DAVE After finishing her conversation with her sister, Elara left to get ready. Meanwhile, I made my way to find Damien. He was in the dining area, preoccupied with tending to his pregnant wife, Clara, who was busy enjoying her meal. I slid into the seat next to her, not wasting time. “I need a favor,” I said, my tone straightforward. Clara, ever the vibrant personality, leaned in slightly, her lips curling into a playful smile despite her mouth being full. “Your wife is stunning,” she said between bites. “But her family? Ugh, they seem like complete jerks.” “They are,” I muttered, my voice filled with disdain. The kind of disdain reserved for a man willing to sell his nineteen-year-old daughter for money. A man like that wasn’t just an opportunist—he was a coward. A spineless weakling.
