Chapter Fourteen The Dark and the Light On the drive back to Maryland my headache returned with a vengeance, triggered I suppose by stress, lack of sleep, sorrow at the loss of Annie-Marie, or some combination of the three. The pain grew in intensity as I drove, so once I got closer to a larger town I stopped in the emergency room of a hospital. As before, the ER Doctor referred me to a Neurologist.
