It's been another few months now, my father had started striking now...We had been forced to run into the woods and away from our home. If we had stayed there then we wouldn't have been able to fight back, we'd have no chance. I was struggling a lot now: I was unable to walk for a while, I was always in pain, I was more fragile, weaker, and I was sick considerably often. We were hiding in the vast and dense woods. We seemed relatively safe, we knew it wasn't long before he found us. Well, I should say they, He's now got associates who also have people who are willing to fight for them.
Miko was pressing me against him, attempting to calm me and alleviate the pain any way he could. I held onto him as much as possible, it was calmer now. We couldn't hear them or anything for that matter. Everybody was apprehensive and wary.
"Now is probably a good time to move...They don't seem to be near." Mai's voice was quiet, almost a whisper. Everybody nodded, Miko picked me up, cradling me in his arms. I wrapped my arms around his neck, hugging him. The others stood up, we started moving somewhere more hidden and less expected...Somewhere we could relax a little.
We arrived and settled down.
"Eli, you should get some rest if you can..." He held me closer.
I agreed and snuggled up to him more. He began petting me as I started to fall into a dreamless slumber.
I awoke, we were somewhere different now, everybody was out of breath, some of them missing.
"We're surrounded..." Ryan's voice was quiet, and despair filled.
"That doesn't matter! We have to keep fighting. We can't just give up!" Mai's voice was hope-filled. Seeing Mai hopeful filled the others with determination. Some of the opposing forces started attacking again. They all started fighting, protecting each other as if they were friends or family.
The pain started to get worse, Miko held me tighter comforting me. Tears began to fall as it continued to get worse and worse. It was going to happen...But why now? Why here? I stayed as silent as possible.
"Guys! We have a predicament!" Miko's voice was urgent, Mai and Ryan turned and hurried to my side. They did something, the pain subsided a little.
The fight continued, we seemed to be doing well. Nobody was injured yet the opposition was falling like flies. Everybody was still working together, that's why we were winning. That's what their side wasn't doing. They weren't helping each other or looking out for each other. That's why they were so easy to dispose of. I had my head buried in Miko's clothes and chest, so I wouldn't have to see what was going on. Yes, they were attacking us but...It wasn't their fault, it was their leaders. They are just following their orders blindly with no will of their own. It's sad. They are innocent. We are only fighting them to keep our selves alive yet, they are fighting for what? Glory? Pride? Or do they just enjoy killing and harming others?
The pain continued to grow as Mai and Ryan injected me with something. This numbed the pain. Miko held my head against his chest, making sure I was unable to see...Everything faded to darkness and then. There was a sharp pain in my side, everything started to fade to black as Ryan, Mai and Miko began to panic. I didn't understand what was going on.
"Hey! Hey! We are here Elizabeth, please stay awake," Tears were falling down Miko's face now, I tried to listen to their voices but, it was all just merging into one noise and then nothing. The darkness shrouded me but, as it did, there was a sharp and bright flash of light and then nothing.
