24. New Luna

 Francis POV:

After signing Stonecross Pack to Marble, Kilian finally walked down the stairs towards the car. He had a pissed off face and was storming towards me at an unsettling pace. The High Elder stood at the top of the stairs grinning at me. Naomi told me to wait by the car and she would get Kilian, the armour was covering her mark so the Elder wouldn’t see but I just had a plain T-shirt, I had to hide it more, walking into his office and shoving it in his face would cost Naomi her life.

“Get in the car now” Kilian barked. I didn’t think twice. I opened the door and shut it after getting in. Kilian clipped his seatbelt in and drifted off the drive. The tension in the car rose and I knew we would be either be followed or Kilian would crash at the next bend.

“Kilian you need to calm down” he didn’t answer me, it was time for me to use my Royal voice. “KILAIN, STOP THE CAR AND LET ME DRIVE!”. He stopped the car and got out. After driving for a while, I saw how tensed he still was. His wolf was growling and his fingers were starting to turn into claws. “Tell me what happened and I want to know everything!”.

“The Elders are messing the supernatural world. He went to meet someone outside and I found letters between him and other Elders. They are planning to attack the small packs in the area. That’s why there has been a rise in their population. A witches’ scent was all over them”, he said through his teeth.

“So it’s happening again?” I asked.

“How do you know about what happened?” he turned towards me whilst I was focused on the road ahead.

“I asked my sister about what happened between you two and well by the sounds of it all started with a witch that worked for the Elders?”

“Yeah, that sums it up really. If the Elders are working with a witch again I need to protect my pack. They need to be stronger and more resilient. By the sounds of it the Elders are attacking the mate soldier, that way their female mates are weaker and they don’t have to kill them.” He was staring to get angry again.

“You already have the strongest pack; they were trained by the Daughters and you have two allied Packs.  Dark Shade is full of old and wise wolves and Stonecross is full of egger young wolves. What else do you need?” I asked.

“I need a Luna” his response made Levi growl. He made it sound like Felicity belonged to him, like she was his possession and he needs her like a sword during a fight.

“Need or want? You do know she is her own person right?”

“My pack feels her absence, they are not as strong as they used to be. I know she won’t leave her Daughters but she has to think about Marble and Cassius, at the end of they day we are her family and yes we need her but I desperately want her. You should know that feeling” he started to look at me and smirked , he was obviously talking about my mark. “Come on it’s obvious, your whole Royal aura is glowing. It’s obvious you mated with Naomi, but I can tell you it was the stupidest thing you could have done”.

I grabbed the steering wheel tighter to stop myself from slitting his throat for calling me stupid, my vision started to become blurry and I knew I had to calm Levi down before he lashed out.

“And why is that?”

“You have found out your mate is a soldier for the Elders, the people that are trying to kill us. Which means she will have to fight on their side, if someone harms her, you will feel it. If she sheds a tear you will feel it. If someone kills her at the battlefield because she is wearing the black armour, you will feel your heart split into two. She will feel the same thing  for you. As soon as Levi comes out the Elders will want to kill you, you are going to be their target, and she will try to defend you. One of you will die and the other one will be left heart-broken. You have to figure which one is which”.

His confession left me dumb, I didn’t know what I was meant to do, I never wanted Naomi to die, I wanted her to live, but in order for her to live I would have to die. Maybe marking her wasn’t a good idea, it was the best idea I have ever had, but maybe not in the long run.

Levi started growling all of a sudden and I felt the same sensation, I always trusted my gut and right now it was twisting and turning in anticipation. Naomi was right, we need to prepare for war.

“Okay so to make the wolves stronger, the strongest pack needs their Luna, but she will not come. Kilian you have to marry Violet” I admitted.

He knew I was right, as much as my sister loved the thought of her children and her soul mate together, her pride was overwhelming. She was protecting his pack without realising. If she became the Luna of Marble Pack again they would go after the strongest pack straight away. In order to save Kilian and her child she had to stay away. I needed to keep him away. I don’t know why that thought entered my mind, I guess it must have been the Royal Twin thing, Felicity must have been thinking it.

“Kilian, you need to leave her alone. You need to go to Marble and marry Violet. That way the Daughters will have a Mother and Marble will have a Luna. I know it’s not what you want but I don’t think you are destined to be together. She will protect your daughter and you will protect her son. If Moon Goddess wanted you together she would have crossed your paths. The only path you are on is the aisle,  but my sister won’t be the one waiting for you”. I blurted out, since when did I become such a poet?

I carried on driving until I reached the boarder of the Daughter’s order. I woke Kilian up who was sleeping on the passenger seat and told him to carry on driving home, hopefully he wouldn’t crash, since he had so much money he might even consider taking the plane. I told him to go and marry Violent, there was no point in seeing Felicity again.

“Hey Francis” he called as I started to walk into the forest. “My wedding will be in three days if you want to attend” I nodded my head and started to walk off again.

Felicity POV

“What is that?” I said as I smelled a weird scent in my office, it was something new and odd. I looked up to see Francis standing in front of me grinning from ear to ear. I guess Estrid got used to seeing him so much that she didn’t even warn me he was here. “WHAT IS THAT?!” I shouted as four little blood red circles appeared on his neck.

“You got, you got OH MOTHER! You and Naomi?” I asked to which he only nodded. “YES!!! That’s amazing. Where is she? Is she downstairs?” I got up from my chair and bolted for the door.

“Felicity calm down, she’s not here” he sat down in his chair, defeated.

“What do you mean she’s not……” the realisation hit me like a tonne of bricks. He mated with Naomi and now he was all alone. “Did she reject you?” I asked softy, sitting opposite him.

“No, she gave me my power and told me she has to stay with the Elders” I saw the sorrow in his eyes, the utter destruction of his soul . “Felicity, there’s a war coming and we have to be prepared”.

I knew that he would find something out at the Elder’s Palace. Sending him there was beneficial, a war would explain the sudden rise in the rouges. As Francis began to explain what happened in New York I realised this situation was getting worse then I thought. The war between Dracula and wolves was nothing compared to what was about to happen. The Elders wanted to reclaim their power and destroying packs was their way of doing it.

“There’s something else”…. He stood up and started pacing around the room.

“You know that runs in our family… pacing. Before we break bad news we pace around so go on, what is it? Our father is alive? We were triplets? We can fly?” I was joking around but I could see that he was getting impatient.

“He’s getting married Felicity. Kilian has to marry in order to make his pack stronger”.

We have made sacrifices our whole relationship, I was expecting this. I knew  was it was a contract marriage but it still hurt. My heart has been torn too many times, only this time he was sacrificing his love for me for his Pack.

“That’s fine, honestly it is, I put my order before my love for him and he has done the same. She looked like a good woman so she might be a good Luna. Right now, you need to go to bed because you look like you haven’t slept in days”.

I told him goodnight and I went back to my desk. I didn’t know what to do with myself. Before Kilian turned my whole life upside down again, I was focused on Cassidy and the Daughters. I went to open a book I took with me when I left Marble, I turned the page and scanned Sarah’s face. The first Mother, the role model for all the Mother’s that followed, the fighter but never the lover. The woman who used to haunt my dreams eyes’ scanned through my body. The runes that she had tattooed all told a story. What did she want me to do now? Fight or Flight?

“Mother please help me” it was all I could say. She used to come and visit me and tell me “It’s your destiny”, but what was it?

I carried on reading the book and found some interesting facts about the shift of balance in the supernatural world and the wolf history.
