- 17 - Judge Cromwell jumped into her car and sped towards the hospital where her son waited to be questioned. Ray’s text made her stomach knot and her mind race with the possibility her son had committed murder. She wanted to know the extent of his violent nature. Sadness washed over her, but didn’t cleanse the anxiety that took over her entire body. Was it her fault for letting him come home to visit? Would Barry have to move to a permanent in-patient facility? She trusted Lieutenant Ray Reed and knew of his meticulous investigative skills. If Barry was innocent, Ray would clear his name. If guilty, Ray would make sure justice prevailed. Her cell phone rang. She punched the screen to answer and greeted the caller on speaker. “Hello, Judge Cromwell. This is Detective William Moore.”
