Act- 2 Chapter- 7 Solace Is The Moonless Night

2728 Words
The stars are shining brightly in the dark navy blue sky, you can see the waves of galaxies and the rings of a nearby planet. The moon is no where in sight as we all gaze up at the sea of magic above. It is comfortable sitting here with my Pokémon and this beautiful girl next to me, but I feel a bit of nostalgia and dejavu for some odd reason. I look over to see the Pokémon are all asleep and Leila looks as if she could sit here with me forever in an ambience of bliss. She looks over at me and I immediately glance back to sky hoping she didn’t notice me staring at her. She whispers so softly I almost cannot hear her, "you know..." she takes a long pause while brushing her thumb on my hand and I feel it let go. I look over and notice she fell asleep right as she was about to tell me something. “That figures, of course I would miss out on hearing something good. Can't blame her though, she seemed really tired,” I whisper to myself, then I look back up at the sky and notice a star I didn't see before that looks like it is shining directly at me, "huh? That's odd..." I mumble. But just as I give it recognition, it disappears, “hmm, I wonder if that was her..." my memory is short of it, but the star had a greenish hue to it. I can feel my eyes getting really heavy, and I know sleep is coming pretty soon. I lean my head over and kiss Leila on the forehead, then rest my head on hers. Right about the time I notice my legs going to sleep I drift into sleep. It seems my dreams get more and more vivid as the days go on. I see a town of tree houses with rope bridges connecting them, and a Pokémon center on the ground level. The dream moves into the Pokémon center as if I am walking. I look over to my right and notice a girl, a boy, and four Pokémon, one of which I've never seen before. I look back to the front to see a nurse at the counter with short bob cut bright fuchsia hair. She is very tall and wearing reflective sunglasses. As I approach the counter I can see myself in the reflection, I notice that I am a little shorter than normal, my hair is really long and jet black, and I have stubby facial hair. Both the nurse and my dream self are wearing solid black clothes with accented sashes, but I cannot see the colors. At the moment I realize the colors are not like they are supposed to be, all of the colors in the dream start to fall as the whole dream becomes black and white. The boy and girl asleep at the table not realizing what is happening is my goal for some reason. After the nurse hands me a solid white Pokéball with a strange symbol on the top hemisphere, I walk over, touch it to the black and red Pokémon that I have never seen before, and walk back outside of the Pokémon center. When the sun hits my eyes in the dream, I wake up to a bright light actually hitting my eyes in reality. It is a police officer wearing a rain coat and holding an umbrella, “hey you kids! It's about to start raining worse than it is, you should come with me to the Pokémon center in town...come on let's go!" She informs us. She has deep blue hair and wears glasses, and I’ve never seen a female officer like her before, that I can remember. She does not wake up Leila or the Pokémon, instead, I take out Loomy’s Pokéball and Setsei's love ball returning them, then I gently put Hinote in the top of my bag as I feel a rain drop on my face. "I'm trying not to wake anyone, they look too peaceful," I explain with a whisper looking at the officer, and she opens up the umbrella and grabs my bag while I pick Leila up and get up under the umbrella with the officer. "I just so happened to see you kids while out on my patrol, I really didn't think you wanted to get all soaked out here,” she giggles a little bit. She was right though, after the night I had of being soaking wet carrying girls and Pokémon and still not getting a lot of rest…no thanks I'm good this time around…I let out a small laugh and the officer thinks I am laughing at her joke, but I do not disagree with her assumption, “is this your girlfriend? Do your parents know you're out here this late?!" She inquires, and I look at her with a discerned look of dismay, it is almost as if she can read my mind, "oh ok, forget I asked. But if she's not your girlfriend then why are you taking such good care of her?" She smiles as we cross the middle of Odale town, "young love...sure must be nice..." she let her words roll off into an awkward silence as we turn the corner of the Pokémon center and the bottom falls out as we walk through the door. I look at her as she shakes off the umbrella to see she has a couple of tears running down her face. "Thank you miss officer lady. You don't know how much 'I' appreciate the help," I chuckle after putting emphasis on I, “also, you don’t look any older than me, and I’m eighteen…I think, and I don’t know how old this girl is, but I assume she is the same age,” I chuckle as I walk over to the northwest side of the building where the nurse on duty holds open a door to the back. The officer follows me to the back holding my bag, I lay Leila down on one of the beds and let Loomy and Setsei out of their balls. I lay them down beside her, then I take Hinote out of my bag and lay him down too, “I don't know how they were able to sleep through all of that," I laugh gently, and the officer laughs as well handing my bag to me. I set it down next to the bed and walk back out to the main area with the officer. I speak up with a bit of confidence but also respect as to not offend her, "I don't think I've ever seen a female police officer like you…" She looks at me with a confused look, "you've never heard of Camp Jenny or the officers Jenny of Kanto and Johto?" She asks as we walk over to the table in the south east corner of the building and sit down. I cross my arms on the table and rest my chin on them, "no ma'am I haven't, I'm not from around here nor have I been to either of those places that I know of. I woke up here just a few days ago with amnesia, but it’s coming back slowly. Professor Birch had contacted this other professor...Cypress? I think? And told me I was from a region called Grecia,” I respond, and she looks up at me with sparkles in her eyes, very beautiful sky blue eyes that fade into grey around the edge of the cornea. "The Grecia region has been one place I've always wanted to go. But I can't just up and leave Hoenn with this group of people calling themselves Underhade ravaging about, and just before that, there were these two gangs; Team Magma, and Team Aqua, and before that was Team Rocket. I just wish they would go away, you know, I was engaged at one time, which should let you know my age, I’m twenty one. I had a pretty good guy on my arm, by my side, and