hands were around his neck as we danced, we caught up on stuffs and we laughed at our jokes.

“It’s been long since I’ve seen Jess, how about I come by your house today?” He said.

“Sure, that’s fine, she’s at my house anyway,”.

All of a sudden, Ethan went flying and crashed on the floor .

“Oh my God, Ethan, are you ok?,” I gasped coming close to him.

“I’m fine,” he said standing up.

He got bruised at the side of his face and he held his stomach like he was in pain.

I looked at the culprit and it was Mr Alexander.

“Why did you punch him?” I asked.

“Why are you dancing with him?” He asked angrily.

He looked around and saw that he was drawing attention.

“Stay away from her,” he whispered angrily to Ethan and dragged me out from the room into one of the rooms in the hotel.

I was starting to get scared.

“What’s the matter with you?” I asked angrily, I was so done, I don’t care if he fires me......okay maybe I care but he’s so annoying .

“Why are you dancing with that guy?” He asked irritated.

“He has a name, and it’s because I want to...Sir,” I said irritated too.

“Why was his hand on your waist?”

“Excuse me .. that is none of your business,” I said angrily.

“Answer me!!” He yelled.

“Cos he’s my best friend and I can do whatever I want,” I said matching his energy.

He stepped close to me and I stepped back, we were facing each other, so it continued till I hit my back against the wall.

“I don’t like that,” he said, his face was close to mine, his hands were beside my face caging me.

“ That should never repeat itself,” he commanded.

“This is none of your business Sir,” I said my heart beating loudly.

“Do you understand,” he said hitting the wall beside me.

I jumped a little in fright “Okay Sir,” I said.

He stared down at my lips, “I hope he doesn’t kiss me," I thought.

His face kept getting closer and closer so I turned my face just in time and he ended up pecking my cheek .

I pushed him by his chest away from me, he smirked and I angrily walked out from the room.
