Chapter Seven The Big Surprise The next evening at work I told Anne-Marie I wanted her to move in with me as soon as possible, employment laws and personal morality be damned. Anne-Marie didn’t appear particularly excited about the idea, but wasn’t opposed to it either. She merely accepted the change in her life as inevitable, like the weather. After speaking with her house parent, Ms. Beatrice, she told me she would move in with me, provided I meet with Beatrice first, for legal reasons. A meeting was arranged the next morning for me to meet the woman and pick up Anne-Marie’s belongings. I had also planned a few surprises for us later that afternoon.
