ARC 1.6 : Onnell Maxwell

1986 Words
Two days had passed since the dinner with Osmond's family. Elis's day was very calm, and it went just like before the dinner, Roland being spoiled a lot by Elis and Onnell being clingy like never before, and now he even insisted to be pick up by Elis and Roland from home and sending them back home safely. He even started holding her hands and refused to let her go. Should Elis be happy or not, she could only accept it, besides her mission is much more important than someone's feelings. "Fluffy..." Elis called her system slowly. Fluffy immediately shows herself and Elis ruffles her fur, feeling somehow complicated. "Yes host?" Fluffy asked. "Did he..." Elis couldn't continue but Fluffy knew what she wanted to ask, so without further ado, she showed the last image of Nathan. The hologram shows an old man around 70-80 sitting in a wheelchair. His white hair was very obvious, but his eyes were still sharp, even so his body was already not that strong anymore. A young girl around the age of twenties walked towards the old man. "Uncle... it's time to go back home." The young girl smiled at him. The old man only nods and slowly the young girl pushes the wheelchair out of the garden. The girl chatted with the old man, but the old man never said anything, but in his hand a picture of a young girl with her smiling face could be seen. "Uncle, do you miss her?" the young girl asked, and the old man coughed before he smiled, he raised the picture for the young girl to see and caress it lovingly. "Deeply," he answered. In his voice a lot of emotion could be heard. "Do you want to visit her?" the young girl asked again. "Yes, tomorrow it's her birthday." He answered. He smiled as he looked into the picture again. The hologram was fast-forward, and it stopped where the old man looked at the headstone, like in the last year he placed the white lilies in front of the headstone. "Happy Birthday My Love." He said. There was a long pause but finally he continued. "This is probably the last time that I'll be visiting you. My time is already near, and hopefully I can see you after I've died, but with this sin and blood on my hand, I may not be seeing you. I'm sorry for that." The old man smiled, hiding the pain that he felt in his heart. "I'm sorry for not protecting you that day. I'm sorry." "I love you. I really do." A lone tear fell from his old eyes, he caressed the headstone as if it was his lover, but suddenly his illness attacked him, and he fell from his wheelchair. The young girl who was with him rushed to her as she tried to call the ambulance and, at the same time, tries to find his medicine, but the old man shove the phone away from her. "No!" he said. The young girl started to cry, and before she could find his medicine, the old man stopped moving, he smiled as he held the headstone, and slowly he closed his eyes. That was the last time he held his breath as the young girl cried for him. She picked up her phone and started dialing. "Mother... Uncle passed away." The hologram stopped and disappeared. Elis was lost in her own thoughts, but she couldn't deny the hurt inside her heart, her tears were unstoppable. "Fool!" she muttered, but it was more of regret than pitying him. "Fool!" she repeats. She started to blame herself for not realizing his feelings towards her, she started to blame herself for being so dense around him. She wiped her tears, her eyes glinted with determination. 10 missions, and that means she need to complete 10 worlds, 10 lifetimes. 10 lifetimes before she could meet him again. "Wait for me!" ↠∻↞ Main Mission > Save the Second Male lead from the crazy fans Reward : 15,000 Points Mini Mission (Requested by Original Body) > Don't fall in love with Rayner (500 Points) - Completed > Annul the engagement between Rayner and Elis (500 Points) > Fall in love and have kids (3,000 Points) Triggered Mission Amend the father and child's relationship Reward: 2,000 Points Elis reviewed the missions as she ate her breakfast together with Roland. Today was a public holiday and both of their schools gave them a week of school break, so Elis decided to complete her mission at least two of it. To be honest, the first mini-mission was completed the day she asked to annul her engagement. Maybe she was a different soul, so the male lead didn't affect her decisions, thus making the mission considered complete. Even so, she was happy to find out that 1/5 mission has completed. "Sister, are we really going to meet brother Onnell today?" Roland asked. Elis looked at her little brother and nodded. She ruffled his hair as she poked his cheek. "Yes." Roland smiled widely and continued with his breakfast. Suddenly, a heavy footstep came forward and both of the siblings looked up. They saw their father looked kind of pissed as he bore his gaze on his daughter. "Meet me in the study room after you've done!" he said heavily as he walked out of the dining room. Roland clenched his hand into a fist, but Elis tapped her brother's hand. She smiled at him. "Don't worry." She said, and the two siblings continued eating. After they'd done, Elis immediately walked towards the study room. She knocked two times before she heard her father gave her permission to enter. Slowly but confidently she opened the door and walked in. Osmond looked at his daughter, who looked just