was gonna be with me all the way. I really thought he was the one,” she starts to tear up again, mascara filled tears run down her face so slowly that you can count the heartbeats it takes for one to reach her jaw. I look at her with compassion in my eyes, the only odd thing is how she worded her sentence. I suspect death, but she has a different tone, “my mother was an officer Jenny, I followed in her footsteps through the academy and graduated with honors, my only drawback was that I wasn't changing my name to Jenny,” she looks down at her uniform and her hat falls off landing on the table upside down. I look at the inside of the hat to see the name Izabayla written in a pretty cursive. I look back up to her face which is now drenched in tears and mascara, "I'm so sorry miss...Izabayla?" I say in a questioning manner. She looks over at me, smiles, and nods her head. I stand up from the chair and hold one finger up in waiting. She watches me walk away in a curious manner, "what? Did I say something wrong?" She asks in a disappointed tone, but I keep walking over to the counter, where I grab a black handkerchief from the neatly folded pile on the end. I walk back over to her and kneel down next to her chair. I reach over to her legs, pull her to face me, fold the handkerchief over my hand and start wiping her face clean gently. She smiles and giggles, "I don't know why you're being so generous to someone you've just met, but it's nice to see someone with some chivalry..." she pauses as I reached up to her eyes, then I very carefully wipe her eyes clean, and when she opens them I can see a sparkle in them that seems very familiar. She grabs my hand gently, lays it down on her legs, and holds both of my hands with hers. She continues her story, "let me finish, I feel an odd sense of trust with you,” she smiles sanguinely, stands up still holding my hands, and sits me down in the booth, then she lays down on the booth bench next to me and rests her head in my lap, “it was 4 days before we were to be wed, those Underhade people came into Fallarbor town and started causing a fuss with Professor Cosmo. I don't remember the whole deal, but it had to do with the water coming out of the cave nearby. My fiancé, Giernoa, went up to the leader and tried to sort things out the peaceful way. They both walked into cave together with the professor and stayed there for well over 3 hours. I waited with Cosmo's wife in their house hoping for the best. When they came back out I had noticed a change in Giernoa's eyes. Not like the color or anything, but a change of heart. They all three walked into the house and I stood up demanding to know what happened, and what was going on. Giernoa walked up to me and grabbed me by the back of my neck abruptly pulled me into his face and kissed me, but it didn't feel like him. He grabbed my hair on the back of my head and pulled me away from his face, then turned my head around towards the back of the house and threw me on the floor..." her eyes begin filling with tears again, but thankfully all of her mascara had run out from the last bit of crying. I hold my right hand out for her to hold and begin to stroke her head and hair with my left hand trying to comfort her, “I hit the floor so hard that it knocked me out. When I came to, Professor Cosmo was holding a broken pokéball and his wife was brushing my forehead with a damp cloth. I remember looking over at Cosmo shaking his head crying at the broken pokéball. He looked at me lying on their bed and it hit like a Hitmonchan's bullet punch to the heart. My dear Manectric. Cosmo explained to me that after Giernoa threw me to the floor he took my Pokéball off of my belt, set it on the ground in front of my face, and stomped it until it broke. Any time a Pokémon is still in their ball when that happens it...it...well you know..." she is crying uncontrollably at this point and all I can think to do is try and comfort her, "I buried the pieces of the ball at Mt. Pyre and haven't been back since that day to pay my respects. I need to, it's just hard," she confesses. I knat that she is hurting, and I could feel her emotions coursing through her entire body. “These Underhade people are relentless and need to be stopped, I wonder how many lives have been affected by their rampage?” I think to myself, then she sits up really fast and straightens her uniform out. She takes the handkerchief and wipes her face clean, "I can't be seen this vulnerable with my job, it's unprofessional and I shouldn't be troubling you with my problems. I'm sorry young sir, I truly apologize for my behavior,” she turns away and reaches for her hat, but I reach out and grab her hand putting it on my heart. Then I take my other hand and pull her head to face me. She keeps her hand on my chest while I put one on hers. "I may be young, but I know what pain is, I can't come to the terms that understand what you're going through, but I can sympathize with your situation. I'm gonna put an end to this. I just have to get strong with my Pokémon and overcome all obstacles. Then, when we all come together and beat this darkness, you can finally go to Grecia. I want to go back too and find out about where I'm from and everything about my past," I smile at her and give her a very long and emotional hug. "I think you should get some rest, thank you for sharing with me, and listening to me,” she looks up at me with confidence reassured, "thank you...umm, what's your name?" I laugh remembering that I hardly ever got a chance to introduce myself, "Viper, ma'am." She giggles realizing my zealous mistake, “okay Viper, we will meet again one day, and when we do...I will fight beside you, you can count on it!" She smiles, winks at me, pulls me in, and gives me a really tight hug, then pulls back and looks me in the eyes. She smiles and slowly moves her face towards me. “Umm…oh wow, is she about to kiss me? This is very unexpected...what do I do?” I think to myself, then she moves to the side of my mouth and kisses me softly. In my confusion I couldn’t tell if she kissed my cheek or mouth or both but it felt nice either way. She then moves to my forehead, pushes my hat and bangs back and kisses my forehead, then she fixes my hair and puts my hat back on. She grabs her hat and tightens it up, picks up the umbrella, and walks out of the building. I look over at the nurse and she smiles brightly at me offering for me to go to the beds in the back. I nod to her and follow her to the back, where I notice that everyone is all comfortable on the bed and there is not exactly enough room for me, “haha of course," I chuckle while walking over to bed beside them and laying down, then I roll over and watch the others while they sleep until I eventually fall asleep myself.
