CHAPTER THREE

“I honestly thought he wouldn’t let me see youuu Nat!!”Jasmine cooed like a baby as she hugged Natasha. She had really missed the one person she could vent and talk to, whenever she felt like letting it all out. “Tell me everything, Jas. “I’m here now okay?” Natasha urged Jasmine to speak, as they both sat at their favorite spot in the garden. She pulled Jasmine closer to lean on her shoulders, and stroked her soft brown curly hair the warm breeze scattered all around her face. “What if he rejects me Nat?” Jasmine said, pulling away from Natasha and looking up at her face to study her expression, but Natasha had a blank face on. She simply waited for Jasmine to continue speaking, because she knew Jasmine had a lot more to say. “What if I’m not good enough for him? He is the crown prince Nat. I’m not even up to his standard. He might just wake up one morning and realize he deserves better. My Goodness! How can I even be the Queen of the werewolf race?! The moon goddess must be playing a prank on me, don’t you think so?” Jasmine continued yapping, until she realized she may have spoken out loud. Slowly, she turned around to know if anyone was close, or had heard her. Seeing that the coast was ultimately clear, she turned back to look at Natasha, who still had a blank expression on. She was basically lost. “Nat!” Jasmine called, snapping her fingers before Natasha’s face. “I’m still here Jas. I understand how you feel right now. I would also feel that way if I were in your shoes, but I can only assure you that everything would be fine.” Natasha mumbled, squeezing Jasmine’s palms in hers. Hopefully, that action could make Jasmine feel a whole lot better. “I really want you to stay positive in all of this. I know that you’re scared, but don’t put it all out. You’re not weak, Jas. I know for a fact that you’re strong and you know that as well. So don’t worry your pretty head, okay?” Natasha continued, pulling Jasmine into a warm embrace, as she stroked her hair gently. This made Jasmine tear up, and eventually began to sob. “Don’t even try to do that, I would pinch you so hard!” Natasha warned, making both she and Jasmine chuckle. Eventually, Jasmine pulled away from her, smiling with tears in her eyes. “It’s okay to cry Jas. Cry all you want but don’t do that in front of anybody else but me okayyy??” Natasha said, as she used the back of her palms to clean Jasmine’s tears. “It’s enough Jas. The crown princess and future Luna shouldn’t be crying so much, remember?” There was a pregnant silent after Natasha said that, and before they knew it, they had both burst into laughter. As they laughed crazily, they both hugged each other. Soon enough, they stood up from the flower bed they had initially been sitting on, and made their way to another part of the garden, holding each other’s hands. “I would miss this garden, Nat.” Jasmine muttered, looking over the garden with a sad look in her eyes. “Don’t worry about that. You would have a more beautiful garden in your new home, trust me.” Natasha said, it was her time to tear up but she forcefully blinked it in, before Jasmine could see it. She didn’t want her friend to know how much she was going to cry when she finally left. *********************************** “She is an Omega! How could that even be possible? She is just a slave, and I heard he is the crown prince.” Ivy blabbed enviously to Jamal, who was so busy with the flowers he was trimming. “She is not fit for him at all. The moon goddess doesn’t make mistakes, but I guess she did this time. Jasmine! of all the women in the entire kingdom? She is only pretty and a bit bold. She doesn’t possess the qualities of a Luna.” Ivy continued, trying so hard to get Jamal’s attention but seemed to have failed, because his gaze remained on the flowers. “Now, this is art! I’m so good at what I do, Ivy. Don’t you think so?” Jamal asked, a deep rumble reverberating through his chest, in form of a chuckle. “Are you even listening to me Jamal?” Ivy asked, sounding pissed already. Everyone knows Ivy to have a short temper, but it doesn’t seem that way when she is around Jamal. Ivy knew for a fact that she was different whenever she was with him, and she loved the feeling. “Listen Ivy, you know I’m not too in on gossips lately. I’ve been trying to be at my best behavior since I met my mate. So I think you should try doing so yourself, rather than being bothered about Jasmine who the moon goddess has shown favour. Besides, no one would