ARC 1.4 : Onnell Maxwell

The next morning Elis walked out from her room and went straight to the dining room. She was a bit baffled when she saw her supposed to be father is dining with an uncomfortable Roland. Elis raised her brow while looking at Housekeeper Lu, Housekeeper Lu could only shrug his shoulders. Elis sighed a little and seated herself beside Roland.

The new hired maid immediately served her the breakfast and waited for any instructions from their master. The dining room was quiet from any conversation. The only sound they could hear was the cling and clang of the spoon and plate.

"I heard that you've changed your school?" Osmond Knights suddenly asked after the long silence in the dining room. Elis looked at this supposed father and nodded. She was not willing to talk to this man as he was the one who caused their mother's death.

"Why? I did not approve of this transfer!" He talked as he looked at his daughter who was now grown to be a beautiful young lady. His heart was twisted in pain when he first saw his daughter, as she looked just like her mother.

"It's near Roland's school." Elis used the same excuse with her uncle. Osmond furrowed his brow and scowled, a sign that he was in disagreement with his daughter's decision, but yet again he couldn't argue with her, as he knew these two siblings were very close after their mother's death.

"Do whatever you want." Osmond stood up and left. Elis looked at the disappearing silhouette of this supposed father, and she could feel some bitter taste and disappointment in her heart when seeing his attitude towards his own children.

Elis was dumbfounded when she heard this mission inside her head. A trigger mission? Seriously? She doesn't have much time and now another mini-mission comes. Elis sighed slowly and continued eating her breakfast as if the things that happened a moment ago didn't even happen to her.

"Housekeeper Lu I'll drive today." Elis announced as she took Roland's school bag and walked hand by hand. Housekeeper Lu could only nod when seeing this. Soon, a car sound was heard and after a few minutes the sound was gone, indicating that the car had already left. Suddenly, a crash could be heard from the second floor and all the new hired maid looked up.

"Continue. Don't be bothered by that sound." Housekeeper Lu sighed as he walked towards the master bedroom on the second floor. He opened the door slowly and sighed again when he saw Osmond on the floor with the broken frame.

"Master, please don't act so recklessly." Housekeeper Lu said as he took the picture below the broken and shattered glass frame. The picture was a clear image of the madam and master on their wedding day. The two of them look so happy, but still, master ruined it with his own hand.

"She must be laughing at me right now!" Osmond said with a lot of emotion in his tone. Housekeeper Lu didn't say anything. He put aside the wedding picture and helped Osmond to get up as he started to clean the floor.

"Answer me Uncle Lu, she must be laughing at me, right?" Osmond looked at Housekeeper Lu and Housekeeper Lu could only sigh.

"Master... I don't have the answer to your question." Housekeeper Lu answered him as he retreated from the master bedroom slowly. Osmond crawled into the bed and covered himself with the quilt. He reached the empty side beside him and a smile crept into his lips.

"I'm a fool," he said slowly, with a lot of sadness in his eyes.

"Fluffy, where is he now?" Elis immediately asked after she had finished with her class. In her hand there were a lot of books which some stupid lecturer asked her to send to the administrative office. Thankfully, she was on her task. If not, she'll already reject this stupid task.

"Host, he is near the administrative office. Hurry!" Fluffy urged her to move and Elis gleeed when she heard this, without further ado, she immediately walked towards the administrative office, and she saw a young man who almost made her stop. That face...

"Host!" Fluffy was also bewildered when she saw the second male lead face, as for Elis, she couldn't move at all, her foot seemed to be glued towards the ground and her eyes were filled with tears.

"Nathan..." Elis muttered his name slowly as she savored the guilt and longing in her heart. But this 'Nathan' didn't even look at her when he passed her. Elis almost cried when she saw him treat her like this, but then she remembered that she was in a different world. That was the second male lead. Onnell Maxwell and in this world he didn't even know about her at all.

"Host... You missed your chance." Fluffy reprimanded her and that snapped Elis from her thoughts, she entered the administrative office dispiritedly and placed the book on the table. She walked out as she could feel her heart was sliced piece by piece. Did he too feel like this when she ignored him before?

