Gossip and A Discovery

Last night I slept marvelously. Of course, my night was filled with sexy, vivid dreams. I went to bed with a smile after his late-night visit, and I’m waking up happy, thinking of my date tonight. Looking at my alarm clock, I notice it is not even five a.m. yet. I began picking out my clothes for the day. Sifting through my closet, I settled on one of my favorite shirts that said Kitty Cat Meow across it. I grabbed a pair of skinny jeans and headed to my bathroom. After my shower, I debated on how to fix my hair. Deciding on some soft curls, I plugged in my hot rollers and began putting on my makeup. I don’t like to wear too much makeup, mostly mascara, a little eyeliner, and lip gloss. From time to time, I like to wear a little eyeshadow. After I finished, I set my hair on rollers and cleaned up my bathroom, and made my bed. Thirty minutes later, and I was all ready for school, but I still had over an hour before I had to leave for school. Walking into the kitchen, I could see my parents sitting at the table drinking their coffee. “Good morning, you’re up and ready early,” My mother smiled. “I thought I’d make some Pancakes,” I said as I skipped over to the cabinet and began taking out the flour and mixing bowl. I grabbed the eggs and milk out of the Fridge and began pouring the stuff into the mixing bowl. My mother got up and turned on the griddle as she watched me. “Mom, we are out of orange juice,” I said as I poured the last bit of simply orange into my cup. I stood waiting for the griddle to heat up. “I’ll pick up some later.” She said as she put away the eggs and milk. The griddle could only hold about three to four pancakes at a time, depending on how big they were. So I did the math in my head and figured I would make about ten pancakes. “You’re in a great mood today; you must have had a good time on your date last night,” My mother gushed. “Mom, it wasn’t a date. I was just showing Max around since he is new here.” I rolled my eyes, but she couldn’t see me since I was facing the griddle. I began piling the pancakes on the platter and added another batch to the griddle. “Izzy, you haven’t been up and dressed this early in a long time, and you curled your hair.” My mother stated as if this would prove her point. “Mother, it wasn’t a date, and Max is just a friend,” I turned around with the spatula in my hand. My Father was just looking over his paperwork, but I could tell he was listening to us. “Oh come one, you come down here skipping and making pancakes, you haven’t done that since you were ten,” She teased. “Was that alpha Derek’s car outside last night?” my Father asked, thankfully stopping my mother’s torture. “He came over to apologize,” I told my Father. “Apologize for what?” My mother asked, confused. Oh damn, you end one line of questioning, and she starts another. I gave my Father a look. He only shrugged his shoulders. “It’s a long story, really, mom,” I said as I placed more pancakes on the platter. “It seems like you have plenty of time to tell me. I thought you two were doing training together. Did he train roughly with you?” My mother began spouting out questions. I took out my phone and sent a text to Melly asking her to meet me at school alone. I just really needed to talk to her about Derek. It relieved me when she messaged back saying give her five minutes. I was thankful to get out of the house because my mother would not give up. She loved this kind of thing. I didn’t go on many dates anymore since dad thought it pointless and scared off my dates, so she gets so happy, even if it wasn’t a date. “I’m meeting Melly in a few minutes, so I got to go,” I said as I turned off the griddle. I placed the last of the pancakes on the platter and set it on the table. “You didn’t eat any Pancakes,” My mother hollered as I was running up the steps. I grabbed my stuff for school and ran back down. “I made them for you and dad, sorry Mom, I got to go,” I kissed her on the cheek. “I see you are meeting Melly so that you can tell her all about last night; well, I hope you tell me later,” She said, making me again roll my eyes and walk out the door. I sat up against the Oak Tree, waiting on Melly. She didn’t take long. She sat down next to me, giving me an exasperated look. “Did you kiss Max?” She asked me. “He kissed me, but wait, how did you know that?” I asked her. “Well, let’s see, after your date last night, he told some of the guys about it. He really likes you, but of course, you know who walked in the door, from wherever he was and heard,” Melly said. “He was with me, and it wasn’t a date. Why does everyone keep thinking it was?” I said, thinking of my conversation with my mother earlier. “Alpha Derek was not happy, and of course, he told him you were going to be very busy from now on. Wait, did you just say he was with you?” She asked, “You need to be careful. He gets mad when Max talks about you,” Melly added, raising her eyebrows. “Well, he is cocky and arrogant, but right, well, at least for tonight, I’m busy,” I said. “Not if he has anything to do with it. I’m sure he will find things to keep you busy, just be prepared,” She laughed. “No, he just asked me on a date,” I whisper yelled. “He what?! You have been holding back on me. Did you just say what I think you did?” She squealed. “Last night, when I got back, he was outside my house waiting. He came to apologize and asked me on a date,” I smiled. “You have a date tonight?” Brad suddenly appeared asking. “Melly, you brought him with you?” I accused. “No, I followed her,” Brad said as he crossed his arms over his chest. “What a freaking stalker!” I exclaimed, mad he overheard us. “I’m not a stalker and know she has been hiding something from me, so I followed her. If you had a mate, you would understand, and you wouldn’t be f*****g things up for people either,” He said, adding the last part under his breath, but I heard him. “I wouldn't stalk my mate. You could have asked her if she was hiding something instead of following her to meet her best friend, and listen to our private conversation,” I scoffed. “Melly, how did you not know he was there? You should have sensed and smelled him,” I said, turning towards her. “How am I supposed to know he was there, it’s not like you can sense your mate, and you can only smell them when they are close enough. By the time I smelled him, he had made himself present,” Melly said. “I wasn’t standing close enough for her to smell me. The long-distance smell thing only generally works when you first find your mate. It helps make it easier, but you still need to be close enough. As far as her sensing me, only Alphas and their mates can do that,” He added, eyeing me quizzically. “I’m sorry Melly, I didn’t know,” I said. “It’s ok,” She smiled. “Did I hear you say earlier you had a date with my Alpha?” Brad asked me. “Yes, and that is why I asked Melly here, I wanted advice from my best friend,” I told him. “You’re not going on a date with him. Maybe you should just go visit your brother for a while,” He said seriously. “You can’t tell me who to go on a date with,” I huffed. “You were on a date with Max last night, apparently kissing on him, and now you think you’re going out with My Alpha? I don’t think so!  