have Jasmine as a mate and reject her.” Jamal finished, picking up his tools to leave the garden. Jamal had just found his mate; Layla, eighteen days ago, and she was the second daughter of the Gamma of the Blood moon pack. He had been trying so hard to impress her, seeing as she didn’t feel happy knowing he was her mate. Jamal was so scared of getting rejected by Layla, but he was one bit deterred. He would not stop trying to please her, even if all his efforts lately had been thrown back at his face. “Are you serious Jamal? So this is now about having mates, right?” Ivy sounded really hurt and disappointed as she looked up at Jamal, who looked away in guilt. She and Jamal had a thing going on for each other. Infact, Jamal was her first and she hadn’t laid with anyone else, but him. He meant so much more to her, but she couldn’t help but feel that whatever was going on between them, was going to end soon. Or rather, had ended since he found his mate. At this point, she was already beginning to feel Jamal only stuck with her for the s*x, and the thought of that chattered her even more. “I’m sorry Ivy, but I’ve got so much work to do today.” Jamal apologized, the look on his face showed that he was really so remorseful, but couldn’t help the apparent situation of things either. He had a mate now, and he was doing all he could to give Ivy as much space as possible. He only hoped she could do same. “It’s fine, I would just go in and continue my chores at the laundry. Ivy replied, trying not to show how bad she felt in that moment. Tears pricked her eyes as she watched him leave. She knew Jamal was indirectly asking for space, but didn’t know how to put the words together. Ivy had a whole lot of task to do but now she chose to be out here with Jamal, watching him trim flowers and hoping they could catch up since they haven’t spoken for a while now. She really needed to move on from Jamal and she wished she could find her mate as well. Just like Jasmine, she was also sold to the pack as an Omega. Ivy turned around to leave the garden, when she locked eyes with Jasmine. Just beside Jasmine was Natasha, glaring so hard at her. She didn’t know how to feel anymore. She knew they heard her conversation with Jamal. Besides, she had never liked Jasmine, so she cared less. Without as much as a ‘hi’, she walked past Jasmine and Nat, a certain blue eyed man occupying her thoughts. “The hopeless girl is really trying to project her frustration on other people.” Natasha glared at Ivy’s retreating figure. She and Jasmine had been taking a stroll through the garden, when they stumbled upon the conversation between Jamal and Ivy. “What frustration are you talking about?” Jasmine enquired, looking at Natasha. By then, Ivy had completely exited the garden. “You’re always stuck with me, and this prevents you from hearing all the juicy gossips about things that go on in the pack. You only know when I fill you in.” Natasha shook her head in mock disappointment, making Jasmine roll her eyes in a way that made them both laugh. “I’m all ears. What happened this time?”Jasmine asked, realizing how much she was going to miss Natasha. She could have been so lost in the pack, if it wasn’t for Natasha’s consistent in giving her the gists of all the crazy things going on in the slave quarters. Natasha quickly briefed Jasmine on all that had happened between Ivy and Jamal, and how Jamal was trying to win the heart of his new mate; Layla. Layla who turns out to be the Gamma’s favorite daughter, didn’t seem to like Jamal because he was an Omega. She couldn’t settle for anything less, seeing as she’s been working so hard to impress her father, and become the next Gamma after him. “But you said Layla is the Gamma’s second daughter. Why does she want to become the next gamma? What about her brother?” Jasmine asked, a bit confused after listening to all Natasha had said. “The Gamma doesn’t have a son.” Natasha informed, as she intertwined her hands with Jasmine, walking out of the garden. “But she has an elder sister right?” Jasmine enquired, trying to understand the story. “Hmmm....I don’t think the pack would want to have a nuisance for a Gamma. Although, they’re rumors that the unruly older sister might be the next Gamma, for reasons best known to her father.” Natasha finished with a shrug. ********* After their stroll in the garden, Jasmine went back to Tristan’s Chambers. She actually didn’t know a guard had been following them all the while they were together