Emma sat in Dr. Chen's examination room. She was nine years old now. Two years had passed since the first Division attack.
Two years of living underground. Two years of training. Two years of watching her parents become warriors.
Chen ran tests. Checking her blood. Her reflexes. Her healing rate.
"Your enhancement is accelerating," Chen said. "Faster than we expected."
"What does that mean?" Emma asked.
"It means you are becoming more like your parents. Stronger. Faster. Your body is adapting."
Emma did not know how to feel about that. Part of her wanted to be normal. To go to regular school. Have regular friends. Live a regular life.
But another part wanted to be strong. To help. To protect people like her parents did.
