~Chase~
I couldn't escape from Aaron fast enough as I ran into my cabin and shut the door. Taking a deep breath to try and calm my nerves I finally let the tears cascade down my cheeks and turned my back to the door using it to slide down to the ground and rested my head against the wood. All these years I have tried to forget every good thing that happened during my time at the Dark Side pack and in one instance he had brought them back. It has been easy to forget because I could count my good memories on one hand with room to spare. I had been locked in the dungeon at the age of 5 and beaten by the elders until they were satisfied that I would bend to their will and be a perfect little servant girl. It wasn't until I was 8that I was allowed to work in the main house, and I did not meet Aaron until I was 12. For 3 years Aaron was a friend, something I thought I would never have again. However, I was reminded the night of his first shift why I was not worthy of a friend. The things they did to me that night... let’s just say that I never risked going near Aaron again. I learned long ago that Aaron was not where my fate lies and finding out that Grayson was my mate sealed that idea in my mind.
'That’s because we weren't ready to be who we are yet' Ash, my wolf, whispered in my brain.
'You still won't tell me what we are Ash!' I sighed taking a deep breath finally finding the strength to stand and move to my room to start getting ready for dinner.
'There have been signs you just apparently are not ready to listen' Ash huffed annoyed.
'Yeah, yeah, yeah whatever Ash. I have enough to deal with now that Aaron is in town. I need to act proper put on a good face so we can keep our trade agreement and get him to leave!' I pulled on my favorite black jeans with a lowcut green sequin top that was loose in the middle but showed my figure perfectly. Finally, I took my hair and brushed it out, the fiery red locks falling into loose waves around me.
'If you want him to leave then why are you wearing your "look at me" outfit?' I could feel the smirk coming from Ash and I couldn't help the small smile that crossed my face.
'Just because I want him to leave doesn't mean I don't enjoy the looks he gives me.' I had to admit that having Aaron around made me feel things I hadn't felt since the night he shifted.
'That’s because you have always cared for him you simpleton! Even before I manifested, I knew it!'
'Leave it alone Ash he is an Alpha and I...'
'Am a Luna? stop downplaying yourself. You are a bad ass, and it is naturally because of me!'
'Okay so I am going to leave now because you are annoying, and I have to go to dinner.' Shaking my head, I started ignoring Ash's annoying voice in my head as I took yet another deep breath and headed out to get Aaron for dinner. When I walked outside, he was already waiting for me on the red brick road mumbling to himself as he absentmindedly kicked a rock around. When he acted like this, he looked just like the boy I once knew so naive and almost afraid of what was next. He was dressed in blue jeans and a black shirt that was a little loose which made me smile slightly remembering that he hated people knowing how ripped he was. I blushed softly when he looked at me feeling shy about my outfit choice now.
Biting my lip, I decided it was now or never and moved towards him, "you ready to go to dinner?"
"Yep! It’s weird but I cannot wait to see Aaron again. That little boy may look like the devil, but he is so full of energy that it makes me smile." He beamed like a child as we walked leaving his hands in his pockets which relieved me because I knew he wasn't going to touch me.
"Yeah, I imagine he was a lot like me as a kid." I blushed softly as we walked. "Anyways how has your life been going? Found your mate yet?"
Aaron stopped and looked at me like I was insane, "Why would I have wanted you to relive that night at the lake if I currently had a mate. Wouldn't that just be cruel?”
"Currently?" I crossed my arms over my chest and raised an eyebrow starring him down. "Explain."
~Aaron~
'Well, your f****d' Jason hackled in my mind loving the situation I was in.
Sighing I naturally rubbed the back of my neck not sure where to start so I sat down on a nearby bolder and motioned for her to join me. "I don't know where to start this story... Um so yes about five years ago I met my mate when they turned 18. It lasted about 5 days when I decided I could not be with them an rejected the mate bond."
The look of horror on her face stunned me especially since I had been there when she rejected her mate, so I did not get why it was so horrible that I rejected mine. "Why did you reject them! Did they hurt you or something...? I had a reason for rejecting that Ass you don't even know how many reasons I had. What reasons did you have!" She stood pacing trying to make sense of everything without giving me a chance to explain myself.
"They weren't my type!" I said quickly before wincing. 'Wrong move' Jason felt the need to add to my guilt.
She turned on me with killing intent, "Not your type! you cast her aside because she wasn't your type! What was she to fat, had blue eyes instead of green! Was she brunette! How shallow can you be!"
"She was a he!" I growled before I could stop myself again. "We tried to go with what the moon goddess wanted but when we got to the... physical portion... neither one of us could... um" I blushed softly rubbing my hands across the face. "Neither one of us could get our d***s hard for one another so we let our wolves go at it like they were in heat and then I rejected him in the morning. We didn't want to take it away from them but obviously if we couldn't make things work physically there were going to be issues."
After a few agonizing moments of silence, I heard Chase drop to the floor laughing so hard she snorted. When I looked at her, I saw a strong proud future Luna clutching her stomach tightly as she lay in the fetal position just laughing at my misery. "Oh my gosh for a second I wanted to kill you."
"Yeah, I got that feeling." I pouted not appreciating the laughter at all. "Jason was happy but I just couldn't do it."
"I get that. I mean at least you let them have a night, but I get it." she took a few minutes to calm herself down and catch her breath before speaking again. "I'm sorry I should not have assumed. So, who was your mate?"
She wiggled her eyebrows at me letting me know that I was not getting away from telling her. Taking a deep breath, I looked at her, "Um... Jonah."
"Your BETA!!!" once again she fell into a fit of giggles.
"I'm glad you’re getting joy out of this," I huffed crossing my arms.
"I'm sorry but I can just picture the two of you standing there going "oh f**k" and still trying to do your best. Plus, you hate hurting people and since you are the Alpha you had to be the one to reject him." She smiled softly looking at me and I smiled.
"That’s actually what happened. We tried but it just didn't work. We didn't even tell anyone. We have just been acting like we haven't found our mates yet." I was glad that she understood.
'That’s because she is awesome so just claim her as our mate already.' Jason whined in my head making my roll my eyes at him.
"Well Aaron there may be an easy answer as to why your mate was a guy." she beamed turning to continue walking to the dining hall.
"Why is that because I've been trying to figure out why I am straight and got a guy." I shook my head following her.
"It is easy. Jason is gay." she said it like it was the easiest answer in the world and it was verified when Jason purred in my head with contentless. "So, you need to find a girl who has a male wolf."
"Well Jason could have told me that earlier." I mumbled. "Plus, doesn't everyone have a wolf with the same s*x as them. What about your wolf what is she like?"
She beamed up at me stopping in front of the dining hall. "My wolfs name is Ash. They are fiery full of energy and give me s**t 24/7 but I tune them out."
"She sounds fun." I chuckled softly looking at her.
"Yep! However, she is a he!" scrunching her face in a smile she laughed softly and turned around entering the dining hall leaving me standing there speechless as Jason smirked in my head urging me to follow her.