So that day, Elis walked out from the South University feeling a bit depressed. Because she's the one who took Roland to school, and so she decided to pick him up too. Directing the steering wheel towards Roland's school she spotted a familiar face that made her mood down that afternoon. Yet she didn't move as she looked at his face, trying to fill her longing with his face that looked just like Nathan.

Closing her eyes, Elis looked at the school gate, and she noticed several kids had already walked out of the school and behind a few of the students she noticed her little brother as well as a little girl beside him. The two of them were laughing, and their little faces looked so cute.

"Brother!" The little girl beside Roland immediately ran to Onnell and hugged him. Roland moved towards him and smiled at him like he already knew him before. Elis was a bit dumbfounded about this little coincidence, but it still made her happy that this is what she wanted.

"Fluffy, why didn't you tell me about this? I told you to monitor him!" Elis rebuked Fluffy with a bit of dissatisfaction in her tone.

"Host, I tried to tell you, but you didn't hear me." Fluffy replied and Elis couldn't help but roll her eyes. She sighed a little and walked towards Roland, who was now chatting with Onnell and his little sister.

"Big sister!" Roland, who noticed his sister, immediately grinned and ran to her. For Roland, this was a surprise for him as she had never picked her up before.

"Are you here for me?" Roland asked with a glee in his face. Elis smiled at him as she shook her head.

"No, I'm here for something else." Elis teased, and Roland's face immediately changed from glee to sadness. Elis laughed a little. Her laughter was very light but felt so nice to other people's hearing, so that is what exactly Onnell Maxwell saw when he faced the big sister that Roland called just now. She stands there like a beauty who stands on top of the world, she looks aloof but warm at the same time, and her smiling face looks so enchanting that it makes his 'dead' heart beat more than before.

"I'm only teasing you," Elis said as she ruffled Roland's hair and Roland pouted at his sister. Suddenly the little girl spoke as she looked at the lovely big sister.

"Hello, my name is Emma Maxwell. You must be Elis, Roland's big sister," Emma said as she raised her hand. Elis was amused as she shook the little girl's hand.

"Yes, I'm Elis, Roland's big sister. Nice to make you an acquaintance." Elis smiled at her and Emma's face turned red.

"You are so beautiful!" Emma commented and Elis couldn't help but blush when she heard this. One must know that little children are straightforward characters, so what Emma said just now truly came from her heart.

"Thank you, you look beautiful too." Elis smiled as she took Roland's hand. She pretended to ignore Onnell's presence as she conversed with Emma and Roland.

Just when the two of them want to leave. Onnell suddenly spoke, thus making Elis and Roland's steps halt. Both of them looked at Onnell waiting for his next sentence as he seemed flustered and Emma made a little giggle.

"I'm Onnell." Two words, and they could see how red his ears were. Elis couldn't help but smile when seeing how flustered Onnell was.

"I'm Elis." Elis introduced herself once again. Onnell smiled at her, showing his white teeth as well his smiling features and handsome face. Onnell is a cold young man and only reacts to some people, but for him to smile at someone who he has just met is something that has never happened before. Even so, when these two people shook their hands, both of them could feel an electrifying spark between the two of them.

The two people stood in front of each other while the two of them looked into each other's eyes. The two of them never shook their hands away. Instead, it was attached like it belonged where it was supposed to be. Not until the two little kids were laughing that the two of them realized that their hands still held each other's hand. Reluctantly, both of them let go.

Clearing his throat, Onnell smiled as he looked into Elis's blue eyes.

"Would you and Roland like to join us for an afternoon coffee?" Onnell asked. Elis raised her brows, and soon she smiled as she nodded. The second male lead had already offered her the best option to get near him. Of course, she wouldn't let it go.

"We'll meet up in the Uptown Café," Onnell said slowly, and Elis nodded once again. When Elis and Roland got inside the car, Elis looked at her right hand, which she used to shake hands with him. She felt a bit complex as she had never felt that spark, even with her ex-fiancé before, but a moment ago...

"You like him~" Roland teased his sister. Elis looked at Roland and gasped at what Roland had said. She ruffled his hair.

"No..." she answered.

"No..."

Is it really a no?
