BRYNN JONES POV –
Climbing up the stairs to get to the floor I was really staying on, my mind kept unwillingly drifting back to his beautiful face, the way his eyes looked like pools of honey as he trailed his vision along my body in that short lift ride. His golden skin tone matched his brown buzzcut hair style and stubble in the most delicious way. His strong, sharp jawline would look positively sinful between my legs. Never had a company agent been so, mouth-watering and if the way his gaze lingered on my lips is any indication then he wanted me too. Now this was something I could use to my advantage.
Walking into my suite I saw Vincent, Luka and Roland sat in the living room area. Times like this made me miss my two girls. I started to wonder if Camille would have the modifications done on the Range Rover by the time I got back, while I fixed myself a glass of white wine. Of course, she would, she’s the world’s best auto mechanic there was almost nothing she couldn’t build, fix or modify. I couldn’t wait to get back and see what she had done!
Crossing the room, I sat on the couch beside Vincent. He draped his right arm over my shoulders and pulled me into his side with a sigh.
“Where did you sneak off to boss?” He asked innocently in his sweet Texan accent.
“To the little shop outside, I was looking for a semi decent bottle of red but alas my men I came back empty handed.” That seemed to be all it took for Luka and Roland to stop paying attention to us and move on, but Vincent couldn’t be lied to, his eyes met mine briefly before joining in on the conversation the boys were now having.
After sifting through all the local take outs, we decided it was better to just ring room service, at least this way we could get multiple options. Food arrived rather quickly and soon the four of us were stuffing our faces with food and trading everything we found out that day on our separate trips. After a few glasses of wine each I was ready to call it a day and so were the men. Luka and Roland left after a quick goodbye, beer in hand still halfway through a heated debate. Of course, Vince would stay though.
“I won't ask why you lied to us little one, but I am curious as to where it was exactly you disappeared to.” He said from his seat on the couch. Watching me carefully as I topped up my empty glass to the halfway mark.
“I spoke to him.” I said in a rushed way, I know the best thing to do with Vince is to just spit it out and then wait while he thinks things though. The silence as he registered what I said was always unpleasant.
“Brynn why would you do something so silly, you know better than to engage with company agents? When you asked Luka to dig up everything on the two you suspected I knew it wouldn’t end well.” He huffed and shuffled closer to me on the couch, the tone of his voice wasn’t accusatory or angry more like confused.
“Vince you’ve been by my side practically since I started this adventure. That’s 4 long years, in all the time have any of the agents ever followed us for longer than ten minutes?” I say in a hushed voice despite us being the only two in the room. He was silent for a few seconds, presumably thinking before he frowned and looked back at me.
“No.”
“That’s why! I just need to know.” I utter. Taking a long sip of my wine I couldn’t help the sigh that escaped my lips.
“Didn’t get your answer I assume?” Vincent asks, although I have a feeling it was a rhetorical question, I couldn’t help but answer.
“No, I definitely did not.” Downing the small bit of clear liquid in the bottom of my glass I slowly stood up. I walked over to the room service cart and placed my empty glass on it before giving my limbs a much-needed stretch. Vincent rose to his feet and crossed the space between us in 3 steps with his long stride.
“It will be okay little one.” Vincent cooed whilst gathering me up in hug. He rubbed my back gently before pulling away and placing a small kiss on my forehead. Reaching the door, he glanced back and offered a small half smile before leaving. Vincent had been my rock for the past four years, he always somehow always knew we would be okay, no matter what kind of trouble we found ourselves in and since our little family has grown in member’s he had been even more certain. I wish I had his uncanny ability to hide my worry for others, it sure would come in handy.
After a quick shower I was finally climbing into the big canopy bed for some well needed sleep, but at first it wasn’t a blissful sleep that came, it was nightmares and drowning darkness that had me sweating and sobbing in my sleep.
It was 6am by the time I woke up from my earth-shattering reoccurring nightmare. Although it wasn’t really a nightmare in the typical sense. It was just a memory that I couldn’t let go of, one that made its way into my dreams almost every single night. Stealing away the only slither of solace I had left. I decided to get up and go and soak in a hot bath rather than risk the chance that I would end up in my darkest moment once again.
I sat in the rather large bathtub letting the burning water ease the tension in my sore spots and loosen up the muscles on every inch of my body. I didn’t even realise how much time had passed, I was too wrapped up in myself so by the time I got out the bath 2 hours later the water was freezing cold and my fingers and toes resembled raisins. Not caring to get too dolled up I just threw on a quick winged liner, some red lipstick, my summer dress with the matching belt and my open toe, ankle strap heels.
After quick phone call with the boys I now knew that the jet was fully ready, and we had been cleared for a 1200 take off time. Which gave me exactly 3 hours and 15 minutes to find that devastatingly handsome company agent and try to get any kind of information out of him that I could without being too obvious. Judging from the time him and his little buddy should be awake, settled. Deciding to grab a coffee before I begin my little hunt, I slung my small white purse strap onto my shoulder before heading down to the café across the road.
