Chapter Seven:

BRYNN JONES POV –  “Well hello boys, fancy bumping into you here.” I teased with a soft chuckle. I extended my hand towards the man on the right side of the booth, he was a good-looking man but nowhere near as delicious as his partner. He was an athletic type of muscular, slim with a triangular face and wide monolid eyes. He was clean shaven with short jet-black hair slicked back. “Hi, I don’t believe we have formally met. I’m Brynn.” I say in my sweetest voice while plastering on my most trustworthy smile. I already knew who he was and what he was like thanks to the amazing skills that Luka possessed with tech, but I wasn’t about to give them any indication that I had as many resources and friends as I did. It would give away my advantage. Every single time I go up against one of these little want to be historians and action men and women they underestimate me, although I have outwitted them too many times to count. He took my hand in his own and raised it to his lips pressing a chaste kiss onto the back. “A pleasure Brynn, I’m Jun.” He replied trailing his eyes up and down my figure. I took my hand from his placing it with my other in front of my stomach. Turning my attention towards Mateo I could feel the unkept anger simmering off him. I cleared my throat as a way of redirecting his attention to me. When he finally looked at me, I saw the tension he was holding in his wickedly sharp jawline, just dissipate. However, his eyes held me in place, they were now like pools of thick hot chocolate radiating warmth as appose to the usual honey gold colour they had. It wasn’t until I heard the little jingle of the bell above the entrance door, that I was able to force my thoughts to return to me. “Mr Williams, I was wondering if I could borrow you for a moment.” I directed at Mateo, before turning my attention back to his companion. “I promise to return him unharmed in a few minutes.” I chuckle while beginning to walk towards the front door of the small café. I didn’t turn to see if the devastatingly piquant agent were following, I could sense his eyes watching me as I led the way, hell I could practically feel him trailing me outside. Once I was outside the café I waited until the agent stood beside me before turning left and walking towards the little park at the end of the road. Sitting down on a bench near the entrance I couldn’t help but notice how barren and dry the supposed park was. Rusty and beat down from time and heat, a shame really. As I was looking into the sad little dirt play area, I saw my handsome agent sit down next to me out the corner of my eye. He didn’t speak, he just looked around like I was. Probably waiting for me to make the first move so he can try and figure out what I want. “Should I be expecting you to follow me again today?” I question, not daring to look at him but I did notice the way he lightly rubbed the back of his neck and bounced his left leg restlessly. “You know I can’t tell you what I’m up to today.” He mumbled. “Oh, I know, so are you a new agent?” I ask coyly. Still looking out at our surroundings. “Not exactly. I’ve been with the company for 2 years.” He answered unexpectedly. I had thought for sure he would try to redirect or just tell me that he couldn’t discuss it. I watched as he reached up and lightly rubbed the back of his neck with his left hand. “Okay.” I counter. He turned to look at me with his gorgeous eyes, they had once again returned to their honey gold shade and I wanted nothing more than to melt into the sweetness his gaze could provide. “Okay? That’s it, no more questions?” He asked whist letting out a low whistle. “Not what I thought you would say.” He smirked. “What did you want me to say?” I tease. He then looked away from me and I felt myself immediately missing the feel of his eyes on my body. I kept my focus on him while he thought, bouncing his left leg restlessly. “I just thought that after I answered the first one that I’d be bombarded with more questions.” He laughed as he watched the people walking past us on the dirt carved pavement. “I decided not to push my luck.” I sigh with a slight smirk playing on my lips. This got another laugh from Mateo, He rose to his feet and offered me his hand. “Come for a quick walk with me?” He asked in a calm tone, but his alluring eyes showed me everything that his voice didn’t. They were what I imagined mine to look like when I study him for too long, starved and lustful. I mentally scolded myself. I couldn’t be losing my train of thought, I needed to keep my wits with me around this man. Especially if I wanted him to let anything slip from his divine bow shaped lips. I placed my hand in his and let him lace my arm through his. We began our small stroll with no clear path or destination. We both just casually walked along, taking in everything that was going on around us. People walking to and from there jobs or errands, kids playing and laughing in front of the run down, makeshift shops. Cars chugging along the road at a snail’s pace. “So, you’re really not going to ask me anything else?” He spoke aloud, eyes glued forwards. “Would you be honest with me if I gave voice to any of my curiosities?” I counter looking at him sideways with a slight smirk. He didn’t answer but the shaking of his head paired with a slow sigh was answer enough. He probably wouldn't. We continued our walk, weaving on and off small dirt pathways that littered this side of city, about two hours had passed while we just strolled along, side by side. When we ended up back at the rusty little park, we both knew it was time to say goodbye. The small amount of time we had stolen to just exist together in peace and silent understanding had to come to an end. I couldn’t tell you why, but this thought made my chest tighten and ache.  He leaned towards me and wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling my body flush up against his. After an initial moment of shock, I slipped my arms up and around his neck, head resting on his chest. We stayed like that for a few moments when he lightly pressed his face into my hair. After I felt him take a deep breath in, I removed my arms from his strong shoulders and stood backwards, putting a good foot between us. He looked at me with a little bit of confusion and hurt before quickly hiding his feelings beneath that mask he wore so confidently. “I’m sorry, I have to go. I’ve got a meeting.” I stammered out as quickly as possible before turning my back on him and walking so fast I might as well have been running. I turned to look back at him before I was completely out of sight, standing there in front of the little beat up park he was sat on the bench our conversation had began on. Looking down at the ground, god I would have given anything to know what he was thinking. Once I was in the hotel, I made a beeline for the lift and only when I was inside, and it was moving did I finally allow myself to breath and think about what the f**k just happened.  It was about to be one long plane trip back to the UK and I couldn’t keep my mind from wondering back to the events that had taken place. Even though it was only a harmless hug I couldn’t help but think that in reality it was anything but.  My plan was to use Mr Mateo Williams to gain information or at least just distract him enough for me to get the last Asia Scroll first, but this felt like he was playing me. Was he setting me up? Or does he feel this odd and overwhelming need to be close to one another too? Every thought that was swirling around in my mind only raised more questions and after antagonising over the possible answers for over 3 hours I finally gave in and slept for the remainder of the flight.