at the garden. The guard had been instructed by Tristan to trail Jasmine, after he allowed her to go see Natasha. Tristan feared Jasmine might try to run away, especially after finding out he was the crown prince. She had looked really scared and buried her face in her palms, as she laid her head on the headboard of the bed, for quite a long time. Tristan hadn’t dared to come close, but was very uncomfortable at the sight of her not saying anything. He had sat still at the extreme end of the bed just looking at her, before she had finally removed her palms from her face and looked up at him. She had a very unreadable expression on her face, and he knew she needed to speak to someone that wasn’t him. That was the sole reason he let her go see Natasha. 3 DAYS LATER… It’s been three days and Tristan thought it was time to finally leave with his mate, and return back to the palace. Tristan had tried to have conversations with Jasmine since the time she realized he was the Crown prince, but it’s been difficult. He simply decided not to push too hard and just give her more time. He wasn’t surprised when he told her they were returning back to the palace and she just nodded. That was her usual response to anything he said, and he wondered when that would change. Tristan really hoped things between them would change and become better when they got back to the palace. He felt they would be more comfortable and relaxed in his personal space, while he assures her of his love and loyalty. ‘No.....not love, let’s be friends with her for a start, and then watch it grow into love.’ Drakos; his wolf, beat him to it. ‘That sounds quite sensible to me’. Tristan agreed. He looked sideways only to see Jasmine kinda struggling with her hair. She had been trying to pack her hair into a ponytail, but was looking for her band to keep it firm. When she turned to look around herself for the band, she saw Tristan stretching his hand with the hair band in it. “Thank you.” She wasn’t so sure he heard her, but she didn’t really care either. It was almost time for them to leave for the palace. She wondered if she was leaving hell for paradise, or to another hell. She wasn’t so excited about leaving, but she believed the moon goddess had great plans in store for her. Natasha had also assured her to be positive, so she was trying to remain optimistic. “So, friends?” Tristan suddenly asked. He had decided to go with the suggestion of Drakos. Jasmine hadn’t seen that question coming, so she released a light chuckle. She thought that was really cute, and slowly nodded her head ‘yes’. “Yes?” Tristan asked hopefully. “Yeah….” She gave another nod. “…..friends.” With a wide smile, he stretched out his hand for a shake, and she shyly put her hands in his. His palms felt so warm, which were a great contrast to her rather cold ones. They had stayed that way for a while, until Jasmine pulled out her hand and pretended to give her hair finishing touches. Tristan on the other hand, awkwardly left the room to ensure everything was ready for their departure to the palace that. His beta confirmed everything was ready, and they set to leave. Natasha had been standing by the carriage, obvious tears in her eyes. She had said she wasn’t going to cry, but she couldn’t help it now. It was very real now, that Jasmine was leaving. They shared their last hugs, and just when Jasmine was about to step into the carriage, Alpha Chad appeared. “I see you’re leaving now. Have a safe trip, your highness.” He bowed, his eyes on Jasmine the whole time. Tristan wasn’t a fool, he could tell that Chad didn’t mean well. Earlier in the day, Tristan had met up with Chad, who did not seem delighted about Jasmine was leaving his pack. But he dared not make it obvious, knowing Tristan wasn’t going to take lightly, his lust towards Jasmine. “Thank you, Chad.” Tristan replied with a curt nod, before stretching out his hand for a shake. Chad faked a smile when Tristan shook his hands, he eyes roaming over Jasmine’s figure. She had been avoiding his gaze the whole time, but eventually, she locked eyes with him and he smirked. She was so sure she heard him mouth something that seemed like ‘Don’t worry Jasmine, I’m coming for you’. She pulled her eyes away from him immediately, and got into the carriage. Cold shivers ran down her spine as she thought about Chad’s last words over and over again. Thankfully, she was leaving his pack and hopefully, things would be better for her at the palace. Hopefully.
