Act- 1 Chapter- 3 The Storm

3101 Words
There is a storm outside that seems to get worse as the night continues on. Everyone is tucked in tight at the lab. I look around to see everyone hugging their Pokémon tightly with the look of fear and worry in their eyes. It seems they have never seen a storm this horrible before, but I remember there being a really bad storm like this one back home that was caused by a legendary Pokémon. I look at Loomy laying with some cover tightly wrapped around her and Hinote is standing on my left shoulder both fast asleep. I gently pick up Hinote off my shoulder and lay him next to Loomy trying my best not to wake either of them. His body is glowing with heat I know that he will be able to keep both of them warm. I look out of the glass door, but I cannot see anything past door as the torrent of rain that is falling so hard and steady that it looks to be a solid wall. The only time I can get a glimpse of the area outside is when lightning flashes. It seems I really am the only one who is not fearful of the massive storm outside. I have this strange feeling that something is out of the ordinary and I feel like something or someone needs help. I am not sure where the feeling is coming from, I just know that I have to go out there. I look over at Birch and he points to a dresser by the healing unit, so I walk over, open the bottom drawer, and look through the hooded jackets. I find a black one with an odd looking Pokémon design layered in 4 shades of neon blue. I pull it out slowly so not to interrupt the others folded neatly in the drawer and close it quietly so not to bother anyone with the loud noise. I look back over at Birch and he points to the bed, points down, and to the left. Then he gives me a look of concern as to say with no words, "be safe, it could be dangerous,” I give him a nod of understanding and grin courageously. I tiptoe easily over to the bed, open the left most drawer under the bed, and find an old lantern shaped like a small Lampent, then I look for a striker all over but I cannot find one, the oil in the bottom is a deep purple. I stand up holding it out thinking and pondering on how I can light it, then it hits me...I feel on the inside of my jacket on the back, find a small tail feather from Hinoté, and hold it by the quill. I hold it over and gently rub the top of Hinoté's beak hoping to get a slight sneeze out of him. After a couple of swipes he wiggles gently, this is my chance, I hold the lantern up to his beak and position it quickly to catch the ember from his sneeze. He lets out a small breath as a tiny flame comes out of his nostrils, and it liightd the lantern exactly right, “yes! Good thinking and gesundheit,” I think, then I look over to make sure everyone is still unaware of my doings and Birch looks up at me, smiles and has a small laugh. I smile back at him and walk over to the door, unlock it, then pull really hard, but easily as to not make any noise and step out into the chaos trying to hold the door steady, and shut it as quickly and as quietly as I can. The rain is so heavy it feels like Wailord tears pelting me. I zip the jacket up, turn my hat forwards, and pull the hood up over my head. I turn the lantern up as bright as I can get it to shine and still I cannot see 5 feet away from me. A noise that is not rain comes from my right side sounding like heavy breathing, but in an unusual pattern similar sniffing, panting, then a slight squeal, “someone must be crying,” I think to myself looking hard in the direction of the noises, "IS ANYONE OUT THERE?!" I yell out towards the sound, I can hear footsteps running from my left and moving towards me, so I swing around and look. “Stantler!" It yells with a grungy verydeep voice, and it turns out to be a massive Stantler that towers over me, it puts its head down and there is an odd colored Buneary in its antlers, so I pick it up and it is badly burned with a lightning bolt scar across its chest. “It looks like it's been hit by lightning...I sure hope not,” I say in a low voice. “Stant…” the Stantler gets my attention, “ler!” It gestures to the other side of the building, and I hear a voice from my right, a little closer from where I heard the breathing. "Help, please, it's cold and I can’t move..." I hear an immediate thud that sounds like a limp lifeless body hitting the ground. There is a lightning strike at the exact moment of the thud, which spooks the Stantler and it takes off into the nearby woods. I hastily but carefully tuck the Buneary in my jacket with its head sticking out below my neck and run over towards the direction of the voice. As I approach the edge of the woods I notice a human body laying face down in the muddy grass, and as I get closer I notice the hair on their head is extremely long and solid white except for the bangs and side parts which are black. There are two different colored streaks starting at their temples running all the way down the hair both being longer than the rest. One a very bright almost glowing starlight blue, the other is neon fuchsia that also seems to glow slightly. I sit the lantern down next to the person and see