We both sat inside the car, buckled ourselves up and he started the engine. The sound of rain drops that kept striking the windows and car shield was deafening.
But that wasn’t going to stop me from asking a dozen of questions which were going inside of my mind.
I looked outside, the whole crowd was gone, and there were just a countable people, running around; probably to get to their homes or to their cars.
Almost all the malls were closed and some which weren't were going to get shuttered, anytime soon.
I turned to Ahaan. He had started the car already and we were en route our hotel. We both were completely drenched in the rain but he looked hell of a lot sexy. His firm grip around the steering wheel showcased his firm biceps and those sexy nerves.
And then suddenly he looked at me and captured my eyes with his. He flashed me that heart stopping sexy lopsided smile, which clearly said- I know you are staring.
"Drive, please" I grinned and rolled my eyes, knowing and not hiding that I have been caught staring.
"I can't, when I know you have been..."
"I have been nothing, I was looking outside"
I protested
He laughed. "Sure, you were"
I grinned happily and looked outside.
I don't know why, but for some reason I was happy, extremely happy actually.
When I looked back at him, he was concentrated on the road again. It was really hard to drive in that rain as the roads were not at all visible.
Why did he come out in this rain? Who would do that for a stranger?
What if he wouldn't have come? What if...
Shut up, Sana! You are safe now. And he did come.
"Thank you for today" I kept looking at his face and saw him drive.
He smiled so sweetly but did not look at me.
"There's nothing to thank for" he said and made a deep turn making me unbalanced that I had to sit back up.
"I don't know what I would have done if you weren't.."
"I was there. That's what matters" he assured me and this time he gave me a quick glance and went to focus on the roads again.
I was extremely thankful to him even when I couldn't understand- why did he come to get me? Me? Is he serious? Is this guy, this unbelievably sexy, hot guy, giving me his attention?
I knew that I couldn’t understand his reason, but definitely could try to know a few other things about him.
"So, how did that guy know you?" I asked, stretching the so for a bit too long.
"What guy?" He asked, but his tone gave him away.
I rolled my eyes. "That guy. The showroom guy"
"Which showroom guy?" His tone- clearly teasing.
Really?
"If you don't want to tell me, just say it. You don't have to move in circles" my tone, irritated. I folded my hands on my chest and tried focusing out.
Is he serious? Why doesn't he share anything?!
Suddenly I felt his eyes on me,
"Drive please. We don't want any accident here"
I was either feeling extremely tired after that crazy shopping and lots of running around or maybe I just felt bad that he did not trust me enough to share as little thing as that.
Why would he Sana? You guys have just met!
I felt him exhale.
"I don't know him, Sana. My company has given him a deal to work on. He didn't tell me the name of his company otherwise I could tell you more"
My heart danced on hearing his voice and my name from his mouth. When would I get over this cheesiness?
"How many companies do you have?" I asked curiously and looked back at him. He looked concentrated on the roads again.
But for a small second, his hands stopped.
For the longest time, he didn't utter a word, it was like he didn't listen to me at all.
"If I tell you, will it change something?" He said that with carefully measured words.
"Change what?" I asked almost instantly
He gave me a quick glance and went back to drive.
"Nothing" he murmured
"I have a few companies" he stated.
But his tone made it clear that he didn't want to talk about that.
So I decided to change the topic. Why would I want to ruin his mood after all that he did for me?
"I did some shopping for you as well" I said cheerily, or just to cheer-up his mood.
"Really?" His eyes narrowed as if he couldn't believe it, but did not look at me.
"Yup" and looked out.
I couldn't see anything because of the heavy rain but just flashes of color.
"Why did you come?" I asked finally.
I’ve been dying to ask this question. Why did he come?
"That's obvious" he replied
Really?
"What's obvious?"
"You were out, alone, Sana. How could I not come?"
His words and the intensity with which he said that, penetrated deep into my heart and I felt butterflies flutter inside.
"But what the hell were you doing in men's showroom?"
But before I could answer, his mouth formed a small ‘o’
"You were shopping for me?"
I nodded even when he wasn't looking at me, but outside.
"How did you find me?" I asked
"That's a long story. But bottom line? I found you." And he smiled so sweetly at that and even gave me a glance.
I smiled back but stopped when I realized he didn't answer my question really.
"Ahaan please. How did you find me?"
He exhaled.
"Really?"
"Yes" I said, excited
"I kept working, after you left me alone" he stressed on that 'alone' part a bit too much making me bit the inside of my cheeks.
"You were working"
"I volunteered to come with you"
"You would have gotten bored"
"You are not sure about that"
That shut me up.
So he continued,
"So hours later, I got up to get a bath and when I came out I heard the sound of rain. I tried calling you, but couldn't connect, so I arranged this car and went out to look for you. I knew this was the main area to shop but obviously I didn't know in which showroom you were in, so I checked them all, asked for you. I skipped this mall in which you actually were waiting, because it was men's. But at last I actually went inside and you know the rest."
My heart was beating fast when I realized what he actually had to go through.
"Thank you" I said with all my heart.
"Don't say that."
I smiled and continued looking out.
Just being with Ahaan made this rain even more beautiful. Minutes ago I was hell scared of it but with him it looked beautiful.
A weird emotion kept churning inside, which was definitely because of thinking too much- what would have happened if he won't be here.
That silence between us, and the musical sound of striking rain felt incredible. Magical.
Butterflies never stopped fluttering inside and we didn't utter a word for the longest time.
And finally we reached our hotel.
