Alexander Grayson
I got home exhausted.
No, exhausted wasn’t even the right word.
I was pissed.
So pissed that Sarah had the audacity to walk into my office unannounced, introducing herself as my fiancée in front of my employees like she owned the place.
The woman was unbelievable.
She just couldn’t leave me the f**k alone.
I loosened my tie and tossed it onto the couch before pouring myself a glass of whiskey.
One sip.
Then another.
It did nothing to calm me.
I hated losing control.
I hated people making decisions for me.
She acted like I had asked her to marry me and had the nerve to ask me when our wedding would hold.
I let out a frustrated sigh and sank into the couch.
My thoughts drifted back to the office.
To Daisy.
I was irritated when She referred to Sarah as “my fiancé”
Daisy was a good assistant, She was way better than the rest of my employees.
Most people either feared me or tried too hard to impress me, Daisy simply did her job.
She still annoyed me but for some strange reason, having her around had made the rest of the afternoon bearable.
I took another sip of my whiskey.
Maybe asking her to stay late wasn’t such a bad idea after all.
My phone buzzed. It was a text from Cole, my best friend.
“Come out.”
“Not in the mood.” I replied.
“Exactly why you should come.”
“No.”
Two seconds later my phone rang.
“What?” I answered.
“You’ve been working too much.”
“I’m fine.”
“No, you’re grumpy.”
“I’m always grumpy.”
He laughed.
“Meet me at Eclipse in thirty minutes.”
“I’m not going.”
“You are.”
“I’m not.”
“I’ll be at your place in twenty.”
The call ended.
Idiot.
Exactly twenty minutes later, he was banging on my front door.
“You know you’re annoying?”
“I’ve been told.”
“By everyone?
“Pretty much.”
I grabbed my keys and changed into casual attire.
“If I go, you’re buying the drinks.”
“Deal.”
We arrived and club was packed.
I hated crowds but I couldn’t possibly say no to Cole.
Music blasted through the speakers while colorful lights flashed across the room.
Cole, on the other hand, looked like he’d come home.
“Dude,” he grinned, handing me a drink. “Relax.”
“I am relaxed.”
“You look like you’re about to fire the DJ.”
“I might.” I said, I was irritated.
He rolled his eyes.
Within minutes he’d disappeared with a brunette he’d met less than five minutes ago.
Typical Cole.
I remained at the bar.
A woman slid onto the stool beside me.
“Hi.”
I glanced at her.
She was beautiful, Long blonde hair, Perfect smile, expensive perfume.
“I’ve seen you around,” she said.
“I doubt that.”
She laughed.
“Can I buy you a drink?”
“I’m already drinking.”
“Ouch.”
She moved closer.
“So... what brings a handsome billionaire here all alone?”
I already regretted coming.
She rested a hand on my arm.
I looked at it.
Then back at her.
Nothing, absolutely nothing, I felt nothing.
Not curiosity, not attraction, nothing.
The face of my assistant was stuck in my head, the way she bit her lips when She was confused.
How She fidgeted under my cold stare.
Fuck!!
“I’m leaving.” I said as I got up
Her smile disappeared.
“So soon?”
“Yeah.”
I paid the bills and walked away before she could stop me
.
Outside, the cool night air hit my face.
“What happened?” Cole asked, jogging after me.
“Nothing.”
“You were inside for barely twenty minutes.”
“I’ve had enough. I wasn’t feeling it,” I said
“You didn’t even try.”
“I wasn’t interested.”
“In any of them?”
“No.”
Cole stared at me.
“Damn.”
“What?” I asked annoyed.
“I think something’s wrong with you.”
I unlocked my car.
“There isn’t.”
“There has to be.” He insisted and I rolled my eyes.
“You seriously mean to tell me not one woman in there caught your attention?”
I thought for a second.
“No,” I said and entered my car.
“See you tomorrow,” I said and drove off.