that the shirt is ripped and torn like they had been running through rough countryside and also as if they had been attacked. The pants are cutoff up very close to the hip with the pockets hanging out and they are also full of holes. It also looks like they do not know what underwear is. The long slender legs reach out to bare feet covered in mud and blood, the right arm has a bracelet on it that has charms all around it. I reach my hand over onto the shoulder to turn the person over...and it is... “A girl?!” I say in surprise as I am stunned because I can see through the tears in her shirt, “wow she's absolutely beautiful,” I say aloud, “what am I doing gawking over this pretty girl? she needs help,” I think to myself. I grab her left arm, put it around my neck and shoulders, and stand up with all my strength, then I pick up the lantern and stumble over to the door. I hang the lantern above the door and struggle to open the door slightly enough for both of us to wiggle through the door. I accidentally wake up Hinote, and he jumps up, runs over to me, and tries to help me carry her over to the bed. We wake up Brendan's mother, Glinda, with the commotion and she gets up quickly helping me to get the girl onto the bed. Once we get her settled, she pushes me and Hinote back while whispering, "Loomy can stay," she smiles and winks at me, "girls only sugar!" I am a little disappointed, but only for the fact that I really want her to be okay. She draws the curtains around the bed, but I can see through the silhouette on the curtain that she is undressing the girl and drying her wet hair and skin with towels. She pops her head through the curtain wall and puts her hand out to Hinote, "I need your heat sweet one, please?" She requests, and Hinote jumps up through the small hole she created for him, then the light switches off, I cannot see anything until Hinoté starts glowing and I can see her bare figure with Hinoté in the middle of her chest. “Good job buddy, I’m jealously proud of you,” I whisper remembering I have a wounded Buneary in my jacket, so I take the it out of my jacket, deliver it to the healing station, put it inside the chamber, and turn it on. As the chamber flashes red several times I start to get worried, the buneary's fur starts drying, the severe lightning shaped burn starts healing, but the scar remains. Its eyes open up but the chamber is still flashing red and I cannot figure out why. Finally something pops up on screen and says, "disease detected, cannot cure, pokerus eminent." The chamber opens up with a cloud of steam rolling out from the fur drying, and the Buneary looks very excited and happy, also very puffy from the blow dry it just received. It jumps out of the chamber and clings onto my chest. I look down at it and it shakes its body trying to calm its fur, then falls down on its bottom. "Good thing you got that fluffy tail huh?" I laugh gently at it, "well you're all set to go little buddy, although you still have that scar from the burn...what happened? Lightning?" I ask, to which it nods at me in agreement, gives my leg a tight hug as if to thank me, then it runs in circles around me until it gets dizzy and falls back down. I laugh quietly and help it back up, it stretches its arms out to me in a gesture for me to pick it up, so I do and hold it to my chest with both arms as it rests its head on my chest. A moment later, Glinda opens the curtain wide, looks straight at me, then beckons me to come over there. I walk over, she puts her hand on my shoulder, leans in, and kisses my cheek. I blush a little because she is a very attractive woman, she whispers, "she's doing fine, but she needs to stay warm though, so if I were you, I would get some sleep,” she smiles, then she pushes herself back away from my face, winks at me, and walks over to her son and their Pokémon laying down with them. I set the Buneary down on the bed, walk back to the door, open it slightly enough to reach outside and grab the lantern I left out there, then I walk over to the edge of the bed, kick my shoes off, take the rain soaked hat off, unzip the drenched jacket, take off my soaked shirt, look around curiously for wandering eyes, see everyone is still asleep, take my wet socks and pants off, grab a towel off of the night stand, and dry off to the best of my ability. I hand all the wet clothes up on a rod extending from the head of the bed to a massive cabinet next to the front door, untie the shoes, and hang them up as well. I walk over to the open side of the bed, grab a pillow, and lay down next to the girl. Loomy nestles up next to my neck, Hinote is still on the girl’s chest sleeping peacefully in heaven’s valley, then the Buneary tiptoes around the girl and cuddles up next to Hinoté. I turn to face the girl, and just as soon as I get comfortable pulling the covers over me, the girl grabs my wrist and pulls my arm around under her arm reaching my hand up to her neck hugging it tightly. I can see a smile that reaches from one ear to the other, which causes me to smile gently and as she pulls me close I realize that she is completely n***d underneath the covers. I start