Whatever his damn infatuation with you is, it ends now. You will pack your stuff and go visit your brother until I can make him leave at the end of this week,” He demanded bitterly. Who the f**k did he think he was talking to me like that? I could feel my body tremble with rage. My wolf was begging to let her free, she wanted to rip him to shreds, and that was saying something considering we are at odds lately. Melly jumped back with a look of fear in her eyes. But Brad stood there smugly, the nerve of him to insinuate I was a slut. He may not have said it, but he was implying it. “You listen good,” I said, putting my finger to his chest for emphasis, “You don’t ever try to tell me what to do. You are lucky I have control over my wolf right now, or it would rip you to shreds. I am staying here and going on a date tonight with Derek, and you better never insinuate I am a slut again! Your High Beta Command doesn’t work on me. Do you hear me?” I screamed. I knew I could feel the command in my voice, but I had no control over that, not when I'm this mad. He stepped back and blinked a fear in his eyes, then realization. I know he knows now, I just used my Alpha tone with him—the only one with a higher command than he was Derek or his mate. I sat back down on the ground, trying to reel in my rage. I felt terrible, but he wanted to command me to leave town. That would not happen. “How? Why?” He asked, rubbing his fingers through his hair. “I just wanted someone to love me for me, not because of a mating bond. And how is not important, just know I masked my scent,” I said. “Why did you go on a date with Max?” He asked. “I didn’t. Max asked me to show him around town, so I did. He kissed me, but I told him nothing could happen between us, and he was not my mate. I see him as a friend, though,” I sighed. “Do you know how much he suffers? He struggles with the new feelings he has for you, which grows every day. The entire time it is you.” Brad said. “I plan to tell him, I just need a little time,” I pleaded. “I won’t say anything yet, but don’t take too long. If he asks me, I have to answer truthfully since you did not command me not to,” Brad said. “I won’t command you to lie. But Thank you for not saying anything.” I said. “I really didn’t mean what I said. I know you’re not a slut. It’s just I didn’t want him getting hurt. He most likely would have rejected his mate in the end for you. As Alpha, he has that power, and I worried you would meet your mate, hurting him more. I really am proud to have you as my Alpha Female,” He said bowing. “I am sorry too. I actually like you. You’re good for Melly,” I said. “Well, at least now I know what you were hiding,” He said to Melly. “Sorry, baby, she is my best friend,” She said, planting a kiss on his cheek. But I wasn’t paying attention; I could smell Derek and his sexy cologne and knew he was very close. “Who’s hiding what?” Derek said as he came up behind me, making me jump at his closeness. No one answered him, so he just sat down and pulled me next to him, making me lose my breath, “What nothing to say, Brad?” Derek said. “It’s your choice, Alpha,” Brad said. “Good, tonight I have a date, and I don’t want to hear no s**t,” Derek said I gathered Brad had been giving him s**t about me. I was glad the topic of who was hiding what was over. “Now, who is hiding what?” Derek said. “I told Melly about our date. Brad’s mad Melly left him home alone this morning to meet me early and thought she was hiding something.” I said, hoping he let it go at that. It was actually the truth. “Was Melly happy for you?” He asked me. “I think so,” I said. “Yea, that was probably why Brad’s upset,” Derek laughed. “Didn’t you get my text? I sat outside your house for fifteen minutes.” Brian said, walking towards us. I pulled away from Derek, which made him growl. I put my hand on his lower back instead. “What do you mean, Brian? I have got no messages from you,” I Said, taking out my phone and looking. There was a text from him saying he would pick me up; he needed to ask me something. “Actually, I just saw it, I must have forgotten to turn my ringer on last night,” I said. “Yea, your mom told me about your hot date,” He said as he took a seat on the ground. “I didn’t have a date. She is delusional.” I laughed. “If you were kissing, it’s a date,” Tyler added as he and the others joined us, including Max. This was going to get awkward. “She said it was not a date understood,” Derek bitterly said. Tyler nodded his head and lowered it with respect. “Hey, aren’t you that trainer or something? What are you doing out here with us?” Brian said. Oh s**t, I need to be careful he is human. Derek was tensing beside me. “He has no friends his own age,” Max said. “Actually, he is only a few years older than us, but I am going to be helping with the training class, so he stopped over and was talking to me about it,” I said.  The whole time I spoke, Derek’s eyes never left Max’s. I kept my hand on his back to keep him calm. I want nothing happening in front of humans. Derek stood up and walked past Max, giving him a dirty look. “I will see you in class later, Isabella,” He said as he threw me a wink. My heartfelt like it was doing seesaws. Once I recovered, I turned to see many eyes on me. I got up and said, “Brian, what was it you needed to talk to me about? I am heading to my locker, come on,” I did not feel like answering their questions, but I knew the training class would be full of drama if the looks Max and Derek were giving each other were any indicator. I had to talk to Max again and make him understand we are just friends. I just hoped he understood and could find his mate soon. I still wasn’t sure what I was doing about Derek, but tonight would be a step in that direction. One that I could not wait for.
