Sasha and Jayhan stumbled on through the dark with their two companions. Sasha wondered whether meeting up with Draya and Rhoda had been all that helpful. It made them feel safer, she supposed, but it slowed them down. She was sure that just she and Jayhan would have made better progress. For a start, they now had to wait for twice as many people to recover from tripping over tree roots and rocks in the dark. And without Draya and Rhoda, Sasha could have been holding Jayhan’s hand and been in direct contact with the person with the best sight, instead of groping along in his wake. Admittedly, Jayhan and she had fallen over a few times too, but… And another thing, Rhoda was wearing a voluminous skirt which kept billowing out in front of Sasha and nearly tripping her up.