like his late-wife. The only difference was her eyes, which followed his eye's color. Towards this daughter, he did not know what to say, but he needed to talk to her, at least this matter still needed consultation from her. "Sit!" he said. Elis took the offer as she sat on the chair, she threw her gaze into his desk, and she found a frame which held her mother's picture. She was smiling sweetly, and her eyes were filled with love. "The Osmond's family said that they wish to annul the engagement," Osmond said slowly. To be honest, he was angry towards with the Osmond's family for canceling the engagement. Elis averted her eyes towards her father. "...and?" Osmond looked at his child and sighed. "Do you agree?" "Yes. It is I who asked brother Rayner to annul the engagement." Elis confessed and Osmond was dumbfounded. He looked at his child's eyes, trying to seek answers from her, but what he saw was nothing but confidence. He started to wonder, does this child really agree with this? "Why?" he asked. Elis didn't answer immediately. Instead, she took the frame picture which surprised Osmond for a while. Elis caresses the picture lovingly, but when she looks back towards Osmond, she shows her hatred, her resentment, and she even shows him her killing intent towards him. Osmond was shock silly, but then regret soon filled his heart. "Why? You asked me why? Why don't you ask yourself? You, a husband who cheated on his own wife and asked me why I want to cancel my engagement? Do you want me to repeat what my mother has been through? Do you want to see your own daughter kill herself because her own husband didn't love her? Don't be foolish, father. Perhaps both of your children will never believe that marriage is a good thing!" "I've seen you bring your lover back there, and I saw how mother cried every night and day, I've seen how she tries to cover everything you do, and finally, you served her the final dessert where she took her own life that night, she rather died to be as your wife than your ex-wife..." Elis took a deep breath, but her tears fall without she even realized it. "She loves you more than anything. Still, I want to say thank you that you still managed to love her for five years before you cheated on her. At least you gave her love and support back there and that's probably the reason why I stay in this house." Elis said slowly, but then she stared at Osmond. "You should just burn this picture, throw away all her things and don't ever lay your eyes on her picture, you don't deserve her love, you don't deserve it at all!" Elis shouted out her feelings, as she stood up, but before she walked out from the study room, she looked at her father face, he looks pale, but it didn't bother Elis at all. "I won't marry a person who I don't love, but I also won't marry a person who doesn't love me back. I would rather die alone than marry someone who doesn't even love me." Elis walked out bringing along the picture from the study room, but before she could walk far away from the study room, her hand was suddenly grabbed, and he saw her father looking at her. "I cheated on her, and I'm sorry for that, but do you think I didn't suffer after her death? Did you know that I felt empty after I didn't see her smiling face anymore, the comfort she gave every time I was back home, the support she gave me, the love she gave me, the children she gave me. Do you think that I felt happy after her death?" Osmond said it as he slowly releases his grip on Elis's hand. Elis eyes turned red, she felt furious towards this moron. If only she could give this stupid man a slap, she would have already done it, but considering that this man is her father in this world, she had to hold her anger. "Sorry? SORRY?! You took my mother away from Roland and me and all you can think is how sorry, and how suffered you are after her death? Don't make me laugh, father! These things you've said is only an excuse, a way for you to ease the guilt in your heart!" "I love her, I really did, and I only know it after I lose her!" Osmond leaned on the wall as he closed his eyes. "I was stupid back there, I fell into my ex-lover's trap, all she could ever think was how to take my money and manipulate me to make me obey all her requests and, at the same time, she fulfilled my deepest desire, which is things that your mother can never do. I neglected your mother, scolded her and I even hate her, but I never sent her the divorce papers. I never did!" Osmond spoke slowly. Suddenly, a little kid rushed towards him and punched him on the stomach. He punched it repeatedly as he burst into a cry. "You liar, you liar, I saw her send that envelope that day, I even heard her say that you sent it, and she even says that you will marry her, that she will become the new madam in this house. You liar! Liar!" Roland punched him, but all Osmond could do was being a statue as he was shocked to receive this revelation. Elis ran towards her little brother and hugged him as both of them cried. Housekeeper Lu also ran to them as he could see their master looking so pale and the two siblings crying so much. He felt pity towards this family but all he could do was look at them, but still he walked slowly towards them. Perhaps this could be the chance for him to show the last words of their madam. They need it, need it to amend their relationship.