blushing a bright shade of Charmeleon red afterwards because we are under the same covers. My eyes glance to her ear, after her still drying wet hair falls back, and I spot a glistening charm hanging from a chain that is connected to an earring in the lobe, that continues up the cartilage and around the crest of her ear. The chain link is beautifully designed, the lone piece has a bright purple diamond set, the charm hanging below it is a crystal feather with blue stripes streaking diagonally down to the the metal tip. “That's amazing,” I think to myself, then I to try to steal my arm back, to keep the adults from thinking I am being some kind of p*****t, but I cannot hold my eyes open anymore after the night I had just experienced, plus the sound of rain does not help my case any. I fall asleep in such a rush that I start having a dream well before my eyes shut tightly. I am flying on the back of a black and blue Rayquaza that has a trail of blue and pink energy behind it, as if we were going really fast, and a twinkle of light catches my eyes below towards the sea. The sun is shining brightly on a ship the size of at least fifty Wailords when a stone drops from my hand and falls towards the ship. "What was that? Where did I get it?" I ask out loud, and the Rayquaza roars in reply. The dream follows the stone’s descent through the clouded air as it hits a Pelipper that is flying next to the ship, bounces into an open circular window, and lands in a peculiar black bag with purple accents. The bag is then picked up by a boy around the same age me. There are three shadows that look like Zoroark, Typhlosion, and another I've never seen before. I wake up with light piercing through my eyelids, so I open my eyes slowly and realize the girl is gone. I get up slowly and stretch wide in disappointment. I look around the lab and see nobody but the Buneary laying beside me where the girl was before, “where is everyone? Wait...what time is it?" I react with a hoarse dry voice that hurts to speak. The Buneary wakes up, reaches into a pouch under its fur, pulls out a letter shaped like a heart, gives it a confused look, looks up at me, and hands it to me. It stands up on the bed, climbs up my left arm, puts its hand on my head, and looks down at the letter curiously. Again the letter smells sweet with an aroma matching the last one, "mmh Roselia petals but Cherubi soda?" I whisper lightly, my voice still a little hoarse. My mouth is dry and it is hard to swallow, but it is not itchy and I have no cough. I open the letter slowly, and it reads, "You'll probably never know how much I appreciate what you did for me…(maybe you will, who knows)…I'm not sure how my clothes got off me or dry, but having someone to keep me warm was very nice," she drew a smiley face at the end. I fold the paper up and continue reading, "I noticed that you got that buneary the help it needed as well. One day we will meet face to face for real, and I hope it’s soon," I turn the note over and it does not have stickers on it this time, but instead it is a very detailed and articulate drawing of her laying next to me with the Pokémon around us and a heart around our heads. Down below it reads, "this is not a love letter I swear!" I put the note in my bag along with the other one while smiling, but notice there is a black leather bound journal with a unique letter V burned into the front cover in there with the other note. I take it out and open it to see the first page reads, “Viper, the hero of his own adventure...” the rest of the page and the entire book are blank. I have the idea of sticking the notes into the book to keep them from getting messed up while acting as a bookmark along with the lightning blue ribbon placeholder. I decide to get out of bed and see what all has happened. I check around to find my clothes all dried and folded neatly on the nightstand with a new hat on top of them. The hat is black with an azure Blaziken symbol on the back, the word “Valor” embroidered in a deep metallic blue on the left side, the word “Love” embroidered in metallic magenta on either side, the symbol of a white and neon blue Pokéball on the front, the button on top of the hat is neon and acts as an energy transmitter and collector, on top of the bill there are three flat neon blue energy collectors, and lastly, under the bill and around the rim of the hat are strips of LED lights that can be changed to different colors. I pick it up, and there is a strangely colored stone laying in its place on top of the folded clothes. I pick it up and examine it curiously to see it is shaped like a heart, but the middle has a six point star shaped hole in it, but since I cannot understand what it is at the moment, I shrug and stick it in the bag. I put the shirt, socks, pants, shoes, and jacket on, then I reach for the hat and notice there is something written on the inside, "a gift for my new friend,” and it is signed “Leila” in very pretty handwriting. "Hmm, that's a beautiful name, I wonder if that was the girl," I whisper to myself, then I look over at the Buneary, pick it up, put it on my right shoulder, grab my bag, and walk outside.
