The Aftermath of Her

 " I'm not sure if she is who you have been with but she is a mess. I will do my best to give you a good rest of your life, if you will let me" Sharon said to Markus

    "No that is not who she originally was. She grew into that with jealousy. She was nice and a girl i loved until you came along. Having you changed me. It made me see that the happily ever after does exist in reality and it's so few that actually get to find it. You are me happily ever after. I don't think there is one thing that we could go through that we couldn't face and survive together. As long as you are with me I will have a good rest of my life. Just so you know I expect you to make the rest of my life good."

    "I think she brought out more then I expected."

    "What do you mean by that?"

    "I mean I didn't know I was jealous over you and willing to fight for you until she showed up."

    "How do you feel about that? I mean are you okay with that? Does it hurt or disappoint you?" Markus asked truly concerned about her well being.

    "I'm surprised that it was so immediate and strong. Then I'm not because you bring out really strong emotions in me, from the first time we met. "

    " Does that mean that you are okay or is this something we need to discuss more?"

    "It means I'm perfectly fine and don't require anything else. Just know that my feelings for you are very strong, so you better not be playing with me because it's going to be trouble for you." 

    " I am very serious about you. What else do I have to do for you to know that i'm dedicated to us?"

    "Come over to my house right now and give me a good night kiss. The proof is in the pudding"

     "I'll see you in 5." He was getting in the car to go to her house. 

    "I'll say goodnight and you can go tend to your guest and you call me once she's on her flight. Night."

    "Night."

    There was a knock on the door. I wonder who that could be coming to my house then time of night.

    " Ohh I didn't think you'd come."

    He stepped inside pulled her into his arms and gave her the kiss he had been wanting for years. He pulled back when they were both breathless and gasping for air.

    "Never tell me something I can do to prove anything to you, because I will always do it. I mean it when I say it's our time. Time for us to have a life together. I'm not just saying words to you, I'm going to back up every single thing i say to you. I have to prove myself to you so I will be doing every single thing you ask of me no matter how big or small. You are going to get it. Understand me now?"

    " No. Why?"

    "Because right now I have to prove that you are my present and future and my past doesn't matter. They only thing in my life right now is making sure you feel loved, protected, wanted and secure with me. In my arms and know that i'm always by your side helping you move forward to where ever it is you want to go. If there is nothing else mom is waiting for me beautiful."

    " No there is nothing head home to your mom and tell her I said hi. Be careful driving, love you." She looked shocked 

    " Night. Love you too. I will be careful. I'll call you when I get to mom's" He kissed her cheek and left.

    What did I just say and why did it come out so easy? Why did it feel so right? Ohh boy, I think this water is a little hotter then I thought.

    Yes. she said she loved me. I'm definitely going to get her. Now it's time to buy her a ring. I will plan to take her over to Panama City and maybe the beach and see what her taste in jewelry is and maybe find a ring for her. I may have to create one on online and order it for her. Next thing he knew he had autopilot drove to his mom's house. The lights are on so she's waiting for him. He walked into the kitchen and saw his mom and  and Carolyn sitting at the table talking. 

    " How are you ladies doing?" He asked sitting down with them.

    " We were just talking about the truth of life now. How you have been since you've been back here and if she have any kind of chance of getting you back."

    " Umm No. there was no chance before I left but now, there is no way in hell anyone else can look at me after Sharon just said she loved me."

    "Wow did she really say it... those words to you" Jean asked

    "Yeah she did, I'm sure she shocked herself saying it but she said it and meant it. I'm all hers, there is no room for anyone else." Markus said

    Carolyn's face was sour and she looked angry. "Why, why can't you love me?  Why can't you want me? Why can't I be the desire of your heart?" Carolyn whines.

    " I'm sorry, I just don't feel anything for you. Even if I thought I did, the way you acted today let me know you aren't mature enough for me. Sharon did nothing until you started with her. What has happened to you? Why are you like this?" Markus asked

    " Because I'm in love with you and I want you back and I want us back. I miss you and I miss us, hell I miss the me that was with you. I want to just be myself and I can only be that with you. Can't you take me too."

  "Why would i deprive you of finding someone who loves you the way you love them? I found mine and I hope you found yours. I wish you the best and all the love you can handle, but we both know I'm not going to love you. There is no way for us to be together, I'm sorry Carolyn." Markus said seriously.

      Observing this scene was doing wonders Jean's heart. She could finally truly see his emotions and feelings. She could finally see his determination to have Sharon on his face uncontrolled. She was positive that Markus and Sharon would be just fine. " I will bid you two good night as I am tired and I'm going to Pier Park tomorrow with the group. Night." With that she got up from the table and left them alone, confident that nothing would happen.

    " Now that she's gone,  tell me how you really feel. Don't hold back, I can take it." she smiled seductively at him.

    " I have told you how I really feel. Everything I have said was true. The ship for us sailed a long time ago and it's so far gone it can't even be tracked. I'm sorry but this is over, no going back. When I wanted you, you played the gold digger and turned me off. Now when I look at you all I see is someone who wants me to pay for everything and bail her out of her financial situation." He said plainly.

    "You know we were never about money. That's bullshit and you know it! You know and have always know that I love you, you're the man of my dreams. Tell me you don't know."

    "I know but it doesn't change the fact that my heart belongs to Sharon or that you played the gold digger part with me. I have nothing left to say besides your flight leaves at 12 and we need to leave by 10:30. If you like i can show you to your room or just tell you its' the second door on the right, the third door is the bathroom. Good night." He went to his room leaving her sitting at the kitchen table.

       It's a beautiful day now. Carolyn was on the plane back to Chicago and he was on his way to ask Sharon on a date. Maybe plan a weekend getaway. 

        Sharon was having an awesome time, she was happier, so her flowers were thriving and it seemed that all of a sudden everyone wanted flowers. She looked around the shop and saw people bustling all over the store. She had both of her part timers working just to keep up with demand. She couldn't forget the fabulous time she was having with Markus. The just because texts, him helping her pick the flowers, the dinner dates and lunches he would drop off to her daily. It was all that Sharon dreamed to have. Since the  Carolyn fiasco she fully opened her heart. When she had words with Carolyn that was a test of his feelings for her. It was confirmed what he said that he wanted her. They had been on the fast track ever y since. They had spent the night in Apalachicola's Best Western and had a good weekend  just people watching and enjoying the market. They had even ventured to Destin to the outlets and Grand Boulevard, she had to admit that there was better deals in Destin then at PCB and the quality was better. They did spend the weekend there and the beach was just as nice just more crowded like PCB. She'd take her quiet beach in PSJ any day.
